#40DayMiracle Day 40: Living with purpose is the only way to really live.
I embarked on a journey at the beginning of this year where I started reading this book entitled The Purpose Driven Life. A book I’ve had for a long time, read numerous times over and over from the very first page, but never finished.Â
It says that it could change your life once completed. I am happy and contented with my life but of course it just seems right to aim for a brighter tomorrow. That is why with this reason together with my interest to once again have a consistently active blog (as I post a reflection after each chapter of the book’s 40), I am here now almost three months later, able to finally read the book from cover to cover. Though I think I should have done this in 40 days rather than around 75 as the reason the book has 40 chapters is that God makes miracles in 40 days, I still got the job done somehow.Â
Why did it take me long? I wasn’t really having fun and then I got lazy. When I read this the first time around 4 years ago, I was so happy that sometimes I’d end up reading two chapters a day - I was always looking forward to reading what’s next.
During that time, life I thought was actually hard on me that I was really looking for anything that could uplift my spirit as compared to right now where I’m in much better place, plus either I just learned the book’s content on my own through my experiences or the the lessons have just been repetitive, which makes the book less interesting, but being a person who finish what he starts and having my desire for a miracle in life (as the book claims), I still finished it.
Regardless if it’s the book’s fault for being repetitive or mine for having had learned things on my own, I am genuinely happy to have had mutuality with the entirety’s conclusion. It says, make a life purpose statement that you could repeat to yourself to remind of of everything from the book (our five purposes in life) to inspire me everyday. The thing is I already have that: I am a soldier of love walking by faith and not by sight, serving others for the greater glory of God.Â
I believe God has already worked on a miracle in my life prior to me finishing the book, but it was a good experience to have been reminded and refreshed of it all. As I am abundant of His blessing, I will continue to share it unto others.Â
#40DayMiracle Day 39: Blessed are the balanced.
We have five purposes in life:
1. Worship 2. Ministry 3. Evangelism 4. Fellowship 5. Discipleship
To succeed in all these, we have to surround ourselves with people who can keep us in check; regularly make personal reflections; immortalize important life lessons; and serve as guidance to others.
#40DayMiracle Day 38: The great commission is my commission.
Become a world-class Christian. “Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too.” Pray for the world, act and know that you do in life echoes in eternity.
Don’t just stop with close friends and family. Offer your heart for service to the world and aim for a place without strangers.
#40DayMiracle Day 37: God wants to say something to the world through me.
That would have to be by how we live which is supposed to be a life of service and sacrifice - a life of love. We need to be able to tell the world about the good news of salvation - the good life in eternity. At first these were all words, but then God turned it all into flesh by Jesus which we shall live like - our purpose.
#40DayMiracle Day 36: I was made for a mission.
If you believe in God then know that you aren’t sent to this world without a purpose. You were born with a mission which is to spread love to those around you. You are blessed and so be a blessing. Do not just live your life for yourself. Yes, be contented but keep on working to achieve better heights. Then, as great as you are, be a man for others.Â
#40DayMiracle Day 35: God works best when I admit my weakness
When I was a kid I had a lot of insecurities, too many to even mention. I had low self-esteem. I even though me being born was a mistake and that I would grow-up a big failure never to accomplish anything. Then there was one day that I just accepted everything that I am. This was I found out, it’s not my fault I’m not perfect and it’s not just me, everyone else has their own weakness. From then on I just became happier and stronger. in me, God has forged a better love soldier.
#40DayMiracle Day 34: To be a servant I must think like a servant.
To think like a servant simple means to think like Christ.Â
Being more thoughtful of others than yourself; not comparing yourself with others; not casting judgment over others; not worried about what others might say not asking for praise from others.
Loving is like the army - “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” Hence, we are the Soldiers of Love.
#40DayMiracle Day 33: I serve God by serving others.
Life is simple. You are blessed and so share upon others your blessings. You were made to spread love in serving others. Touch people’s heat and heal the world with one random act of kindness at a time.
#40DayMiralce Day 32: God deserves my best.
Nobody is good at everything, and no one is called to be everything.
Conversely, nobody was meant for nothing. All of us are to be something for God has blessed us with gifts - we just have to find out what.Â
The best way to do that is to never be afraid trying out anything, with everything you have, for “Sometimes the dreams that come true are the dreams you never even knew you had”
#40DayMiracle Day 31: Nobody else can be me.
