Okay, thinking about the "Tsuki and Tetsuo are picked up in Wave" au again, mostly just some potential character interactions that will not leave my head

First off- Kakashi. Holy shit Kakashi. Last surviving member of your clan, and then suddenly you've accidentally freed two members you didn't even know existed on what was an A-Rank hell of a C-rank mission, that alone would be enough for a shock. Imagining later he learns that Tetsuo specifically was supposed to be the one to take care of Sakumo, but he (pretty much, from Kakashi's pov possibly) abandoned that and got trapped in Spiral Demon Purgatory™️for fucking decades with his toxic yaoi situationship? I think he'd be torn between punching him for abandoning his dad and respecting that he refused to abandon Tsuki (assuming he doesn't, yknow, punch Tetsuo the instant he learns that)

And on the flipside TETSUO. Holy shit Tetsuo. You leave on a mission with one of your last surviving clansmen to the place you lost him the first time. You get trapped in Spiral Demon Purgatory™️. You come out, and see the spitting image of Haruka. Surely, this is Sakumo, right? You already know time behaves strangely There, so you know you've been gone longer than you know. But no. That's not Sakumo. That's Sakumo's son. You've been gone so long that Sakumo had a son. That son is grown up. And at some point, you probably learn that Sakumo killed himself. You're torn. On one hand, you were able to save Tsuki in the end, but on the other... what if you'd actually been there for Sakumo, like you'd promised? Would you have been able to change anything? His son looks like he wants to punch you, and you can't blame him.

Also, Naruto and Tsuki.

As established, Tsuki is delighted by the jinchūriki, in a very "Can't wait for this to blow up! Actually, I can! Let me grab popcorn!!!" kind of way. Hell, with his connection to The Spiral, being an amalgam of that and who he was before, he can probably sense in some way what the sealing of the Bijuu has done to all the yokai (whether they're gone or just in hiding because what the fuck you horrific humans) and throwing nature out of wack, just like he told Mito. And here's Naruto, the third jinchūriki of the Kyuubi. he's probably poking at this 12-year old "ticking time bomb" and back to harassing Kurama

(Tsuki: Wow! You're still stuck inside a human? Loooseeerr~~~~~~!) (Kurama: FUCK OFF!!! GO BACK TO YOUR OCEAN ASSHOLE!!!)

And from Naruto's perspective, this is pre-chuunin exams which means that Tsuki is the first person remotely like him that he's ever met. And Tsuki is completely... unbothered by it all. Unbothered by him. By the fox inside him. Is probably very weirded out when Tsuki crouches to his stomach and starts talking at the fox, but it also might spark the idea of, "wait, is the fox someone I can talk to?" Who knows? Regardless, I can't decide if I think he'd be very put off by how unbothered Tsuki is by it all (especially since he's in a similar situation, ish) or want to also be unbothered by being the container for a demon, because it doesn't seem to be giving him any problems (I mean, I'm sure it does give Tsuki some problems, mainly that he's crazy and is always hearing that call of the ocean, but like. Naruto's 12)

I don't really have that many ideas for the others, unfortunately. Idk, maybe Sakura can like, look between Tsuki and Tetsuo thinking "Toxic Yaoi🏳️‍🌈?" Maybe in a "Shikamaru Yaoi Author" crossover she can go "Sensei's family was filled with Toxic Yaoi🏳️‍🌈?" Idk I was trying to keep this serious

SHFBSID sorry, sometimes when i get too excited about things it becomes harder to read bc i keep trying to speed read it and the words blur together a bit. So I tried to set my phone down to give myself time to calm down but I kept GETTING excited about it and then it kind of got buried by like 60 other asks and also stuff blew up in my life again so I kinda forgor 😔

Ok so like, right off the bat: love this. Love this so much. Also it amuses me immensely that you sent this before I fr posted ab my own thoughts of them escaping the spiral but you were dead on the mark ab a lot of little things

The Kakashi and Tetsuo dynamic has the potential to go so hard,,, there's so many layers to it in so many ways and I'm a little bit obsessed with it. Idk what to even put here bc ur so dead on about their dynamic— it's so messy on so many levels, and at its heart you have these two men with insane, custom built guilt complexes and a near suicidal loyalty to some person or ideal. And also we are directly aiming the guilt complexes at each other and pulling the trigger.

