Summary - Y/n went to stay with the her grandmother for the summer at Outer Banks, where she grows a bond with a special friend group, but in the process meets someone she shouldn’t have.

That summer would be memorable, to say the least.

I asked my parents If I could go stay in Outer Banks with my grandma for the summer, it took some convincing but they gave in. "I layed out some snacks on the porch hun, go get something to eat. " I skipped outside to got sit in one of the two rocking chairs, "Grams I was wondering if you wanted to go eat at the little restaurant I passed on the way here I think it was the wreck I saw it when I was in my cab." she came outside and sat across from me with two mugs in her hand which I'm assuming had tea inside. "Sure, I know the people who own it super sweet you might like their daughter she around your age."

“What do you plan on doing all summer dear? You don’t have to many friends here” me and gram were out for lunch at the Wreck “I’m not sure yet.. I’m sure I could make some though! Seems like there’s a lot of people my age here” just as I said that my grandmother called over a girl who looked just a few years younger than me. “Hun this is Kiara that girl I was talking about earlier, her parents own the wreck.” I looked up from my fries, she had long wavy brown hair with light brown highlights, she wore an orange tube top and jean shorts on with tons of bracelets. “Hi! The food here is super good” she gave me a smile

“Thanks! Since you’re new around here I figured you might want some friends, here is my number, you can come hang out with me and my friends you might like em’” she handed me a slip of paper with a combination of numbers on them.

Once I got home I finished unpacking and figured I go to a Home decor store. I wanted to make my room feel more cozy “Hey grams you don’t mind if I add a few things to my room right?” She was sitting in the living room reading a book and looked up at me “You do whatever you want, you know where it is?”

“Yup! I’ll be back in an hour tops” “no rush hun you can go and look around town just be back by dark.” I walked out to the side of the house where I saw my baby blue bike.

I was walking around the store in the pillow section, I wanted a beach looking one it had to be perfect. I went to check out after grabbing a few more things. “Hi just these please” I got a few candles, a cute pillow case, some fairy lights and a poster. As I was walking out of the store I bumped into a broad chest dropping my bag in the process. “Yo watch it” I just rolled my eyes and walked out ignoring the ignorant behaviour. I was about to peddle off when a guy jumped in front of my bike “Hey! Sorry I think you might’ve dropped this back there, wasn’t sure if it was yours.” It was a tall guy, he wore a burgundy shirt some brown cargos and a backwards baseball cap “oh shit! That’s my wallet, thank you so much” it must’ve been when I bumped into that guy. “Of course, also not to be weird but I’ve never seen you before, and I tend to remember people”

“Yeah I just come here for the summer, It’s Y/n by the way.” I smiled “I’m Pope, hope you have a nice summer here” he walked back off into the store “What a cutie” and I started riding back to the house.

“Hi! It’s Y/n I was wondering if you’d maybe wanna hang out? I’m bored and was just looking to get out, totally understand if you can’t” a soft chuckle was heard from the other line “Sure why not, wanna go to the beach it’s still pretty warm out” I looked at the time it was only 6 o”clock I’m sure grams wouldn’t mind “sounds good! I’m just going to eat dinner and I’ll be right over!”

I was riding over to the beach when I saw a big group of people throwing a football back and forth. I stopped and leaned my bike against a tree and went to look for Kiara, turns out she was apart of that intimidating group. “Hey Kiara’ didn’t think there would be more people!”

“Hey! Yeah sorry I didn’t give you a heads up, but let me introduce” we walked over to a guy with long-ish brown hair, he had a beachy shirt on and some long jean shorts. “This is John B” he gave me a toothy smile “Hi! I’m y/n” “Nice to meet you, goodluck with JJ in advance”

At first I questioned that by soon got to know what he meant.

“Woooooahhh who’s this Kie?

I turn around to make eye contact with a tall blonde with a joint in his hand. “Jayj this is Y/n don’t scare her right away please” I just give him a small wave.

“This is P-“ “Oh! Pope! Hey” He looked up from his towel “Hey Y/n! What’s up? didn’t think I’d see you again for awhile” Kiara looked confused “You guys know each other? How’d you meet?” I told her how we bumped into each other, before we decided to ditch the beach and go get ice cream.

