The one with weird eyes

It was a normal day at the coffee shop. I was mooching off of their wifi, trying to get some schoolwork done on my laptop.

Eventually, I notice this weird kid sitting by the counter. It looked like he had just gotten out of a fight, his wings and jacket were tattered, and I swear I could see a bloodstain on his shirt.

I guess I was staring for too long, because he started giving me the worst stink eye I had ever seen. I'll never forget that glare, his eyes didn't even look human...

Eventually, he gets up and walks past me on his way out of the store. He handed me a piece of paper as he walked past.

It was a pamphlet, advertising the latest operating system... Porthole 12... Horrifying. I hope I never see him again.

The nature of chaos island is wonderful today.

The waves are calm. The clouds are perfect. The flora and fauna are alive as ever.

You’re laying there. You feel at peace. Yet, you can’t shake the feeling that something’s wrong. Maybe it’s you? 

Yet this world accepts you with open arms. It cares not for your history, your tragedy, your capacity for destruction. Because it knows you’re more than that.

But you can’t shake that question, what was I made for? To further this peace? Or to end it?

What was that sound?

Was that… a branch snapping?

…And another?

Suddenly, a figure falls out from the tree above.