I imagine that Kakashi can see that in Tetsuo— the blind, all consuming loyalty, something he can respect as a Konoha shinobi. And that acknowledgement must make everything just so much messier when it comes to Sakumo and what might have been if Tetsuo had only stayed,,,

I am picturing them both individually having this whole thought process of "what if" as they imagine how life might have gone if Tetsuo had stayed. He'd have raised Sakumo in Haruka's stead, of course, probably have kept the Hatake clan's seat at the clan head table, and if he'd survived long enough he'd certainly have had a hand in raising Kakashi himself as some form of grandfatherly figure. I'd love to see them share some sort of discussion about that world,,,

(And side note, that could make a very fun au too,,,, Tsuki and Tetsuo raise Sakumo and/or Kakashi when?)

LOVE the conflict of Kakashi not knowing whether he should punch this guy for abandoning his father or not. But also rip Tetsuo he would have come back if he could but he couldn't give up Tsuki </3 He couldn't fail him again </3

I am definitely picturing some crazy projection on Kakashi's end as he unknowingly equates Tetsuo leaving his father behind to try and save Tsuki with Sakumo leaving Kakashi behind via suicide. This is going to rip open SO many old scars and hang ups that Kakashi thought he got through, Im sure.

I think I'd love to see Tetsuo witness Kakashi in battle and just. Him being so proud of him. He's going to tell Kakashi— totally stone faced and serious voiced, as he tends to be —how spectacular his fighting was and how his grandmother would weep with joy to know her grandson could inflict such terror on a battlefield.

Kakashi, meanwhile, begins to feel increasingly awkward at this straight faced, very serious, very genuine praise. I don't think he takes genuine praise well in general (particularly when it's for smthn he thinks is underserved/normal levels of skill) and I imagine he'd accept it with even less grace than usual from his long dead ancestors telling him he makes his (very dead) clan proud

TSUKI AND KURAMA INTERACTION IS SO REAL PLS IM GIGGLING SO HARD RN, YOU REALLY PUT IT PERFECTLY

Tsuki is both delighted and horrified to learn that the fox is still trapped— and in a kid no less???? Amazing. Incredible. It makes him a little sick to think about tbh (he did NOT think they'd get this far before Kurama escaped) but he's too busy laughing about it to really make note of it.

I'm ngl you make me wanna think more ab Tsuki and Kurama— what a strange dynamic. They're different kind of yokai, and biiju rank above the type of yokai the spiral is, though that's not even considering what the fuck Tsuki counts as. Some strange in-between, I think? At this point too, after escaping the spiral twice and taking the rest of the spiral with him the second time, he's definitely more yokai than human. He might be another new, strange thing tbh, but no one ask me what

I wonder if Tsuki knows Kurama's name. I don't think he would— while the Spiral might have had the chance to know it in the past, it was never the type of yokai to use proper thought and language, so it would have no reason to have that knowledge even if it was directly given it (which I doubt it ever was) Once Kurama was sealed in Mito, he definitely interacted with Tsuki, but I both doubt Kurama would offer his name and dont think Tsuki would care enough to ask it. I imagine they address each other as just "Fox" and "Spiral"

Idk but I'm intrigued by the very strange yokai solidarity thing where neither really does anything to help each other out but sometimes they give each other the "you seeing this shit?" side eye. I'd be interested in exploring whatever the hell is happening over there someday tbh; And the world at large should be grateful Tsuki continues to be leashed by Tetsuo, or else he might actually try and free Kurama purely just because (but quietly maybe out of some strange yokai solidarity/righting the balance in the world, or Hatake hatred for chains)

Tbh, if it were only Tsuki here and not Tetsuo, I can see Tsuki trying to free Kurama as a sort of "fuck you I do what I want and don't got anything left going for me 👍" Especially if Tsuki's alone bc his clans all legit dead— He is for sure the type to go off the deep end and swing between doing wild shit just to make himself feel something (like kidnapping Naruto and freeing the demon fox "just because") and like. Staring at a wall for 48 hours while he slowly atrophies.

