"Sure, free coffee," Sofia agreed, taking the drink from her friend. She preferred tea but who was she to say no to free? Besides she was still trying to adjust her sleep schedule back to being in the land of the living. Sofia had been working nights since she was nineteen years old, ten years being awake all night and crashed out most of the day was hard to shift back from.

After taking a small sip she held it against her waste. "So once we get your coffee fixed where are we headed?" she asked him. unaware of the specifics to his plan.

Bodhi chuckled. Watching her accept the coffee and contemplating getting himself a new one. He’d already drank a few, perhaps this was the universe’s way of telling him to stop. At the question he scanned the area once more. There weren’t many places left, but the place was also big enough that anyone might disappear there.

“Yes my coffee fix,” he agreed, as he tried to find another stand so he wouldn’t look to desperate at the place he’d just bought the coffee from that was now in Sofia’s hand. “After… perhaps the north side of the fair. We haven’t see every part yet, still enough to explore.” He sighed. “Last year this place was almost deserted, too much going on, too many people afraid of staying in a dangerous town.”

Bodhi wasn't one for fairs like this one, though he remembered the last big event he'd been at and the very nice lady and her son who he'd helped. This time around, he was on a mission. He had a face committed to memory and was hoping they'd make an appearance at the fair so he could tell a concerned mother that they were just avoiding her and hadn't gone to London.

He took a sip from his coffee and realised as it went down that they'd made a mistake on his order. He coughed and looked back at the cup. "Oef, that's... I've forgotten coffee with sugar really isn't my thing," he said with a slight laugh. "Are you interested? It would be a waste to throw it away."

Amir annexes a prolonged glance at the individual before conceding the point, a pronounced nod of his head meeting their amused witticism. Instead of laughing along with the joke, however, Amir imbues what he can only parade as his own amusement. "You should," he concurs. Working out regularly improves physical health, boosts mental well-being, increases energy levels, and enhances overall quality of life. He wouldn't go so far as to preach his dogma; a simple, "It's good for you," should suffice.

Taking a peep at the social media update, Amir is satisfied with the information and chuckles to himself. "Congratulations are in order for when I see him next." He grips the strap on his gym bag, pressing his mouth into a thin line as he considers his next move. The subtle shift in his expression reveals a man contemplating the intersection of past routines and future possibilities.

The idea of joining the digital age tugs at him, a reminder of how far he has come from his days of isolation and self-imposed exile. Succumbing to more small talk, he ponders aloud, "I should really make one of those things, huh? A Facebook." The words hang in the air, blending with the absent noise of the gym—their were no rhythmic clanging of weights, the hum of treadmills, nor the faint murmur of conversations; just a blank glass and his reflection staring back.

Bodhi shrugged. "If my life-style allowed for it, I probably would," he admitted. "Though these twenty-four hour gyms do make it almost impossible to not walk into one despite my hours." He shrugged. "I've always felt like in order to do a good work-out, you need a life that has some rhythm, wouldn't you agree? It doesn't work if your heart is only half in it." And his wouldn't ever be in it, he knew that much. He might give it a chance once, but then instantly forget about it a second later.

He smiled. "You don't need a facebook account to see business accounts," he informed the other. "They haven't walled off that information yet." If they had, Bodhi's job would've been a lot harder, there was so much people shared on Facebook that really had no reason to be on the internet. Facebook and Instagram was often the way he tended to find the people he was looking for, both open to the public. Only for Tiktok did he need to have an account now-a-days.

He frowned. "Are you alright?" he asked. There was nothing really substantial that gave him the impression the other wasn't, just a gut-feeling.

