we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
torrents work like this
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
please learn to torrent
An expert guide to get started using torrentsTorrents are one of the most popular forms of file sharing on the internet, accounting for over
always use qbittorrent, do not use bittorrent or utorrent.

we got a full redbox and now we're playing go fish with the redbox movies
I would never pay money for a redbox. if you ask politely and are very very persistent (i.e. annoying) they will let you take it away
here's my dad and i taking it away
a redbox makes a wonderful addition to your patio
Wifeplay where you have sex with your wife who loves you and you love her
Man Im sorry for snapping at you , uts just that I only got 8 hours of sleep last night and I only had like, two pandcakes with strawberrys and whipped cream and like three premium sausags for breakfast
they're trying to make you hate sex and porn and hate being fat again therefore it is imperative that all fatties fuck nasty in the streets 2day
big thing about gacha games as a medium and phenomenon that people here on this website of westerners don't talk about when telling you not to play the ontologically evil gambling games that make you a gambling addict if you touch them (because they're evil gambling games) is the social aspect. they literally call em social games over in japan. they're popular because you play them with your friends. they give you something to talk about with other people. they give you victories and defeats to bond with other people over. all with no upfront cost.
playing mobage is intentionally designed as a social activity even if the game itself is single player. add me as a friend! join my guild! people enjoy these games not just on their own merits but as group activities. people get defensive over what mobage they play and stick with them long after they stop actually enjoying them not (solely) because they're sunk cost fallacing about all the time and/or money they poured into the game, but because the game provides an avenue to obtaining social interaction and prestige with a comparatively low barrier of entry. sticking with the game makes you part of an ingroup. watch this youtube video about who to roll for so that you have the right units in your account to show you're playing the game correctly! play the game to be one of us!
it's not about the gambling. it hasn't been about the gambling in a long time. players who don't spend a cent but log in every day are still statistics that can be shown to investors. they still add to the size of the ingroup. I would not be surprised if the actual gambling makes up an increasingly small part of the average gacha game's earnings these days. it's battlepasses with exclusive items to get you playing every day. it's paid outfits for your characters to show off on social media. it's not about the jpegs themselves. it's not about the gambling itself. it's social prestige among the ingroup of players. it's peer pressure.
telling people to stop playing their gacha games because it's gambling is a deeply ineffective tactic because very often it's not the gambling that's keeping them there. you're functionally telling them to drop their social circle because of an aspect of the game that they might not even actually interact with directly. they're not gonna do that no matter how helpful or correct you think you are! you just sound like a preachy outsider who doesn't know what they're talking about.
skip your dailies every now and then to check if it's not just obligation that keeps you logging in.