Depressed Tsuki would NOT a very stable or sane man. Someone get this guy some extra strength mood stabilizer please

Sorry, getting off topic, anyways:

NARUTO AND TSUKI !!! I really like thinking about them— there's some seriously fascinating potential there on quite a few levels. The most obvious being, ofc, their statuses as something not quite human due to the demon inside them (even if both their demons and the methods of their containment/enmeshment are wildly different)

I really like the idea of Naruto just assuming Tsuki is like him, a proper jinchuriki, seal and all, and Tsuki just. Not really caring enough to correct him— or only correcting him later down the line when he realizes the mistake. I don't think the finer details would matter to Naruto, all he really hears is "woah, he's like me" and that's all he needs to know

The fact that Tsuki is this charming, friendly, grown man who is clearly incredibly comfortable both with himself and with Naruto's status (AND with Kurama himself!!) Who appears in some cool battle with his equally mysterious clanmate— and they're also both Kakashi's long lost relatives who love him soooo much and they're super sorry they weren't here for him and they promise not to leave now—

Yeah, I imagine that all just makes it so much easier for Naruto to imprint on Tsuki. Even discounting the last bit, like. Cool adult who clearly knows what's happening, who has the same 'affliction' as Naruto and is not only cool about it but lowkey cool and powerful because of it— yeah that's gonna be a critical hit, let's be honest.

Plus Tsuki would probably lock onto Naruto pretty fucking fast and Naruto, to me at least, seems like the kind of kid who'd go insane at being someones (especially an adult figure) special little guy and clear favorite. Especially since we're only at Wave arc, so I think his only experience is maybe Iruka but only very recently. He is still PRIMED to imprint on the wrong adult lmao

(idk if Tsuki is the wrong adult but he's certainly. A choice.)

Anywho, if you want to play this straight and dive into some interesting conversations; Depending on your own interpretations of Naruto and how he views gender (yes I'm talking about the sexy no jutsu, of which I have Opinions) you could get a frankly fascinating little arc where he learns gender fluid people (read: Tsuki), like, exist.

In general I think Naruto and Tsuki could hold an interesting conversation about gender, and Tsuki could totally encourage smthn in him about it— especially when Naruto no doubt would look at him as that signature 'cool trusted adult and friend' figure

Tsuki in general I think would encourage Naruto to cause problems on purpose and be a general menace. Which is not at all what he needs, but I do undoubtedly think Naruto would also go insane (in a good way) to be encouraged in these departments. Tetsuo will apologize and do his best to help reverse the effect Tsuki might have on Naruto but I fear he might already be too late, rip !!

Tsuki also ofc has the motivation to be interested in Naruto bc Uzumaki! I think in general, both Tsuki, the individual), and the spiral itself feel a very complex web of emotion and vague duty towards the Uzumaki. The spiral especially, considered the Uzumaki its own in some abstract way, and that does impact Tsuki's own views of them. So in this new era, where they're mostly all gone, I can definitely see Tsuki going out of his way to help an Uzumaki out of a very strange sense of duty that even he himself doesn't know the origin of.

Also SAKURA AND SASUKE !!! they are having a time, I'm sure. Sakura is absoloutley DELIGHTING in all the drama happening around her— this is better than any novel she could think of!!! The drama!! The passion!! The tragedy!!

