Bloggity Blog 3: Good Luck
The nature of this life never felt completely comfortable to me. The changing environments, the mystery of future tense, the way I always seem to feel that I’m wandering.
A message I received as a youngster was that decisiveness is a virtue. There are parts of me that disagree with that now. Those parts echo in the hall of my mind that true discoveries can only be found in uncertain wandering, searching, longing, experience.
The young parts of me seek advice. They seek fortune cookie quotes to tell me how to live a good life. But the older, wiser person in my mind knows that the only way I can discover what is good and what is not, is to live. It’s to sort through the muck and the gold and determine what is right for me. Only through the reflection of my mistakes and my good luck can I plan for what is right for the future.
My mantra for today is this:
Let us hope our good luck outweighs our mistakes. But if they don’t, let us be thankful for the opportunity to stand on this planet and learn.
Thanks for the 800 followers. You guys are cool.
Spirituality begins with a reverence for the ordinary that can lead us to insights and experiences that are anything but ordinary
Sam Harris, Waking Up: Searching for Spirituality Without Religion (via eearth)
Reading this book right now and I highly recommend it to those searching for a place to put the spiritual parts of themselves, but don’t feel positive connections to religion.
