Bokuto Koutarou for you Jo ♡
“The number 4 is often worn by the ace. Well it still depends on the team though… I mean, there are plenty of teams where the number 4 is just worn by some regular joe. That said, for schools like nekoma and fukurodani, the number 4 has traditionally belonged to he ace.”
Bokuto appreciation post.
Because a certain little owl stole my heart.

Happy Valentines Day!!!~~
( @bokurowl )
It had been a VERY long day at school, and as always she was even MORE exhausted once practice was over for the day and everything was cleaned up. Of course, there was still surviving the walk home to look forward to though— not that she REALLY minded it. It gave her a little bit of extra time to think Q U I E T L Y to herself on some of the things she would have to do later— homework, chores, and most importantly would be what to cook for dinner. Humming contently to herself, she began to flip through the small list of recipes that she kept on her phone that her younger siblings liked best. Honestly, she probably should have been paying attention to her surroundings rather than her phone, but thankfully she was JUST about to sit herself down on a bench to take a small break.
Practice had ended way too soon today. Normally Bokuto stayed really long hours, but this evening another club apprently had a practice match, which lead the boy's volleyball team to have to end practice earlier than usual.Or at least, earlier than Bokuto liked it. Thinking about what he could do with the rest of the day, he made himself on his way home. His parents wouldn't come back for another few hours, so he would probably be alone. He could study, though. Be he also could not. Maybe he could go for a run or practice outside. Anything was better than sitting home alone! Luckily, a familiar person appeared in his field of view. Excited as always, he waved at the girl, but she didn't seem to see him. So, he just sprinted towards before she could escape him. „Miyazawa!“ Now he stood in front of the girl who had just sat down on a bench. „What are you doing? Are you busy?“ His loud voice was full of excitement and curiosity as he sat himself next to her without even asking if she minded.
Noya was - somehow - a bit pissed. Not because of anyone else … because of him. He wasn’t able to save his team from losing and so they already lost about 40 sets so far. Not the best result in his opinion. It was frustrating. Being the one who always cheered up his team, Noya had to fight all these feelings that started to rise inside his stomach. It was his responsibility to keep the ball in the air … But until now he only managed to save a few of their oponents spikes or even blocks. That was why Yuu decided to stay after everyone else already left for resting. He wanted to improve himself and also he needed some time alone to handle his frustration. A now well trusted voice caught him a bit off guard and Noya jerked around, as Bokuto appeared in the gym door. “Whoa, dude … don’t fuck with me …”, he laughed sheepishly. “I thought everyone was already gone”, he said, after he caught himself up again.
That small libero seemed to be surprised to see someone, obviously Bokuto had caught him in a moment of concentration. He didn’t feel sorry though. With a grin on his face he walked towards the guy who seemed even smaller up close. „What, has the rest of your team deserted you? That sucks,“ he said quite insensitive, but with a huge smile on his face.
„Mine too, though. I guess the two of us are the last one’s still standing! Can you believe that? And I had just started…,“ he complained, moving his arm as he would do a spike while he talked. He had way too much energy to go to sleep so soon, even though it was quite late. That small guy seemed to be lively as well. „What did you practice here all on your own? I wanted to do spikes but I got no one to toss to me. Might as well practice some serves, but practicing alone is so boring, don’t ya think?“
Actually, if Bokuto was concerned, anything was boring when you did it alone. He hated being alone.
The compliments and babbling went in one ear, out the other. Akaashi has stopped being flustered by Bokuto’s easy compliments long ago. Not that he didn’t believe them to be honest, no he was sure Bokuto was amazed by everything he commented as such. But there really was no need for feeling awarded for actually recognising someone was ill when they looked like shit and were obviously running a fever.
Carrying him upstaris though was a bit less comfortable than he imagined with the spiker clinging so much. Even sick the guy was still damn strong and very close to choking the setter. But he endured it and set him back on his feet in front of his room.
Then there was a very much unimpressed stare from the side, when Bokuto mentioned not having eaten anything. He could have collapsed on his way here… that idiot!
“I see.” Was all he answered to that.
In his head though he already planned to go down as soon as he got the big child stuffed away in bed, to make him some rice porridge or something other light. Whatever he could find that was possible not to ruin with his current cooking skills.
Opening the door, he lead Bokuto into his room and sat him down on the half made bed. “You stay there for a moment. Don’t get up!” And with that he grabbed his sports bottle and headed out again, though he returned quickly now carrying not only the bottle, but also a small bowl filled with cold water, a washrag and a towel.
After he put down the bowl and the towels, he pushed the bottle, freshly filled with cold water, into Bokuto’s hands. “Make sure you drink enough, but slowly. Then you can wash down that will make you feel better, I’ll put out the clothes for you and go back down to make some food. But you stay in bed when you’re done.”