There was little that Beatrice set her mind to that she wasn't able to accomplish. Even when she felt over her head...once she tied her hair back and organized things by the minute, she could see a clear path ahead. One of the first things she did after moving to Fenrir was look into local plants in the area. There had been a line or two in some dusty old book, maybe the suggestion of a something rare hidden in the woods from a magazine published in the past five years. Even a professor mentioned an uncommon flower once or twice. She was determined to find if there was actually anything of note actually in the woods. Equipped with only the essentials, she entered the woods - was the plant calling out to her? Something in her gut nudged her in a specific direction. Beatrice wondered if the rare bloom released a pheromone for local pollinators since it blossomed so rarely. When she came across it, at first glance, she thought it glowed under the moonlight. ( Or was it just the light from her torch? ). The blossom seemed so delicate, all Beatrice wanted to do was reach out and touch -- She blinked, and the world around her became a blur. Her stomach sloshed, like she'd just drank a glass of sea water. Hadn't she just been in the woods? Could the flower's scent be this strong? Her feet seemed to guide her down the side of the road. The bookstore, under the lamplights, past the library...Had she seen the cafe? Where exactly was she going? Bea didn't know how long it had been until she finally came to. It didn't happen all at once, but each step brought back another whisp of clarity. Beatrice takes her first deep breath. She didn't know what, but something about the whole night felt off. Wrong. "Wh...where am I?" She asks. "What...what time is it?" Never the type to ask anyone for assistance, her voice quiets when she finally pleads, "Can you help me?"

Bodhi was always out during the full moon, against better judgement because he knew he shouldn’t be. He knew he was an easy target, and that Evanora would be worried for him. But he had one night that offered him a good chance to find the missing students, and he had to take it.

He had no clue yet of anything amiss, until the Werewolves had shown up in town, and thinking that the Witches would protect them, he hurried to the more crowded places, seeking more bodies to keep them out of trouble.

He ran into one, who seemed disorientated. Giving her a once-over quickly, he offered his arm for her to lean on. “You’re near the Duck Pond,” he said, "in the centre. It’s… five am. Are you alright?” he asked, as he searched in his backpack one-handed for his water bottle. “Here, drink something.”

"I wish I could say I was sorry but I'm not at all," she joked of him saying he felt fit for the role of being the emotional one between them that day. Taking a seat across from him and scooting herself in. "Not that I want you sad or anything, I'm sure with what a reasonable guy you are it's totally resolve-able," not totally a word.

She listened as he opened a menu, Sofia leaning in as he seemed to have opened it for the pair of them. She had thought the person he liked knowingly liked him back but things were just slow so it was interesting to learn they were actually unaware of his interest until now. "Yes, food, you pick," she insisted, sure if she was left to decide she'd order half the menu.

"So...this person, they finally noticed you in what way? An officially romantic way?" Sofia asked, excitement evident in the height of her tone.

Bodhi continued to smile, he found her energy to be renewing, interesting, but most of all something he didn’t know he would’ve ever wanted in his life. He’d always been on the road, going from city to city, case to case, very few people stuck around. Because he never did. And even when he’d been younger, everyone who was his friend was in some way connected to his father, and there was this expectance from all of them that they’d like him no matter what. To be liked just for who he was, and not for who he was connected with or what he did, was a new sensation. And Sofia’s friendship towards him seemed completely genuine, it softened his heart.

“I perhaps should’ve chosen a more reasonable person to get a crush on,” he joked. Because Evanora could be fierce and fiery and completely confuse him. Yet it didn’t push him away at all. He nodded, and then scanned the menu for a few different options, so they could share should Sofia not like the option he picked. He waved down a waiter and gave their orders, making sure that there was a jug of coffee on the list.

He bit his lip. “Yes, in an officially romantic way,” he said. “It’s been… interesting,” he admitted. “I told her how I felt… and I figured she’d shoot me down or just run off, but instead she… invited me back to her place.” He blushed. Perhaps he was a school boy.

Time passed differently around them — a bubble formed from wants and needs that enveloped them both. She could blame it all on the power beyond Bodhi's understanding — the kind of force that clouded his judgement and used him as a pawn — a puppet on strings.

She was afraid to puncture it — intoxicated by something that she didn't even deserve. She could never earn any of this. The witch only ever deserved the loneliness she chose for herself — that ever bitter life, Bodhi had no place in.

