relief? she knew it well, knew it intimately. she knew she shouldn’t do it — knew deep in her chest that she should ignore the sensation of yearning. yearning not for a person, but for a sensation — the inherent belief that she deserved to suffer. she doesn't realise her hand was shaking.

yearning for pain. more pain. exquisite pain. relief.

she was holding to a pen. she should write about it, she knows this — write about feeding the ever-hungry animal that came to her window every night, whispering for her to hurt herself again.

feed the beast. the beast is starving.

suddenly, the pen snaps in her hand. it’s only then, that her shaking quells.

“hey... katsuki,” she doesn’t realise she's used her first name, “what do you do when you're hungry?”

“do you think you frighten me?” the lily demon stretches out her arms, lacerations running up the exposed flesh, “that’s awfully presumptuous, don’t you think?”

“i understand that you’re upper moon one,” a giggle, “but if you’re going to eat me, i’d rather not have everything happen with my head bowed.”

“you’re so funny kokushibō-sama,” what’s wrong with yuri’s eyes? “that cult you run is nice though, i’ve manipulated people into worshipping me, too.”

“okay,” a breath out, even if her heart was racing, “you’ve spent all this time trying to teach me things — and i appreciate that. but i think it’s time i taught you something, michikatsu-san.”

she pulls out a small brush and a pot of ink, “start by thinking about something that… makes you feel a lot of things at once. you don’t have to navigate them immediately, but start with that.”

and then, the paper, “it could be a name, or a place, or a sound you heard one day — tell me when you’ve found something.”

“okay, fine!” she finally gives in — as difficult as it was, she decides to at last bite the bullet and say what was on her mind. a deep breath in, and then a shivering breath out, “i need to know how to — how to assert myself…”

“it’s immature and weird i know, but i — my friends — they want me to be braver,” iron grip on her own arm, “and i only know how to do that when i’m… talking about things i like.”

“so please!” she even bows her head to her, “please teach me—!”

and there was always something chilling about the lily demon. always left staring off in the distance, nobody knowing what was floating about her head — idly, claws much-too-long pick at her skin. blood starts to bead, before it heals once again.

“i’ve missed this,” she hums with a smile, “i’ve always wanted to be a part of something. but nobody really understood — did they? they never understood how lonely i was.”

lips twist back into a grin.

“let me be a part of your family, lord rui. i promise i won’t let you down!”

and admittedly, sometimes it was nice to just sit around nezuko. as much as she enjoyed spending time alongside other slayers — nezuko offered a sense of calm that she was yet to find with others who she spoke to. yuri wasn’t the most talented slayer out there — but with others, she did feel… a little… um…

nezuko was yet to give her any kind of burdening feeling. while the little demon was far from talentless, there was something that the two of them were able to connect over.

“don’t you feel… different?” she says with a shameful smile, “sometimes i feel different.”

“it’s kind of silly, i know,” hands on knees, she picks at a loose strand of string poking out, “sometimes i think things like — maybe i should just run away.”

“i know it hasn’t been easy for you, either,” a breath out. be brave, “b–but i’m glad you’re here.”

okay last post but for my followers who don't know ddlc this is basically all you need to know about y.uri:

18 years old, almost exiting high school but joined a literature club with some people she didn't know very well (and then grew to get to know them over time)

autistic queen of talking SO much about books she likes and taking any form of writing extremely seriously

quiet, reclusive and fumbles a lot of social situations. has a bad habit of unintentionally coming off as rude or saying the "wrong" thing

she has a fixation on knives (and does wear a lot of long sleeves as she does s/elf harm)

over the timeline of the game, she becomes more and more of an antagonist, as her character coding (as the game is about challenging of reality) gets messed with. this turns her from being relatively isolating, to becoming obsessive, overwhelming and much more violent towards herself (especially when she behaves in a non-acceptable way)

The sudden cry were unexpected, a brow raising in surprise as Michikatsu similarly stepped back--part of her half expected the stranger to swing the bag instead of simply holding it close like a shield.

And just as quickly, the other deflates and all but...cowers? She knew she could be intimidating, but such a reaction were still a bit over the top to Michikatsu. Did this kid think she were some monster leaping from the shadows?

A soft frown forms as she watches the strange behavior, arms crossing beneath her chest. "--are you quite certain you're alright?"

It didn't seem true at all--this one seemed full of nothing but worries. Could she make it home safely? Somehow, Michikatsu isn't confident in a positive answer. Michikatsu had initially just felt concern for a young girl walking out so late at night.

and there was a moment of silence, taking in the precious moments to calm herself. breath was gradually catching up to her; a hand resting on her chest in order to steady a racing heartbeat, “p–phew.”

and then, a hesitant nod.

“i am,” slightly, ever so slightly more confident-sounding, “i just — i’m a little eccentric. you don’t need to mind me at all.”

she hopes the lady hasn’t noticed that she’s yet to make eye-contact; ever-focusing on that little piece of gravel on the road. that’s weird, right? that’s probably weird.

“now if you’ll excuse me…” she says slowly, and yet, doesn’t move forward or past michikatsu. she’s silently praying she’ll get the message, “i should probably…”

a flush of her cheeks in total humiliation. she can’t say it.

d.emon s.layer verse concepts.

concept i. in this concept, yuri is a human. these verses are connected, depending on where in the timeline you want to start. she begins her demon slaying work seemingly fumbling in any kind of breath area. however, one thing she does seem to excel at is written poetry; writing to herself in her quiet time - venting about frustrations and her day-to-day life. she's not talented at fighting, usually too frightened to cut off a demon's head. nobody seems to know about her passion for poetry (yet).

concept ii. in this concept, yuri is a demon. this happens later in her timeline. during this (tw), she allowed herself to be converted due to the ever-lingering feeling of wanting to endanger herself. she hated herself so much, and eventually became pushed to change into something else; something stronger. her personality completely shifted upon being turned into a demon - no longer shy or flustered or constantly making mistakes. she revels in her strength now, poetry being a passion long-since forgotten about.

“k–kyaah!” the sudden cry out from being talked to in the stillness of the night — oh, what an idiot! now she had to explain why she was out so late, left screeching at the first unfortunate stranger to come her path.

yuri immediately grabbed to her bag slung over her shoulder — before slowly, every hair that stood on end started to flatten back down.

“i–i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to make so much—” she shrinks, “—noise.”

her hands leave her bag, and she bows forward in apology.

“i’m just on my way home now — there’s nothing to worry about, i promise,” she was just coming back from natsuki’s — they’d spent a little too much time discussing her latest manga fixation. not that… the stranger needed to know that, right?

a little too stiffly, she straightens back up — averting eyes.
