The moon was softly touching the water, rippling as it tried to catch up with the speed of the car. I had this feeling of wholeness. With one hand he was holding onto the steering wheel and the other placed kindly on my lap.
When people say they feel love, and only love, I guessed this is what it felt like. Whole and complete. Nothing in the world could hurt me, because I felt the essence of life.
The water that shone from the moon, was the same water that glistened in the sun that day when I saw a photo of her…and I collapsed. I broke, I shattered into a million pieces. The heat of the sun beating down on me, could not bring me happiness, but the water could at least bring me a little bit of peace.
It’s funny how memories change, and get replaced by stronger ones. I would much rather hold the memories that bring me joy than the ones that bring me sorrow. I no longer want to hold sadness inside of me. Anger too can be let go of, because, why wallow in something so toxic, that no longer exists in your presence when you can choose to swim in the moon light? - Leyla Ozkan
