Reasons why I will always love Digimon

1) It wasn’t afraid to be dark, but with a purpose.Among other things it dealt with divorce, death (a lot of death), betrayal, and it even had kids fighting the literal [digital] devil. It was never dark for the sake of being dark, it always had a greater message or impact than trying to shock you. (Admit it, the D-reaper scared the shit out of you as a kid)

2) It wasn’t afraid of change. Every new season brought something new to the universe, and while some weren’t very good there was a lot that was. There is something for almost anyone in a season of Digimon, you just have to find the right season for you, and thankfully you don’t need to watch the other seasons to watch a single season (Excluding the Adventure 01/02 and Tri series, but they are really more like one long series).

3) They care about their fans. I’m not saying that other series don’t care about their fans but when you look at the new Tri movies you can really tell that it was a labour of love and a gift for the fans of the Adventure 01/02 series. This series is geared towards the people who watched 01/02 when they were younger and they are a more mature series that has grown up with its fan base.

4) Character Development.  If you ever want to see a great example of a way to treat character growth and development look at Ken’s redemption arc in 02. Unlike a different kids anime (which I also love dearly) Digimon isn’t afraid to test its characters and make them grow. They learn just as much from failure as victories.

I tried something new with this jacket, instead of drafting a pattern and then fitting it, I padded my mannequin until it matched my customer’s measurements (plus ease) and draped the pattern directly on the form. I then transferred the pieces to paper to cut out the final pieces.

I was lucky to have enough fabric to complete the jacket as I bought the end of the bolt and both my local stores were out of stock. The shell is made of a navy cotton twill and is lined with red satin.

As I was limited on fabric I opted not to make a full vest. Instead it is more like a half cumber-bun attached to the lining of the jacket.

I bought about 10 different types of buttons trying to find the perfect ones. I ended up using snaps for cloth diapers as they laid flat and were the perfect size, shape, and color.

I didn’t want a zipper down the front of the jacket as I felt it would ruin the overall effect, so I used the front lapels as a panel to hide the zipper. The panel is held in place with 14 visible and 4 invisible snaps.

Side note: I’ve tried posting this a few times and tumblr keeps eating it… :(

Throwback Thursday™ is here and i said i would be bringing that good, good Gundam Wing nostalgia~ and here it is! (-^     v   ^-);; technically, i never really worked through my love for this series, because i was too scared to take part in fandom when i was younger! so i poured more affection into this piece than i anticipated! LOL! which is why i only have the lineart ready today! hopefully i can have the full color version finished for next thursday! anyway!!! i hope you all enjoy it! (O    w O) it’s a bit more… ummm… a bit more everything than my usual work! hahaha!!! (>   w <);;; hopefully i don’t destroy it in the coloring process!

Tinkering a bit with Photoshop. I’m going to be working on a full set tomorrow, trying out some different coloring techniques and whatnot so hopefully I’ll have the finished products with pilots 1 - 6 by then. ^^