Sakura is nodding very seriously, doing her best to look solemn as she learns the Truth(tm) about Tetsuo leaving Sakumo behind and Kakashi's past and The Spiral and all of it— but meanwhile in her head she's squee-ing so loud and fangirling so hard because !!!! OMG SENSEI'S LONG LOST (HOMO?) ANCESTORS WHO WERE TRAPPED IN TIME (!!!!!!!!!?????) BUT SWOOPED IN TO RESCUE US AND NOW THEY'RE BEGGING FOR SENSEI'S FORGIVENESS AND THEYRE GONNA COME BACK TO KONOHA AND—!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile Sasuke is having. A time. The time, even. The Time Most Ever.

Long story short, Sasuke is projecting and projecting HARD. He is living so vicariously through Kakashi, quietly wishing that this would happen to him, and being mad when Kakashi doesn't immediatley accept them into his life. Long lost ancestors kept away from him by powers out of their control... Coming back with apologies and wishes that they'd been there... Promises that things can be better now... IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SASUKE!!!!!!!!!!

The good news for him is that I do very much think that Tetsuo would single him out to be fond of. Tetsuo has always had an affinity for hard to handle people— doubly so for children, and Sasuke is hitting SO many of his weak points for misfit children he wants to put his pocket

Sakura can continue to be Kakashi's special little guy, to even out the favorites. Tho I do also think Tsuki would be especially fond of her. Tsuki's gonna need new clothes after getting spat out by the spiral and YES this man would go straight to the 13 year old little girl to ask what she'd reccomend and YES he would willingly subject himself to letting her dress him up. He'd delight in it, even

(it'd also lowkey be good for him, I think. tsuki rn is not at his mental best and probably slightly high in both power and mind on finally becoming One with The Spiral. And also running on fumes from the whole 'playing tug of war with his body for a good few decades'. And also still reeling from his whole clan being dead. And also the Uzumaki being dead. And also the Senju being dead. And also the Uchiha being dead. And also the— You get the idea.)

Okay, at my computer today, I am ready to reblog with commentary. One, you don't need to apologize this is awesome!!!

And yeah, i remember when you posted more stuff about this I was like, "oh, I was right about that? Yes! I was right about that!"

And yes yes YES!!! Kakashi and Tetsuo are such a disaster together! And I wasn't even thinking about their mess of loyalty issues, but that is crazy! Like, both of them would no doubt do anything for those they care about (See: the situation Tetsuo just got out of with Tsuki, and Kakashi's "those who abandon their friends are worse than scum") but Kakashi's devotion is to the village first and foremost whereas Testuo... doesn't exactly have those warm and fuzzy feelings after most of his clan - the people he was devoted to - got all but wiped out

And oh ouch that "what if Tetsuo stayed" that has to be so painful like oh my god

(honestly i'd be lowkey terrified of a Tetsuki-raised Sakumo and/or Kakashi. Especially with the Tsuki side of the equation)

Kakashi and his complicated feelings about his family are about to get ten times worse!

Haruka would be proud of Kakashi, and he should know that <3

(On that note - I bet any Hatake would find Chidori fucking awesome (and I'm pretty sure Kakashi made that jutsu himself - I'd have to look it up tho))

Also, Tsuki being split between horror and delight but focusing mostly on the delight of "oh this is gonna be a shitshow~!" is such a him thing to do. What an asshole (affectionate)

And ooooh Kurama-Tsuki dynamic that's more than "asshole I like to piss off" and "asshole who keeps pissing me off" that could be so interesting. And Tsuki being something so contradictory of "human but more spiral than not but not quite yokai" is something that's so fucking crazy I love how "other" Tsuki is and how it's not quite something you can put a label on

Also yes yes yes strange yokai solidarity thing where they're just "damn, you see this shit?" (they should share the side-eye of all side-eyes when they see that Shukaku/the Ichibi has been sealed and with such a shitty/terrible seal too. Like, damn, now they're almost thankful for their respective situations, like, at least they're not that duo. poor bastards)

Also also that hypothethical "no Tetsuo, time to cut loose kidnap this kid and free Fox! Fuck all y'all!"