“Can I get the Sherbert please!” They had so many flavours I think it took me 5 minutes to pick. “Sure thing, in a cup or cone?” “Cone please!” We were all sitting in the Ice cream parlour when a group of rowdy guys walked in, I want say 4 or 5 of them came in. When they were at the cash paying, I could see them over Kiara’s shoulder. One of them stood out, he was really tall possibly over 6 foot but I couldn’t tell sitting down, he had short brown hair and wore a Polo shirt that had sunglasses hang around the collar. He was cute and I was definitely staring, I wasn’t about to lie about it. He could feel my eyes on him and he turned around and looked at me but I was quick to look down, not wanting to maintain the eye contact.

Once we finished our ice cream we said are goodnights and went our separate ways. Peddling home was nice, it was that evening breeze and you could hear the crickets in the bushes. “Hey grams, sorry I know it’s dark” I say as I walk in the front door. She was reading a book at the kitchen table “it’s fine hun, it only just got dark not even 20 minutes ago.”

I told her about Kiara and her friends and how we got ice cream. I think she thought that I was going to be alone all summer so this seemed to make her happy.

For some reason when I was brushing my teeth I couldn’t stop picturing that guy. I don’t even know his name or anything about him. But sooner or later after I got into bed my eyes shut.

"Hey Neela, who's this red neck?" I laugh and Neela rolls her eyes. "This is Sean he just moved here try to be nice." "I think so my car finally ready, i'm so excited to show it off."

Neela and I are getting ready at my house. "Soooo going to make a move yet? I mean you guys eye fuck each other all the timeeee, you've had a crush on him for years." I laugh "He's turning thirty In like 3 years" "so what? I think you should make a move, It's likely he feels the same". It's true me and Han do flirt a lot but it never went anywhere, plus he is way older than me. "yeah yeah, just keep getting ready missy"..

We pull into the the race centre In my newly improved Nissan Skyline GT-R, of course it isn't just a boring plain car It's pink and white with a glossy finish don't even get me started on the interior. "this car Is so hot, I love it" I smile, proud of what I did "I know right! it's so perfect". I park In a spot near Twinkie's Hulk themed car, makes me grin every time I see it. Neela's already talking to Sean as I'm speaking with Twinkie "I see you're already best friends with red neck huh?" "yeah, seems chill, thought maybe he'd like to come with me tonight. He's seems really into cars." I look over my shoulder at Neela and Sean "You know DK's going to get mad right? Just look, already glaring at him." twinkie looks over, DK already on the move, eyes widen he's quick to rush over. I'm quick to follow behind him "Hey hey hey DK how's going I see you met Sean" I look over at Neela who looks a bit worried. Neela and DK have been dating? for awhile, I mean I don't know if I'd call it dating but best friends with benefits? DK has always been possessive over Neela but sometimes it's a bit much. "Who's this gaijin?!" Neela steps In front but Twinkie is quick to speak up "DK he's here with us, we don't want any problems just here to race. "really? can he drift." I swallow, Sean is probably so confused. "I can race, wanna race?" Twinkie and I look at each other wondering if we just heard the same thing. Now don't get me wrong DK doesn't scare me just I know damn well he's an amazing racer and going up against him Is kind of dumb, especially If you're Sean and have never seen DK race before. DK chuckles "alright gaijin sure, but uh whatcha gonna race with? that?" he looks over at the Hulk car. "He can use mine, see what the kid's got."

I recognize that voice so fast I don't even need to turn around to see who it is. "Really Han? gonna let this kid race with your car? .. alright I won't stop you, I can add it to my collection." he smirks he knows he'll win.

Me and Neela are listening to Twinkie lecture Sean about his stupid decision "Do you even know what DK stands for?" Twinkie crosses his arms waiting for a reply. "No? Donkey Kong?" I laugh and shake my head "It means DRIFT KING Sean, basically Twinkie's telling you that you're going to get you're ass kicked." I smile and watch Sean's face "Maybe I'll win? you never know" "the chances of you winning red neck are slim to none, than you'll have to pay back Han". I lean back against my car, "What about me?" I turn to see Han shoving his mouth full with chips. I smile seeing him shoveling food in his face he's always eating "just explaining what's going to happen after he loses" "hey have some faith in him, maybe he'll win".

