The meaning of life

I was contemplating what the purpose of life was recently (I'm seww deep, I know), and they only thing I could come up with is that those of us who strive for life, do so mostly because we want life to continue. We buy clothes and make ourselves look good in our standards to try and attract and keep a mate. We shop for groceries to feed our families. We get jobs to survive so that our children will survive. We want to make money and put it away to invest in our futures and our children's futures as well. Of course there are some exceptions to this, but I couldn't think of one major thing I do in my life that doesn't correlate to making the future a better place for our descendants. (I'm looking at you, future great-great-great-great robot-fighting ninja granddaughter) I don't really find the idea of "Be born, go to school, get a job, get married, have kids, work work work work work, retire, die" to be so welcoming. I want to do something really incredible on this earth, but I don't know what I'm going to do or how to go about doing it, and I think that's one of the scariest things of all. Maybe it just comes with my age, but I don't know. I have to leave my mark on this earth somehow, and I feel like I'm wasting time trying to figure out what.