Naruto and Tsuki time, yayayay!!!

Yeah even if they're not entirely the same, I still think there'd be a level of solidarity between them for playing "host" so to speak, even after Naruto learns he was wrong. I agree that the finer details wouldn't matter.

And yeah! Tsuki is just so comfortable in his own skin and with what Naruto is, that I feel would be more than enough for Naruto to go "!!! Role Model!! 🤩" And in that respect I guess, it wouldn't be that bad. Naruto's gonna imprint big time (which gives me the idea of Naruto making himself look like a mini-tsuki, and giving Tetsuo (and anyone familiar with the asshole) a heart attack because oh sage there's two of them????)

Tsuki would be absolutely delighted though, that's his special little chaos foxling. (thinking about it now, Tsuki would absolutely get a kick out of vandalizing the hokage monuments, wouldn't he?)

Also yes yes yes I love genderfluid Naruto. I will never say no to a genderfluid Naruto interpretation

And I love that Tsuki would encourage him about it

Actually, I love that Tsuki encourages him in general, for better or for worse. I think they should play pranks together. Terrorize the village perhaps

And yes! Tsuki's strange connection to the Uzumaki through the spiral that's not quite positive but not all the way negative! And there are so few Uzumaki left (Naruto, Karin, and I think Nagato/Pein?) and none of them would know about the Uzumaki Grudge™️ against that Spiral Stealing Bastard™️. The collective Uzumaki clan in the afterlife boutta be rolling in their fucking graves lmao

Love how Sakura is doing her best to hid the inner fangirl as she's going crazy on the inside about this insane turn of events. take that Ino! She bets you don't have such a crazy interesting mission story. This is the best!

And Sasuke. oh Sasuke.... The mess of complexes that you are. How did I not see that he would live vicariously through Kakashi (hell, he's probably wondering about the likelihood of this happening to him, please please please sage above) Of course he thinks it should have been him. And he's going all "how dare Kakashi not appreciate this"

At least he's Tetsuo-nip, new older brother figure, acquired! (Or older brother/uncle/father amalgam acquired?) Tetsuo will be adopting him no ifs/ands/or buts about it

Also, I love the idea of tsuki subjecting himself to Sakura's whims fashion-wise, and having fun with it. I want to see what she'd come up with

And yeah, it's probably for the best he's distracted from how much has changed and the overall power high)

Tetsuo and Kakashi would be so fun fr, they have all the ingredients for a whole MESS of a dynamic and I think that's truly wonderful. So many layers to think about,,, and that's also mostly just focusing on Kakashi's relation to Sakumo and not even covering like. Kakashi's relation to Haruka, who is probably one of the single biggest influences in Tetsuo's life.

I need Kakashi to do something silly and vaguely shitty, as he tends to do, only for Tetsuo to go through every stage of grief imaginable bc it just makes him resemble Haruka even more. I also wanna see Tetsuo, the clans official Haruka wrangler, fighting tooth and nail to try and convince himself to say no to Kakashi on something— only to be faced with one of his little eye smiles and 'who me? I'd never' attitude and fold like a wet towel in record time

He can't say no to that face, not when it looks just like Haruka's. He is taking 10billion emotional damage every time he sees it. It's a favor to Tetsuo himself that Kakashi wears his mask bc if he could see his full face he'd be spitting up blood every time he's forced to think about the resemblance

Also the Hatake would ABSOLOUTLEY find chidori awesome, pass it on. A bit off topic but I think Hiro in particular would be crying out of jealousy because that's so cool and it's everything he's ever dreamed of in a jutsu (as he usually fights with his fists and in particular likes to wear special gloves that let him cut and punch through his enemies bodies, especially when channeling some basic electric chakra.) He wants to know chidori so, so bad he's gonna be fucking sick from it

Tsuki would actually LOVE to see the Hokage's monument vandalized.

