So after 10 months I've finished my teaching :( sad times. I'm currently back in my home town reflecting. I stayed in a place called Rayong in Thailand one hour from Pattaya and two hours from Bangkok. Not a tourist place just mainly Thais which was nice as it was authentic. Loved it there. Teaching was fantastic. If I'm totally honest I've never thought of myself as a "children's" person so to speak. In the past I always got a bit worried by them, maybe because the very few experiences I had interacting they cried so I thought best avoid. So I don't really know how I got into this. Initially a pretty terrifying experience. First day, I'm told go in sing a few songs and make them laugh....😱 Hahaha it wasn't great. The school I was teaching at (pre school, ages 0-5, I had the oldest at 4-5) believed in testing the children every week. The test consisted of the children reading the flash cards held. This then changed and I would describe the flash card item and they had to tell me what it was. They also filmed every test and put it on Facebook. That way the parents could see for themselves the progression. It was hardcore. Initially I was always pulled up by the directors but by the end I was told I was the highest achieving teacher in respect to results of the kids in the school. I have no idea how I did it. The children themselves were absolutely fantastic. 4-5 years old and spoke English as well as me. I was so impressed with them but I also felt sorry for them and that was a reason I left as well. The element of proper play and freedom was taken out of their lives and some could be a little socially awkward. Some children started school at 730- 5 then piano 5-6 then maths 630-730, for a 4 year old that's intense actually for any child! I was out playing the whole time. If I wasn't my parents were pissed! I felt toward the end of my stay that they needed a teacher with more energy toward them so thought best to go. I loved them and miss them. I became very good friends with my co teacher pookie. I worked with her everyday and she became a strong person in my life. When things got tough she was there and I miss her more than anything but at the same point I'm blessed to have even met her. She taught me a lot and I'll never forget ❤💔
