im gonna use this awesome post to vent, so to the OG please excuse me, it just helps with my point a ton.
This stupid fucking comparison between 1994 The Crow and 2024 The Crow is one of the reasons why internet mentality is parallel to folie a deux or mob mentality. There's been other Crow movies, nobody lost their shit, we went, we liked or disliked it but we did not lose our minds because The Crow is a COMIC BOOK not an original screenplay being rebooted. It's not a continuation, it's not imitation, it's a NEW screenplay based on a character that does not belong in any way to Brandon Lee or Alex Proyas. The only person that can say "this does not feel like it should" is James O'Barr and the other authors that took over the comics but even then, they accepted the rights to the movie being adapted therefore it is done.
"Oh but his tattoos he looks like jared leto/ridiculous/yadda" Nobody gives two fucks about the tattoos they are not relevant to the PLOT. They are part of a visual and if that's what makes or breaks a movie what the fuck are you even giving your opinion for? Clearly you don't understand the work and the art of making movies. "Oh but the hair" So fucking what? I've met rock/goth dudes that wear that hair. They've already said a billion times this The Crow is adapted to be relevant to TODAY'S age and not 1994 (brandon lee's) or 1978 (comic). You're gonna get caught up on hair then maybe go watch Marie Antoinette
To shit on Bill because "he will never be Brandon Lee" is also the fucking dumbest shit I've heard in a long time. OBVIOUSLY he won't be. Would YOU want to be constantly compared to someone that has done something you're doing now? Say, you are on tumblr "oh but her tumblr will NEVER be as good as X's tumblr" or you like painting "oh but her painting will never be as good as bob ross". Shut the fuck up with comparing people. ESPECIALLY artists as what makes a good artist is about being an individual that stands out because of craft not looks. Bill Skarsgård is arguably one of the best expressive actors right now. He can act with expressions, he communicates without needing voice. How is THAT not Eric Draven? Have you READ the comics?????
Finally, I am willing to bet my pinky finger half the people shitting on this movie don't remember/hasn't seen in ages the 1994 version. MY FUCKING PINKY FINGER, I know you mofos like to jump on trains to be "cool", "edgy", "much cooler than thy".
Last point: Imagine how sad you gotta be to actively DISLIKE a trailer and make comments on it to shit on it. That's really fucking depressing guys, and I have all sorts of mental issues here but that one boggles the mind.
To summarize: Y'all can suck on them titties because it is happening regardless of your BS, go read the comic and rewatch the movie and remember most of all how kind and genuinely nice BRANDON FUCKING LEE was that I KNOW he'd disapprove of this bullshit.