"keyword Han. MAYBE, I just feel bad for you sucks you're gonna lose another car." He just laughs and looks at Sean "just try, you'll still owe me though."

"alright let's go! chop chop!!" Han hands his keys over to Sean to his 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. "Han man this car is too nice for this."

Han shrugs "Y/n lets go up a level" Neela tugs at my arm "alright good luck Sean, see you at the finish line.. if you ever make it..." I giggle walking towards the elevator. "wait up!" twinkie and Han jogging towards us.

The elevator Is filled with the talking of Neela and Twinkie, the two of them stand close to the door while me and Han are In the back. I watch as Han leans down, "Hey y/n how have you been? it's been a minute since we last talk, missed you" he whispers it so Nel and Twinkie can't hear. "Just been working on Kai, finished her a couple days ago. I'll show you after if we go back to the garage." He's teasing me..I know he is, and I'm enjoying every second of it. "Sure, forgot you name them. I know you've been working on her for awhile, congrats." I smile and the doors open, we step out into the crowd of people. Music's blasting and people are shoving their tongues down each others throat, dancing/gridding. "Do you guys really think he'll win this" i ask looking at Neela and Han "probably not but why not give it a shot"

"Okay!! Let's get this started!!!" a girl steps up between the two cars who keep revving their engines while glaring at one another. "READY?" she looks at the two cars "SET.." the room goes silent for maybe 3 seconds. "GOO!!" and off! both cars race off around the building, twists and turns and all you can hear is screeching noise of the tires. There're quick to go up another level and people rush to get up there. "Come on!" Neela grabs my hand as we run.. or at least try to In our heels.

Once we reach upstairs everyone waits patiently to see who will reach the finish line first. And whoosh! DK stops perfectly, I sigh but already knew what the outcome would be. a minute later Sean screeches In and stops. People are cheering and surrounding DK as I walk towards the scratched up, dented car. Han, Twinkie and Neela are already talking to Sean "You own me a car red." Twinkie's laughing and Neela's talking with Sean. "So that didn't really go to plan huh?"

"Yeah guess not, but I'll just practice till I know for sure I can beat him" I just chuckle at his remark "Han, maybe you can teach him how to drift, a couple of lessons wouldn't hurt." Han turns to me and smirks "maybe you should baby" I glance at him, cheeks reddening at the nickname "why because I drift better than you?" I raise an eyebrow at him with a cocky grin on my face. "whatever you say"

"I wish you'd just race me already! I've been waiting so long" I groan, he smiles "maybe later" he shrugs "you always say thattt!" walking to his car "meet me at the garage, think there's a party going on." I turn back to Sean Twinkie and Neela.

"you guys up for it?"

Y/N’s POV

‘After I got home last night I couldn’t sleep, partially because of what happened with DK and Morimoto but mainly about Han. 

For some reason I feel mad at Han, although he did nothing really wrong it feels as though he’s completely avoiding me. Avoiding my feelings towards him. It’s almost like he knows I’m interested in him and he’s just completely ignoring it or he just doesn’t feel the same.

But he always flirts with me and-

“Y/N! Let’s goooo, I need to get out of this place before I start going insane.” Neela shook my shoulders and began packing her school bag up.

Thank god this day is over, 10 more minutes and I would’ve flipped out.

“Wanna go anywhere today?? There’s a car meet in the underground parking lot at the mall, me and Sean might go but feel free to tagalong.”

I thought about it for a minute but I don’t know if I have the energy to get dressed up and I think my social battery’s already running out.

“Thanks for the offer, but I’ll have to pass I’m too tired and I think I have to study.”

I rub my eyes and look at the time.

Should I get up and go?

Next thing I know, I’m putting on tights, denim jeans, knee high boots and an off the shoulder T-shirt.

I start the Nissan and drive towards the mall where I can hear the music blasting and the loud cheering.