Oh, shit! Bokuto feltthat unimpressed stare, though he was to scared to look at Akaashi.Well, he wasn't excatly scared of his underclassman, but he reallydidn't like to be looked at like that. Because now he knew he had annoyed Akaashi. That short answer his friend gave him really didn't help, so Bokuto started to stew about that. Hopefully Akaashi wasn't so annoyed that he would just put Bokuto into bed and then leaving him, not wanting to fix more of his failures.
On the other hand,Bokuto knew his Setter better than that. Were others fleed, Akaashi always stayed. He sure was the most reliable guy the big owl knew.
Finally thetwo high schoolers reached the bed (most thanks to Akaashi's effort)and Bokuto could sit down. He was exhausted, even though didn'treally do much. Before he knew Akaashi had gone and was almost asecond later back again, supplying the older of the two with water and towels. Akaashi sure thought of everything!
„Aye, sir!“
He blundered the words out without thinking about it, but it probably wasn't surprising. Akaashi had that tone in his voice and that look on his face that he would not tolerate any kind of opposition. For outsiders it was always hard to see who really was the Senpai out of the two of them. Though Bokuto didn't really mind.
„But you won't be away too long, will you? I'll feel lonely,“ he complained in his childish and whiney manner, not really wanting to be alone again, on the other hand being really hungry.
He finally started to drink something though, and only when he water reached his lips he noticed how thirsty he had been the whole time.
The demon cats’ tale
✖ ┅Kuroo had never been to a training camp, and there were horror stories about how intense it would be, but he found himself enjoying the competitive atmosphere. He was a bench warmer, sure, but it was easy to get swept into how it felt to play against powerhouse schools that were regulars at Nationals. It was intimidating and exhilarating all the same. His excitement to finally get some playing time in the upcoming match had him bouncing on the balls of his feet.
A voice caught his attention. Cheshire cat? Who was he calling a cheshire cat? He looked up, scowling slightly. Narrowing his eyes, they landed on a boy who was probably a first year like him, wearing a Fukurodani training shirt. That explained the lack of tact, but nevertheless, he hummed in affirmation that he was listening.
“Why are you calling me a cheshire cat? You’re the one that basically has owl horns. What are you doing, anyway? Isn’t your team over there?” He pointed to the group of Fukurodani members that were huddled in the corner of the gym. Their hoots of laughter could be heard like he was standing right next to them.
„Woah, I have? Thank you,“ Bokuto replied to the remark that he had owl horns. It might not have been a compliment, but the first year was always slow to notice such things. This, and he really liked owls. Owls were the coolest creatures on the planet! So how could looking like them not be a good thing? He smiled stupidly and even blushed a little bit, as if the other boy would just have called him ’pretty’.
„Yes, I know what my team looks like,“ he answered back at cheshire cat boy, with a face that basically said ‘I am not that stupid, you know’. „No no, I wanted to ask you something, because I heard… rumors,“ he then explained, almost whispering that last word. He did seem really uneasy, too.
„Those rumors about your Coach, Nekomata-sensei. Are they all, you know… true?“
He did not specify which kind of rumours he was talking about, yet looking at the black haired cat guy with widened eyes full of expectation.
“I’ve certainly heared the rumours.” Even though he wasn’t in the same year or house, Bokuto has had the rumours spread much further. Although Akaashi slightly questioned the possibility of owls and humans fornicating.
Although speaking in Japanese his own owl’s name probably did give it a slightly awkward tinge that went in a rather similar direction. And it looked like the Gryffindor just took it completely serious.
“Ah, no. Even though some people have told me I have some owlish features. But the only thing that I share with gramps, which is his name, is the sound of our family names. Akaashi Keiji, by the way and I do know who you are Bokuto-san.”
The fact though that the chaser only now seemed to even register that he never changed back to English for this conversation was quite amusing. A small smile appeared on Keiji’s face.
“Yes, I do. But I might be a little rusty and not all that fluent.”
Bokuto finally stood up from the stack he was sitting on the whole time, walking towards Akaashi with big steps, until he wasn’t even an arm’s lenght away from him. Then, he surveyed Akaashi with great interested. “You did? It seems my reputation precedes me!” he suddenly blurted out in excitement, always being thrilled when hearing people talked about him.
“That sure is strange name for an owl! But if you gramps is fine with that name... Heh, you know my name? I never knew I was that famous! I’m the best after all, eh? Hey hey hey!”
It was easy to flatter that big dork, and when he was flattered, he liked to yell his excitement. He had never been anyone to hold his feelings back. The thought that students he had never spoken to knew his name was a booster. Maybe he should start practicing his autograph?
“Nice to meet you though, Akaashi! And how come your Japanese is so rusty? What kind of a Japanese person are you? But I do kinda get it, when everyone speaks English at school you don’t really use it I guess. But at least the owls speak Japanese with me! Especially those one’s here, they’re also Japanese!”
Bokuto spoke with his voice filled in excitement. After he finished, he pointed at the group of owls next to the stack he was sitting on before - all owls from his families breed.