Bodhi bit his lip, words stuck on his tongue, thoughts slipping, as if it didn’t matter what Evanora said, he couldn’t let go of her.

He studied her face closely, the little bubble that surrounded them was so forceful, so tight that he’d completely forgotten where he was. He solely focussed on who he was with. Someone who was intent on stating that she did not deserve someone, that she was not good for this, that they couldn’t be. But any time he heard that, he just wanted to work harder to make sure she knew that he didn’t care.

Evanora didn’t know his past. Didn’t know his roots, not what his father had been capable of, what his sister was most likely capable of now. How he’d been cast aside. He wasn’t a murderer, but he’d thought he’d become one, eventually. Bloody knuckles from faces smashed because his father wanted him to do it.

Yet now, after all these years, his gestures, his life, his intentions, all of them had softened. There was nothing left of the boy who’d wanted to convince his father he had what it took to lead the criminal organisation.

“I can’t,” he simply stated. “It’s impossible.”

An invitation she did not expect. Perhaps she should've — given it was how he's always behaved towards her; with kindness, even on the first night they met. Foolishly enough he'd given her shelter, and gentleness she did not deserve. She knew — Evanora saw it as easy as flicking a page out of a well read novel. His false hope, the one that was going to end up like all damned things did. A false hope, that this time there might be a different ending.

Her hands followed his own — all soft, all goosebumps that Nora tickled with the uneven caress of trembling fingers.

She wanted to wrap herself around him, let him pull her into his insides and build her a home there — a home that would last, that would not end up in ruins. An impossible thing — loving him, a human in a destructive and deadly world. He coud've been a purpose, a thing to guard — she could've been his armour, she still could be, if she only —

"Come home with me."

Bodhi noticed how cold he was becoming, how the rain was soaking through every part of his clothes, how he wished to do away with them. To get rid of all the layers and find either a hot shower or soft blankets. Yet, none of that was interesting without Evanora there too. His breath was heavy in the back of his throat, his body attempting to heat him up, his cheeks burning already.

Despite his many years on this earth, he'd never been this clear on his love for another person. To be closer to someone who he didn't know that well, but who he felt like he wanted to get to know better. He understood Evanora, at least, her opinion of herself, the heavy weight she put on her shoulders, the strength she did have when she was faced with adversity. Perhaps he understood her in a different way.

He placed a hand on her cheek, his thumb pushing away the drops of water and her wet hair. "Okay," he said, as he let her hand fall away from the small of her back and instead laced his fingers with hers. "Lead the way."

"You did not have to tell me twice," she smiled as she reached him, immediately going in for a hug but half expecting him to decline it. Some people were huggers - like herself - and some weren't. She had an odd feeling Bodhi was someone who only participated in hugs when there was a specific necessity to them, like if someone was upset, so if he declined she would not be concerned.

Hopefully the place had some vegan options, honestly so far the town had been both amazing as having vegan options while at the same time totally torturing her with all the other options. She was still amazed she had survived watching that girl eat endless delicious wings, it was hard not to ask for just one. "Plus we get to hang when I'm not crazy emotional," she joked. "It's your turn."

Bodhi accepted the hug, more because he figured Sofia was in need of one, than that he was a man who would hug people himself. He wasn't a hugger, perhaps he could be, but growing up him and his sister had never been allowed to express any physical needs. If the situation called for it however, Bodhi did see the need of physical touch. But he was always aware of mutual consent regarding it.

He chuckled, though the comment of being 'crazy emotional' felt true. Not as terrible as he'd been during the Pink Moon, when he felt like he'd probably almost scared Evanora away with how emotional he'd been. "It had to come at some point," he joked in return. "I do feel like I'm fit for the role right now," he said. "As if I'm a school kid with a crush, and my crush finally noticed me." He opened the menu for the both of them. It was full with vegan options, which was easy for him, and he knew the coffee was delicious. "Food first though?" he asked.