I ring Neela “Hey! Are you still at home or are you coming?” She says.

I jump out of the car and grab my purse as I make my way to the elevator of the parking lot.

I step in and click the button to level 2, as the doors are shutting someone’s arm sticks through.

“Hey Y/n, long time no see”

Morimoto stands with that same stupid grin smacked on his face. I already know he’s going to try and start problems.

“Don’t you know when to shut up? I really don’t want to speak to you, so just budge off”

I turn my head so I don’t have to look at his stupid face anymore. The elevator doors shut and me and Morimoto are stuck in an unbearable silence.

The elevator ding’s and I’m stepping out but Morimoto grabs my arm and yanks me back in.

“Let go Mori! I’m tired of you’re shit”

“Why Y/N? I thought you wanted a man in your life?”

I can’t believe he thinks I need or want him in my life.

Gross.

Next thing I know he tries to kiss my neck and my lips. I’m quick to push him off me and make a run for it.

“Y/N!”

I dash around a corner and into the crowd, hoping he’ll lose me. I see Neela’s car and spot her and Sean talking to each other.

“Hey guys”

I don’t feel like talking to them about Morimoto so I just catch my breath.

“Hey! Finally, I was starting to think you wouldn’t show up” Neela says.

“I decided why-not, I wanna see Sean over here crash another car, maybe he’ll get lucky” I say with a teasing tone and Sean just laughs and smiles.

“Well let’s go watch some races shall we? maybe win some money too!”

10:53 PM

“Hey Neela I think I’m going to head out, I’ll see you tomorrow!”

“Alright, I’ll drive out with you!”

Me and Neela go out separate ways and I stop at the mail to grab a package.

I’m unlocking the small locker, when I hear that same stupid engine pull up.

I turn around and surprise surprise it’s Mori. Again.

“Y/n, you really thought you could just run off and I wouldn’t find you? You’re not as bright as I thought you were”

I slam the locker shut and try my best to ignore him.

“C’mon Y/n, I know you still want me, you haven’t moved on yet”

Is he serious it’s been over a year.

I can hear his steps speed up behind me and stop as he slams my driver’s seat door shut.

“You need to learn when to back off Morimoto.”

I feel his hands roaming over my hips and I elbow him in the stomach.

I rush to start the car and next thing I know I’m speeding off to someone’s place. I probably shouldn’t go to.

The tires screech as I pull into the garage and climb out of the car.

Han’s got two girls on him, one on his left and the other on his right, but I can’t be bothered to give a shit.

I make eye contact with him and he nudges the girls off of him.

“Han can I stay here tonight?”

I make my way over to him and wrap my arms around him.

“What happened?”

“Nothing just wanted to see you.”

He pulls me upstairs and away from everyone else.

The drive was quiet, I’m not sure why but I was trying to avoid starting any conversation. “You gonna buy a new car soon? Since you finished the last one”

I let out a small laugh “I just finished Nissan Skyline GT-R, don’t get me wrong I liked working on it but that was a lot.” he just smiled and went back to looking at the road. Tonight was pretty quiet in the city, well quiet for Tokyo at least.

We pulled up to the convenience store Sean and Neela arriving a minute later.

“I think I’m just gonna get a Gatorade and some chips, what about you” Neela and I were just walking up and down some aisles while Sean and Han waited outside. “I’m not sure, kind of craving a slushy right now, or a Redbull I need to study tonight and I definitely don’t have the energy for it” we were walking to the cash register when DK and Morimoto stopped stopped in front of us.

“Y/n! my favourite slut. Who are you screwing now?” Me and Morimoto hooked up here and there for a few months but after I cut things off he got upset and now I guess I’m a slut for it. “Oh shut up Morimoto you’re just mad she stopped seeing you, get over it” it never really felt good being called a slut by the guy you used to be friends with never mind fuck. “Neela where’ve you been? You were supposed to come over tonight.”well shit, they probably saw Sean out front but I’m hoping they didn’t.

