Beautifully painted trompe l'oeil swagged material and stonework cover the walls of this distinctive bathroom. The comparative warmth of the 'material' is offset by the deliberate cold, stone effect. The room itself was painted with artist's oil colour in two tones of buff, mixed with glaze and given a coat of polyurethane.

The textural contrast of walls, flooring and upholstery in this room gives life to the pale colours used. Trompe l'oeil stone walls and marble-topped table are countered by the more informal arrangement of armchairs and side tables. The neutral tones and the symmetry of the room's design give a classical appearance.