We are all uniquely shaped by God so that each of us will play a significant role in life. It is through our experiences that this work is mostly done specially those painful ones. This is because everything else that we gain from birth and acquire through growth are like guns but the scars and bruises from hurts and sufferings are what loads our skills. Whether be we are good are writing, singing, or anything else, only when we have acquired passion can we share our blessing to others.Â
“Experience is not what happens to you. It is what you do with what happens to you” What will you do with what you’ve been through? Don’t use your pain; use it to help others.
#40DayMiracle Day 30: I was shaped for serving God.
We have all heard people say, “I took a job I hate in order to make a lot of money, so someday I can quit and do what I love to do.” That’s a big mistake. Don’t waste your life in a job that doesn’t express your heart. Remember, the greatest things in life are not things. Meaning is far more important than money. The richest man in the word once said, “A simple life in the fear-of-God is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches.”
It is said that when you are doing what you love to do, no one has to motivate you. I guess there are those that will say this is BS because finding out what you love to do is easy but getting paid is not, specially if you’re not one of the best in what you do. That second part messes the whole thing up but God didn’t say anything about getting paid, at least not worldly monetary values. `
Get a job where you’re good at to get your money and while you’re at it, do what you love - and do it to give God glory.
#40DayMiracle Day 29: Service is not optional.
What is to holding us back from accepting God’s call to serve Him? Just a bunch of excuses not worth making.Â
Abrahan was old, Jacob was insecure, Leah was unattractive, Joseph was abused, Moses stuttered, Gideon was poor, Samson was codependent, Rahab was immoral, David had an affair and all kinds of family problems, Elijah was suicidal, Jeremiah was depressed, Jonah was reluctant, Naomi was a widow, John the Baptist was eccentric to say the least, Peter was impulsive and hot-tempered, Martha worried a lot, the Samaritan woman had several failed marriages, Zacchaeus was unpopular, Thomas had doubts, Paul had poor health, and Timothy was timid. That is quite a variety of misfits, but God used each of them in His service.
No excuse delivers us from our purpose. Serve others with Love as Jesus did and bring greater glory of God.
#40DayMiracle Day 28: There are no shortcuts to maturity.
”One day, a man saw a cocoon. He loved butterflies and had a craze for its wonderful combination of colours. In fact, he used to spend a lot of time around butterflies. He knew how a butterfly would struggle to transform from an ugly caterpillar into a beautiful one.
He saw the cocoon with a tiny opening. It meant that the butterfly was trying to make its way out to enjoy the world. He decided to watch how the butterfly would come out of the cocoon. He was watching the butterfly struggling to break the shell for several hours. He spent almost more than 10 hours with the cocoon and the butterfly. The butterfly had been struggling very hard for hours to come out through the tiny opening. Unfortunately, even after continuous attempts for several hours, there was no progress. It seemed that the butterfly had tried its best and could not give any more try.
The man, who had a passion and love for butterflies, decided to help the butterfly. He got a pair of scissors and tweaked the cocoon to make larger opening for the butterfly and removed the remaining cocoon. The butterfly emerged without any struggle!
Unfortunately, the butterfly looked no longer beautiful and had a swollen body with small and withered wings.
The man was happy that he had made the butterfly come out of the cocoon without any more struggles. He continued to watch the butterfly and was quite eager to see it fly with its beautiful wings. He thought that at any time, the butterfly might expand its wings, shrink the body and the wings could support the body. Unfortunately, neither did the wings expand nor the swollen body reduce.
Unfortunately, the butterfly just crawled around with withered wings and a huge body. It was never able to fly. Although the man did it with a good intention, he did not know that only by going through struggles the butterfly can emerge to be beautiful, with strong wings.
The continuous effort from the butterfly to come out of its cocoon would let the fluid stored in the body be converted into wings. Thus, the body would become lighter and smaller, and the wings would be beautiful and large.”
Life as we know it is in the end will be worth it. There will always be this happily ever after as long as we don’t give up on working no matter how hard things seem to be. But let us never forget that there is always a right time for everything and that is a key for good things to be. If we force something that isn’t ready, we have denied ourselves of its true beauty.
#40DayMiracle Day 27: There is always a way out.
“Fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable”
Ignoring a temptation is far more effective than fighting it. Once your mind is on something else. the temptation loses its power. So when temptation calls you on the phone, don’t argue with it, just hang up!