Great “oh? Han? that’s new don’t you think he’s a bit old for you? Or is that just the daddy issues.” I haven’t intended to tell Morimoto about my family problems but a couple of times I had went over upset about it and told him some things I obviously shouldn’t have.”Fuck you Mori” I shoved through them pulling Neela with me to the cash trying to check out as quick as possible. “Where you going huh? Why don’t you come over” I just wanted to leave.

we were speed walking down the street to where Han and Sean were parked, Morimoto and DK following close behind “Fuck off Mori! go home!” I could see Han’s back.

“Oh come on! Don’t you wanna come home with me” I could just hear the grin on Morimoto face. Han must’ve heard the shouting because he was quick to turn around Sean closely behind and heading straight for Morimoto.

“What happened!? Are you alright?!” Why couldn’t they just leave us alone, we wanted nothing to do with them. “They’re just being assholes! Won’t leave us alone.”

“Alright just go in the car, we’ll talk to them” even though Neela came with Sean, I pulled her into the backseat of Han’s car and patiently waited for him to tell us they were gone.

HAN’s POV

“Fuck off Morimoto, nobody wants any problems so why start them.”

“Just curious.. are you fuckin’ er? Just so you know she’s slept with all of Tokyo, have fun with your sloppy seconds.”

god what a fucking prick. “Just leave Morimoto go home, and not that it’s any of your business but I’m not sleeping with her. Now go home”

I turn around and walk to the car, I mean who does the is asshole think he is.

“Hey you guys alright? Sorry you had to deal with those two.” Y/n and Neela were sitting in the backseat obviously scared “Yeah we’re fine, he’s just such a dick we were just buying snacks when they randomly showed up and started following us around.” I felt bad, Y/n didn’t deserve this bullshit Morimoto was just a dick.

Y/N’s POV

Han was driving me home, I’m sure he could tell I was tired and upset “Sorry about tonight, don’t let the shit Morimoto says get to you”

“Yeah for sure” I know it’s not Han’s fault but I’m just so angry and frustrated right now I can’t even think. Luckily we stop in front of my house and I’m quick to get out “Thanks for the ride Han, see you later”

I was riding over to the beach when I saw a big group of people throwing a football back and forth. I stopped and leaned my bike against a tree and went to look for Kiara, turns out she was apart of that intimidating group. “Hey Kiara’ didn’t think there would be more people!”

One of them stood out, he was really tall possibly over 6 foot but I couldn’t tell sitting down, he had short brown hair and wore a Polo shirt that had sunglasses hang around the collar. He was cute and I was definitely staring, I wasn’t about to lie about it. Once we finished our ice cream we said are goodnights and went our separate ways. "Y/n I want you to meet Sean, he just moved here and I was hoping you'd teach him a thing or to."

Twinkie had wanted to introduce me to the so called “Drift Queen”, said she was one of the best that I had to get her to teach me. “What’s up country boy? Ready to start driving” now y/n she sure was something, she wore her hair up and wore a short skirt with a white tank top. “I’m ready” I gave her a small smile as I followed to what I’m assuming is her car.

It was a Subaru BRZ with a matt grey wrap, leaning against the hood was a guy who seemed to be munching on.. a bag of Koikeya chips? He had long greasy dark brown hair and dressed like a homeless man.

“Sean meet Han, he’s the one that taught me” she had sling her arm around him and he smiled a put out his hand for me to shake. “This yours y/n?,it’s beautiful” she nodded and walked around getting in the driver’s seat turning on the engine. Han walked around to her window and whispered something on her ear and she just chuckled and rolled up her window. “You comin’ country?”

"that was sick y/n, I’m happy you showed me, I'm glad Twinkie's got connections." Me and y/n were sitting in her car talking about anything car related really "I'm glad I got to show you, not everyday we get newbies" we talk for a bit longer but suddenly a bright orange Mazda RX-7 pulls up beside her window. Once the driver rolls down the window you see Han with a grumpy look on his face. Y/n starts laughing at Han "what's with the sad face handsome? "C'mon get in, let Sean drive I'm sure he wants to"

"alrightyyy, Sean follow Han and don't crash." she hoped out and sat on Han's lap giving his a kiss on the cheek. Han's quick to speed up and I attempt to keep up.

