The Unrequited Love Song of Darko Ivanic
This is a vignette from the story I'm writing...
"What is freedom, when I was born interned? My heart shackled for so long, I fell in love with my captor.Ā I fell in love with the cruelty of my mistress. Now you say I'm free, but I have never been outside the walls and now I am lost.Ā Like a bird meant to fly, you clipped my wings and now I carry on debilitated.Ā A lame man walking through the desert: you are the mirage of an oasis.Ā Every step closer i take reminds me of the ever-present distance between us.Ā It is said that it is better to have loved and lost, but I never got to lose. I never had a chance, I was never in the race.Ā You crippled me before it began.Ā Now all I have are my sordid daydreams as I walk lucidly through a living nightmare.Ā I will carry you with me eternally, and because of that I cannot die.Ā I am the dragon no one can slay."