He was always a fan of them but from the very specific angle of "holy shit that's so tacky and ugly" (said in pure delight) He's much more a fan of elaborate portraits or sculptures if you wanna be gaudy and overly obsessed with yourself than with hundreds of feet tall busts of a face. He does in fact believe that they're asking to be vandalized and would love to hear and see Naruto's many stories of doing exactly that👍

I wanna see,, him and Naruto doing mischief,, it'd be fun— for them, at least. Not so much for most others in their vicinity.

I'm ngl, u just have me thinking ab a totally separate 'Tsuki escapes the spiral alone and, after tucking Naruto under his arm, goes on a quest to separate the biiju from their containers simply because it sounds fun and it's quite literally the only thing he has left going for him' type au. That'd be fun, I think. It'd also be messy as FUCK and I'd love to think about spiral-biiju interactions,,

Sakura is so cute, she is truly living her best life in this one. Funny drama around every corner for her to giggle and be over invested in,, she's gonna brag about this to Ino so hard later, you're right

Idk what Sakura would even dress Tsuki in but I can not lie that I'm giggling over the idea of a dress over montage. Tsuki is so happy to be there but also legitimately has no clue what 70% of the outfits they're throwing at him even are, bc he's from like 60 fucking years ago. I think he'd have a lot of fun with it tbh, and Sakura even more so

Sasuke is also so cute in this but definitely not living his best life. But he's living a better life, I think. Tetsuo is 10/10 picking him up and putting him in his pocket. No one let Tetsuo know he lives alone in the still bloody ruins of his clan compound or else he will have Many Opinions On It(tm)

He's already going to have WAY too many opinions on the state of his own clan compound, someone better stop him before he finds out about Sasuke's.

Anyways YEEAHHHH I LOVE THIS SM AND IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE IT !!! truly the silliest and cringest of things but it brings me such joy,, I love these guys. I need u to stop making me think about this so much or I might have to write something for it, and that's illegal

When I realised that Tetsuo and Tsuki's fates actually left room for their return i was frothing at the mouth for these sorts of details, but now there's the additional idea of the pair of them raising Sakumo/Kakashi and holy shit!

Like, it's sweet to imagine them managing to avoid Tsuki growing yet again and just coming home and then being a helluva lot more careful bc they're all little Sakumo has left, and I think I remember something about a clan needing at least 3 members to count? Might be fanon bc I'm sure ive seen it more than once, but if that applied here (hence clans that still have one or two living members like Hatake and Uchiha still counting as extinction) so there'd be that number hanging over them, the first to die officially ending the Hatake as far as the village is concerned, until and unless some kids start getting born fast to make up the numbers.

But then just imagine a world where they DO get sucked into the Spiral for decades, but manage to win earlier and it's Team MINATO that they come to the aid of!

Sakumo's suicide might be pretty recent or a couple of years gone but either way Kakashi is still in the middle of violently rejecting anything to do with the only other Hatake he's ever met, and these ones apparently also abandoned a kid (he doesnt want to think about who specifically, stop saying the name of the man who he's only heard being spat by angry villagers for so long now) and one of them could have come home but chose not to?! Tetsuo would have to wrangle his and Tsuki's legal existence, the clan's seat at the table and possibly even rights to their own lands back while Tsuki is deeper into insanity than ever from going full Spiral, and Kakashi is so very angry and the age his dad was the last they saw him and oh god what do you mean Sakumo killed himself!