Rex watched Bodhi carefully, giving a short nod. The man didn’t strike him as a typical private investigator, but who was he to judge? The spirits’ whispers seemed to buzz more excitedly around him now, intrigued by this new piece of information. “Fair enough,” Rex said with a shrug. “Sounds like little details like that are exactly what you should be picking up on, if that’s the case,” he added, his tone light and teasing as he offered Bodhi a playful smile.

“I’m a mechanic, down at Win Garage,” he explained absent-mindedly. “Must be interesting work, what you do,” Rex said, trying to glean more without prying too much, or too obviously. “This town’s got its fair share of secrets.”

Bodhi smiled and nodded. "It is part of the job," he agreed. "Though I am no Sherlock Holmes." And neither would he want to be, perhaps he'd want the talent, but to be as stuck up and over-confident scared him. He accepted his flaws, even those he attempted to hide by hiding his past. He saw value in how he didn't know everything yet. Among which the identities of most of the Supernatural in Fenrir's Wood, even if he now had his in with Evanora to figure out more, and after his participation in taking down Hel, he also knew with certainty two of the highest placed individuals.

"So if my car ever breaks down?" he asked, trying for a joke. At the mention of the secrets Fenrir's Wood held, he sighed. "I'm on the case of the missing students, the three who disappeared in 2022," he said. An old case it felt like now, but he was still determined. "However, aside from that, I sadly get a lot of missing husband and missing pets cases." And the missing husbands were 80% of the time cheating. "So not that interesting."

“An anomaly. Right.” Reza took another swig of his drink. “So you’re sayin’ that tio’s the best lead you’ve had cause he’s not white? Kind of racist of you.” It was a shallow jab, but he didn’t care. He was tired of the other’s yapping about Miguel’s murder, but he didn’t want to be the one to leave. It would seem like he’d lost, though Bodhi didn’t seem to know that they were playing. Hell, Reza didn’t even know what he was competing for, but he was for sure didn’t want to lose.

He propped his elbow on the counter and rested his head against his knuckles. “No.” Reza shook his head, heaving a heavy sigh. “Conspiracies aren’t really my thing, you see. I prefer a more hands-on hobby.” His eyes lazily travelled from Bodhi’s handsome face to his chest then to his hip then back up again, lips curled into a slow smile. “’Sides, if this is as big as you said it is, wouldn’t it make more sense for me to stay the fuck away from all this? I don’t want to end up the same as him, you know. I’m too pretty to die like that.” Not to mention that nobody would cry at his funeral, which was really depressing to think about.

Bodhi frowned, he could not say much about Miguel's roots, but he didn't think he'd specified whiteness. It didn't seem like that mattered much to the killer(s), it had been something about their blood, about their lineage to the original Vikings who had settled. Their last names all a hint of this lineage, Scandinavian names that were unfamiliar to Bodhi until he'd heard so many of them he'd begun to make sense of them. "He's my best lead because he doesn't follow the other's when it comes to the timing, and the conclusion. I am sorry that he is, but I need to figure out if there is a reason why he was deemed important enough to kill alongside all these people with family ties to the Vikings."

Clearly he would not get Reza along, but he did hope to convince him that if something did come to mind, that the other would contact him first. After all, he figured there was something, there had to be. Else where did he start? What could he do to find the missing students?

He frowned in contemplation. Having missed Reza scanning him. "Perhaps, I don't think you'd ever be a target, but I cannot be sure. The missing seem to have nothing to do with the Vikings," he said. He'd been on this case for almost two years, and he hadn't been taken himself, so he wondered if the one kidnapping people was out to hide themself.

"I know some hot doctors there, I attract the beautiful," she complimented herself, a far cry from the tears she'd had when he'd first seen her in the cafe. A lot of Sofia's confidence was just a barrier, a shield to hide how afraid she was, how lonely. It wasn't like she felt unworthy of any connections, she just was afraid to not have them, to be in situations where it was just her and her sister again.

Sofia nodded, recalling him asking if she had someone, wondering if he had asked her about Nibbler but not quite sure. The evening had been sort of a blur. "Well you definitely didn't ask me my favourite colour," she teased with a smile.