As we slow down Han pulls up to a garage, people were dancing and music was blasting. Once I got out Han and Y/n were waiting for me “not bad country boy” I smiled and we walked deeper into the garage, passing tons of people who were all grinding on each other and jumping to the beat of the music.

Han later disappeared and Y/n was dancing with who I’m assuming are her friends. She did that motion with her finger to come over, we were dancing together. That ended quickly when Han dragged her away and up the stairs.

POV - Y/N

“Why were you dancing all over him like that?” Han was angry that was for sure but I wasn’t sure why. We were never official and he never cared about those kinds of things. “Why do you care? it was just dancing, we were just having fun.”

The second we got to the party Neela left me to go show Sean around so I just hung out with a group of girls that i'm gonna be honest I have no idea who they are.

The annoying sounds of my alarm clock going off waking me up almost instantly and I can already feel my head pounding. Last night I ended up going to one of Han's infamous parties and let's just say it was fun. "Morning Cassidy, how'd you sleep?" Cassidy was my aunt, one of the main reasons I came to Japan after mom threw me out. "it was fine, woke up a couple of times but nothing to bad. How's Neela? you girls have fun? being careful I hope". I grab a box of cereal and a bowl "It was fun I mean just regular car stuff.. Neela likes my car so that's good" I laugh thinking about how Neela kept asking me to let her drive it. "I'm glad, just make sure you guys are being careful and staying out of trouble" I give her a nod walking towards the small couch. I haven't really told her anything about Han I don't think she'll like it, which means I probably shouldn't be getting involved with him but can you blame me? his shoulder length jet black hair, his little smile and I mean have you seen the 1997 Mazda RX-7 it's almost to nice. "alright let's go! chop chop!!" Han hands his keys over to Sean to his 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. "Han man this car is too nice for this."

Han shrugs "Y/n lets go up a level" Neela tugs at my arm "alright good luck Sean, see you at the finish line.. if you ever make it..." I giggle walking towards the elevator. "wait up!" twinkie and Han jogging towards us.

The elevator Is filled with the talking of Neela and Twinkie, the two of them stand close to the door while me and Han are In the back. I watch as Han leans down, "Hey y/n how have you been? it's been a minute since we last talk, missed you" he whispers it so Nel and Twinkie can't hear. "Just been working on Kai, finished her a couple days ago. I'll show you after if we go back to the garage." He's teasing me..I know he is, and I'm enjoying every second of it. "Sure, forgot you name them. I know you've been working on her for awhile, congrats." I smile and the doors open, we step out into the crowd of people. Music's blasting and people are shoving their tongues down each others throat, dancing/gridding. "Do you guys really think he'll win this" i ask looking at Neela and Han "probably not but why not give it a shot"

"Okay!! Let's get this started!!!" a girl steps up between the two cars who keep revving their engines while glaring at one another. "READY?" she looks at the two cars "SET.." the room goes silent for maybe 3 seconds. "GOO!!" and off! both cars race off around the building, twists and turns and all you can hear is screeching noise of the tires. There're quick to go up another level and people rush to get up there. "Come on!" Neela grabs my hand as we run.. or at least try to In our heels.

Once we reach upstairs everyone waits patiently to see who will reach the finish line first. And whoosh! DK stops perfectly, I sigh but already knew what the outcome would be. a minute later Sean screeches In and stops. People are cheering and surrounding DK as I walk towards the scratched up, dented car. Han, Twinkie and Neela are already talking to Sean "You own me a car red." Twinkie's laughing and Neela's talking with Sean. "So that didn't really go to plan huh?"

"Yeah guess not, but I'll just practice till I know for sure I can beat him" I just chuckle at his remark "Han, maybe you can teach him how to drift, a couple of lessons wouldn't hurt." Han turns to me and smirks "maybe you should baby" I glance at him, cheeks reddening at the nickname "why because I drift better than you?" I raise an eyebrow at him with a cocky grin on my face. "whatever you say"

"I wish you'd just race me already! I've been waiting so long" I groan, he smiles "maybe later" he shrugs "you always say thattt!" walking to his car "meet me at the garage, think there's a party going on." I turn back to Sean Twinkie and Neela.
