Testing this turquoise glaze again. Thicker or thinner application affects the color quite a bit — every glaze seems to have its own personality in the way it responds to the hand-dipped process, the clay it’s paired with and the firing it’s subjected to. I spend too much time trimming foot rings but feel it’s a detail that’s worth it. Not only does the foot ring provide a level of finish to a piece, but it affects the way an object meets the surface it’s resting on. I know, nerdy.
