Happy Birthday Diahann Carroll!! (7/17/14)
On September 17, 1968 Diahann Carroll would change the face of television as nurse Julia. It was the first television series to depict an African-American woman in a non-stereotypical role. After the show ended in 1971, Caroll would go on to star in many other movies and TV series notably ‘Dynasty’ as Dominique Deveraux and Whitley Gilbert’s mother in ‘A Different World.’
