During a quick scroll I thought it was some weird before and after. Like a muddy/dusty rooster to a washed rooster.

Now that I’ve taken a better look they are both so beautiful!

@boneforget slow afternoon at work so I finished bright steel, I was actually quite happy with the ending, I was a sucker for inoqques arc because I love non human intelligences becoming fond of humans, I enjoy how much plot involved all powerful wizards and two gods being shot by bandits with guns and the final point that the heroes didn't matter it was folk dancing that saved the world touched me.

It wasn't as good as traitor son but miles def writes to scratch my fantasy itch

I feel like his last books in a series get like too fast. His beginning books are always nicely paced and then it’s like let’s squish this plot.

I love! Inoqques! She is a great character.

I feel like it was super open ended too? Like maybe another book MIGHT come? Or he just didn’t wrap up everything. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think he makes his worlds pretty interesting and puts in all these cool features but I want them explored more instead of just being depth added. Like the gates and other worlds in Traitors Son! Cant get everything I want in a fantasy book tho.

@boneforget this is miles Cameron ls master and mage series, first book is called cold iron but I can't reccomend his other series starting wkth one called the red Knight enough, like it's so much more fun with a better cast than this

Do you share in GRRM's distaste for Jonathan Rhys Meyers in “The Tudors”?

I don’t think his acting was bad, but he wasn’t a good physical fit - which was very noticeable in scenes like the wrestling match at the Feast of the Cloth of Gold, where King Francois is clearly much larger, when a big part of the two men’s rivalry was that the two were equally matched.

I think Damien Lewis was a better physical match. Whether he gave a better performance is somewhat subjective; IMO he had a much better script from which to work.

I feel like they also dressed Damien Lewis better for the part?? Like emphasizing Henry’s size because Lewis is fairly slim. JRM was in a lot more form fitting clothes if I remember correctly so you could really see his slenderness.

Possibly the biggest project I’ve ever worked on! This is a massive map of World of Warcraft as of Cataclysm (with a couple extra details). The whole thing was drawn on the computer with a little help from filters, and a lot of hours of drawing. It’s engraved on leather, hand stitched together, and mounted on wood planks. 

I had to adjust the scale and relative position of the continents so I could make them large enough to see all the details and to avoid a huge empty ocean. This was a commission for a client, but I really want to make one with Pandaria included, I think that’d fill it out really nicely! 

This was a huge amount of working hours to complete. I’m working on a making-of video for it. I’m also starting up a Patreon to support future videos and other things I want to move on to doing! Search me up on Patreon as Nappinkraken if you want to support me.

I get scared when people from Iowa talk about corn like I have crocs and gators taking over my town but damn you make it sound like corn is going to murder my family for fun

this is true but i cant articulate how your perception of corn in particular changes when you start spending real time in a corn field. like ive talked about this before on here, but i had a job a few years back working in experimental corn fields as manual labor, and despite having been born and raised here I realized that, in iowa at least, much of the corn you encounter is over your head when fully grown, and it….kind of forms a weird liminal space very different from what it looks like on the surface.

like, we were regularly going out in 80 and 90 degree heat in full body protective gear, but when youre in there its actually cooler by a couple degrees because of the rainforest effect it has. almost nothing grows on the ground in a corn field because the corn blocks out all the light. you need to wear the protective gear that i mentioned because the leaves will cut you if you do not wear long pants, a long shirt, sunglasses/some kind of eye protection, and in our cases one of those hats with a protective net that goes over your face. we wore those backpacks with the watering tubes because we were traversing the fields on foot and once we went in we would not be coming out for 4-5 hours, moving through them all the time (those fields……are way bigger than they seem from the outside). 

and when it gets really windy, and the whole field is bending at once around you? holy shit. ive never experienced anything like it tbh. like the day im thinking of that summer, they were hurrying our group along with our measurements because a storm was coming, and the whole field was listing to the side in the wind, but like….it’s still above your head. and in terms of proximity, you cannot walk anywhere in a cornfield without touching corn, which sounds obvious, but it practice it creates this weird illusion of a static maze. it’s like you’re in a really dense forest that you can only comfortably walk through by following narrow trails laid out in a grid. when it’s all bending like that at once….it’s wild, like i was tripping over my feet because it was really fucking with like….. my brain knowing where to walk lmao. i couldn’t really see the ground in front of me. i couldn’t see the rows. like, maize in it’s essence is a giant grass, so it’s like when you see those meadows and there’s wind blowing them and it looks like an ocean? like that but giant and ur inside.

also i can 10000% confirm you can literally get lost in a corn field. it is that vast and uniform. and i don’t mean like, haha corn maze, i mean like you can get actually lost, and when you try to yell for help the corn eats up the sound. i have no idea what people did before radios.

Really sad because I grew up on a dairy farm and we grew corn on some fields. I remember running through the corn fields but I don’t have like a MEMORY of it. I doubt we grew them as tall in upstate New York as you did. I do have a clear memory of building forts out of fallow fields that these tall like wide flat grasses grew. We would tramp down large areas and like braid them overtop to make like rodent den mazes. But really we were a dairy farm lmao

i use ffxiv as a way to prevent myself from getting burnt out on warcraft. mythic raiding is a lot of grinding, so it’s a nice escape for me.
