For a moment, the strangerâs words almost seemed noble. Perhaps she was wrong about him. The term âThe Karamatsu Struggleâ sounded awfully important. What a curse indeedâŠ
But as the man continued to talk, a familiar fatigue settled into Mayâs bones.
His plight sounded..well, insignificant. Childish. She wondered yet again if he was mocking her. Or, thinking back on her early conversations with her previous teammate, KazamiâŠif he was just that foolish.
Well, fools can be reckless, and Kazami had proven multiple times how dangerous that was. But perhaps this was a new opportunity. He had taken the time to speak with her, and despite his warnings she didnât feel any pain. Well, not bodily pain anyway, she thought as the beginning of a migraine set on.Â
âIâŠah,â May cleared her throat, not sure how to talk with the stranger. Typically sheâd walk by these types of people. âThatâs unfortunate, yourâŠmishaps with others. But I doubt your presence will harm me.â May extended her hand out; this was a way to make friends, right?Â
âMy name is May. You areâŠ?â
Karamastu was impressed. âAh, a brave one, you are...unafraid of the burdens that come from being acquainted with one who only brings suffering. Heh...how admirable. Yes, I think you and I will get along fine!â
He accepted her handshake, bowing grandly as he did so. He was inclined to kiss her hand, but he refrained. The last time he did that, the beautiful lady smacked him in the face. âMay...a lovely name! And itâs my birth month...and that of my brothers, too!â He stood up fully, looking at her through sunglass-covered eyes. âI am Karamatsu. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance!â
