Not to be a glazer but I think the reason Hozier fans don’t have a song we can point to and say “meh wasn’t great” or “kinda bad” is cause he spends YEARS on his albums.
I mean his first album had its 10 year anniversary recently and he’s only ever released 3 albums, he averages like 4-5 years between albums. He spends time on his music, he isn’t pumping it out just to make an album. It’s not like I’d never speak bad about his music cause I like him, but it’s cause he genuinely crafts his music to make it as good as he possibly can, which is refreshing in this day and age of how music is…
In the club. Straight up “shaking it.” And by “it,” haha, well. Let’s justr say. My tambourine.
Old Hozier tweet vibes

Lovely
i just started listening to hozier (ik, like over a decade late, whatever), but bruh. some of y'all did this dude so dirty. everything i've ever seen of him on here has been like "uwu magical forest man" and so my black ass goes into it expecting white boy indie music, but instead i get this radical leftist irish guy straight up singing the blues, like?? (singing the blues/having a lot of blatantly black musical influences, BUT crediting his influences in the process, which is a an important distinction)
like y'all. has anyone told tiktok what kind of music this man actually makes? bc some of them might be shooketh to find out their precious forest man is actually telling them to dismantle the oppressive institution of colonialism while actively paying homage to artists of color
well, that and also to eat pussy, but same thing tbh
YES. He’s very open about his influences, I mean “Jackie and Wilson” on his debut album is a tribute to Jackie Wilson. Plus his song “Nina cried power!” Where he features Mavis Staples (fun fact: when I went to see his show Mavis had just had her birthday and he wanted to shout her out) and shouts out civil rights activists.
A lot of people don’t know about his single “Jackboot Jump” which is SO political, it calls out countries by name and discusses how, even though governments are trying to squash descent, public protest is HAPPENING and that it’s something to celebrate.
And don’t even get me started on his songs with themes of the church and colonialism.
(The reason I set my blog as “bog-father” is cause it sounded like “god-father” and I thought it was funny)
I want my life to feel like what the Work Song background visuals looks like again please 🙏🧀

Did yall hear that even though Hozier was headlining the Reading and Leeds Festival the BBC didn’t air his set
Sadly I’m not surprised
“Irish musicians rapping or supporting the people of Palestine is NOT an act of terrorism… Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, DJ Próvaí, you know them.” - Hozier
