being gay is okay but dating a Boston raider is where I draw the line

“she would have loved you… like i love you.” stabbing me would have been less painful.

oh and by the way :
will says "i don't like girls" and it cuts to mike.
will says "i mean i do, just not like you guys" and it cuts to lucas and dustin.
do what you want with this information.
"not all men" yeah you're right, my close friends ilya rozanov and shane hollander would NEVER
If you had told me last month that my interest in heated rivalry would result in me agreeing so heavily with straight men hockey podcast hosts on their analysis of a gay tv show I would’ve laughed for hours. I feel like I’m in an alternate universe that I don’t want to leave
“Someone somewhere is searching for you in every person they meet.”

“don’t take it personally” how would you like me to take it then? professionally? romantically? academically?
Okay hear me out. I like Heated Rivalry, it’s a great show and yes the statistics are there that there must be closeted NHL players. I also like that because people are interacting with HR that they are seeing NHL content and also getting into the sport.
Being an NHL fan is great and I’m happy the fan base is growing but you cannot claim any close friends playing in the NHL are ‘real life’ Shane and Ilya. You can’t. I’ve seen it a lot recently with Will and Macklin from SJ Sharks where people are openly commenting on Instagram and TikTok comparing them to HR. Those two have a really special friendship and we should all be grateful they’re comfortable enough with each other to show it publicly.
This? Comparing them to Shane and Ilya? Publicly telling Will Smith ‘you know it’s okay to be gay’ is not acceptable. These are real people with real feelings. This isn’t a book. They don’t owe you their sexuality and it’s no one’s business but their own. Please leave NHL players alone 😭 they’re just doing their jobs with their besties and don’t deserve to feel uncomfortable doing it.
Obvs keeping things to closed fandom spaces is slightly different, but insta and mainstream social media? Come on guys we’re better than this
ANGEL BABY 😭😭
wish they did a close up of this hehe
No cuz I genuinely started laughing 😭
so about episode 5 and Ilya's confession:
as a non-native English speaker, saying "i love you" in my native language is harder and means so much more than saying it in English. it comes from deeper in my heart, there's no language "filter", it's my real voice, even if the person in front can't understand me
and im assuming that it's the same for Ilya

Scott and Kip’s moment and how Shane and Ilya reacted is why queer visibility is so important.
Conservative people always say queer people shouldn’t be so loud or open about who we are. They’ll tell us to hide away, to keep our “life style” private and “no one needs to see that.” They hate seeing any amount of queer representation and think it’s “indoctrination.”
Well other queer people need to see that representation. We need to see other people like us who can be ourselves loudly and proudly. It means the world to see people who are like you out in the world who are happy. Especially in spaces where you don’t often see that representation. It’s so much less scary knowing you’re not alone. Representation and community is everything.