As he noted he wasn't fun she saw her phone light up against the table, her sisters name showing for a moment before she lifted it, still listening as she read that her sister wanted Sofia to bring home dinner when she could. "I'm more performatively fun," she shrugged. "I like this more than I like clubbing but it's a good distraction sometimes, all those senses."

Sofia couldn't speak to being unsure, even when her own situation was complicated she and Micah had never suffered through the pains of the unknown. It was immediate, electric. It was not the only sort of love though and while Sofia couldn't relate she didn't think it meant it wasn't genuine. "You should try and know, I promise you'll feel better, even if you think you feel worse, knowing feels better," she insisted, though laughed as he not only rejected the notion of the arse squeeze but refuting it with the term 'bottom' as though this were the news and words needed schooling.

"Well, you can give mine a squeeze for practice if you like, I'll tell you if you're any good," she winked at him, though began to stand, fortunately for him not to actually test this. "I have to get going, my sister is hungry and a hungry college student is hell, if I don't get home soon enough she'll probably eat raw ramen and a diet coke. But text me, yeah? Tell me about this mystery crush when you see things through."

Bodhi smiled and chuckled. "I think you're just a whole lot more social than you give yourself credit for." Which he didn't know was true, but he too wished to give her a response in jest. Certainly she hadn't been as talkative when they'd first met, but he didn't think it fit to judge a person on a first meeting. He was never someone who thought it was valuable to speak of 'good' first impressions. It set up standards that could be simply unreachable for some. "I didn't," he agreed, "I didn't think you'd take well to that question," he added.

He nodded, clubbing had only ever been something he'd done in his youth, and it had never been about the senses, it had been about being visible, being the little puppet his father had wanted him to be. "I will try," he promised her. And he knew he would.

He blushed a little, though it was hard to see on his cheeks, and looked momentarily confused as to why she had turned to stand, until she explained that she needed to feed her sister. "I'll keep you posted," he said. "And I look forward to our next meeting being a planned one."

Helia wanted him to be more engaged? Fine by him. But he was going to complain the entire time, or at least not follow the Queen BWitch’s rules. Rex surveyed the newly revamped so-called beachfront, his brows furrowed in mild confusion. He wouldn’t exactly call this a beach, but to each their own.

Rex’s train of thought and judgement was interrupted when Bodhi spoke. Following his gaze, he noticed the colourful graffiti adorning the wall. He took a moment to take in the artwork and shrugged. “Probably a bit of both,” he said, considering the mix of styles. “Some of it looks like your run-of-the-mill graffiti, but the larger piece seems more thought out.”

“But what do I know, I’m not an art expert.” He added with another shrug. The spirits’ whispers, both warnings and encouragements, made him curious about Bodhi. “What do you do?”

Bodhi nodded, slightly frowning as he was impressed by the well articulated and argued response, he could look through the other's words at the mural and come to the same conclusion. Perhaps a bit of both. At least some of the art that now adorned the walls seemed to indeed come from someone - or multiple someone's - who had come here with a vision, others were signs and words written on the surface that still looked amazing, but he wasn't sure if he'd call it art.

"Neither am I," he said with a smile, studying the wall still, then turned back to the stranger with a confused look. It was not a strange question, though usually he'd ask someone's name first. He was also used to being the one who asked all the questions, perhaps it threw him off guard not to be the one starting it. "I'm a private investigator," he said. "You?"

Juvenal had no nostalgic memories when it came to beaches and beach fronts. Having grown up in Keswick, he'd been too far inland to walk to any and with there being lakes and hiking trails in much closer proximity, he'd spent his days checking out what they had to offer instead. Beaches were very much rooted in Juvenal's adult life. Places he'd stopped on his travels to rest or get an easy meal when things were crowded. He didn't associate them with 'fun' of any kind. Just a stop along the way. Fenrir's recreation was no different, providing little more than a small resting spot where he could take a step aside from the busier streets

"It was probably started with good intentions. Most things usually are." He chirped up, glancing over at the wall the stranger was referring to. He'd never tried his hand at graffiti, but, he knew had the opportunity arose, he'd likely have given the community very little thought, especially when he was a teenager. "What is it, anyway? A lot of colours and smudges, but, I'm not really seeing anything." He squinted, pretending his problem came from not being close enough to fully see, rather than the truth of the matter being his inability to read. "I think it's good kids are painting, keeps them out of trouble."

Bodhi nodded, he did not dispute that fact. For one, he did believe that Graffiti perhaps was not such a smart choice for one's time, as it still amounted to vandalism, but on the other hand, he did also believe that cities needed spaces for kids to paint the walls, after all, it was a community space. He'd seen plenty of graffiti in Brighton, but he'd never gotten too close to those parties, his father had never liked those crowds, told his son to stay at a distance, as if they were a rival gang.

He remained at a distance as he looked at the art work. "I think it's a big bird," he said. "Along with what I think are signs or names, some are a bit hard to read," he added with a laugh. He studied the signs a bit closer, they were making up the wings of the bird, probably a script, but not from any language he knew. "I hope the city looks on that the same way, clearly the boring concrete needed some colour," he suggested.

Rumbles of low laughter respond to the question. Perhaps Amir's regimens and routines appear peculiar to others, but they are a necessity for maintaining a healthy life. He considers gym-time to be as essential as brushing one's teeth. The rhythmic clank of weights and the steady thrum of his heartbeat are as integral to his well-being as the sun’s rising each morning. Each repetition, every bead of sweat, forms a part of his sacred ritual, fortifying his body and soothing his mind. A singular nod follows. "Was just about to ask you when you're joining me. I've been looking for a new gym partner."

"But wait," he has more questions than answers, and so they fly out of the corners of his mouth faster than he could ever attempt to stop them. "What do you mean. Why's it suddenly closed on Friday's? What's happened to the owner?"

Bodhi frowned for a moment. He was lanky, working out had never fit his life because it required structure, and that was something the private investigator lacked. He was never sure if he would be called away for in a meeting, and he walked around enough in a day to say he at least maintained a healthy life-style - aside from all the coffee he downed.

He took another sip from his coffee. "Do I look like I work out?" he asked, though it was said with a whole lot of amusement because he kind of hoped Amir would say yes.

Looking back at the club and then at his phone, he did a quick search and held up the Facebook page for Amir to see. "Looks like the owner has a wedding this weekend," he said, smiling. "So don't be worried, he seems to be okay."

Bodhi supposed the way the relationship between himself and Evanora was going, was in fact something of an update. Though for the past weeks, he'd been enjoying the secrecy and intimacy of being with someone out of sight of most people. Not that he would've cared either way, he did keep some distance between himself and most citizens of Fenrir's Wood.

Except for Sofia and a few others.

He got up from the small table he'd claimed when he saw Sofia enter, a smile on his face and a little wave so she would notice him quicker. "Good afternoon, I figured a chance of scenery would be nice, and I have a soft spot for limited edition food items."

She responded almost instantly, as if her body already knew what to do — not giving her mind even the slightest chance to protest. She could blame it on the moon — the sudden closeness, the ease, the instinct to hold him, to respond to his every touch — Her lips found his — over, and over again. A gentle but certain shift of her head moving away — pulling their mouths apart, as her forehead rested against his own. "It's the moon — " she began, finding herself making excuses for what he was feeling — what they were feeling.

Reacting logically was even harder when Evanora was there, there were words on his tongue, there were words in his head, but nothing was able to pass between his lips. Only his hot breath as he held Evanora close.

There was a short moment where he heard the final notes of the last song The Forgotten played, but it was fleeting. He barely held his attention there, before it fell back.

"The moon," he repeated, as if he was listening and as if he understood what she was saying.

He kept her close, his hand on her cheek, his arm around her. What did he want to talk about?

"I don't remember, I just wanted to see you," he repeated. "And... and I had to tell you that I don't know how to be without you."