Bonus points if their particular type of loyalty is intrinsic to Hatake culture, it's a part of their right as a clan to maintain those beliefs about the right way to be loyal, and part of the reason they joined Konoha in the first place was the preaching about the Will of Fire fitting that culture so well that surely they were joining likeminded people, right? But even if everythings somewhat shaky in the early days its written in stone that that's their way of life that they're legally supposed to be allowed to live like how the Hyuuga don't have to turn the Caged Bord Seal off every time a branch family member leaves their specific land, it's a thing all of the time, and then they find out that following it was why Sakumo was driven to death? Why Kakashi still gets mistreated to the point he's desperately rejecting that very belief? I don't know if anything could stop there being severe consequences for that. Like Tsuki cursing a lot of people and Tetsuo maybe not stopping him bc nobody stepped in to stop any of the wrongs done to their family, did they? And who knows, maybe Danzo gets cursed with bad luck - what would be more unlucky than the already angry Hatakes stumbling across proof of ROOT almost literally being the Dog Pound 2.0 right down to the brainwashing methods?

Then there's also the rest of the team and where they fit into this - Obito has so much in common with Naruto, but not in the jinchuuriki way, so would he have a chance of interesting Tsuki at all with just personality and no demon? And Kushina would be in a very different position as Jinchuuriki than Naruto, especially if Tsuki starts shit talking the entire existence of them if she feels defensive on Mito's behalf - she was told one version of how to feel about this as a child by an authority figure and this is probably the first actually informed challenge to that view she's gotten since. Yet both she and Mito would fall under the banner of sort of being Tsuki's from being Uzumaki, complicating things.

Maybe Obito would be more drawn to Tetsuo bc he treats him like he does other kids ala Sasuke? Different kind of troubled but definitely still troubled, though on the other hand maybe both adult Hatakes are in a better position to notice Obito's predisposition to obsession and disagree on whether to make him better or worse?

Maybe Rin is the one fascinated with Tsuki and what the hell is wrong with him, leading to an interest in learning more about mental health as opposed to just healing bodies? That could even lead to a better understanding of what Sakumo went through, helping Kakashi process it as his dad "escaping pain that built up to the point he couldn't cope with living any more" instead of "escaping responsibility, including to his son".

How would Minato react to these strangers who want to be a part of Kakashi's life in a way that he hasn't let anyone, even Minato, and who he seems to have such viscerally upset reactions to? Would he help them get closer to that goal bc he wants the best for his student and thinks a family to go home to would be that, or would he listen more to Kakashi's own wants? Would he be wary of Tsuki's unstable nature and maybe even the way that Tetsuo put his partner(???) before the needs of a child depending on him once before already? Would some jealousy get mixed into that reasoning, maybe not right away but later as they do start getting closer in a way he now has to wonder if he'd ever have been able to get to Kakashi with more time to try?

My brain simply will not stop chewing on this new toy of an au, I havent even fully sorted what its spitting out about the possibilities for Kakashi's relatoonship with both of them and how it changes from that knee-jerk rejection! I'm having SO much fun!!

I think the rule of, "a clan must have at least three people to count in the eyes of the clan council" is fanon, but its also fanon I've definitely used before in my fics (shout out chapter 8 of one step forward three steps back) and also one I love <3 So <3 Banging my gavel on the desk and shouting APPROVED !!!

It's so fun to think about a world where they might have genuinely raised Kakashi-- and whatever circumstances could have lead up to it,, there's so many options!

Maybe they escaped from the depths of the ocean (and if so, were they on time to meet Sakumo?) Maybe they never got trapped (and what would that world look like? Where the Hatake's stayed on the clan council, and Sakumo was raised by at least some of his family. Where Kakashi grew up with them in his life) Maybe there's some strange circumstances involving the mysteries of Uzushio that kept them away for some time before they returned-- who knows!

Either way: In a world where they escape the spiral in time to meet team Minato, I think that Tetsuo would somehow crash out even harder than the AU where they escape to meet team 7 in wave-- knowing he was so close to seeing Sakumo again. He didn't miss him by decades, but instead only months <//3 And the only thing left of him is this angry, hurting child with Haruka's face and a horrible pain in his heart <///3

Tetsuo is NOT going to be normal about this, give him the child NOW !!!!!

Ok he'd go about it a lot more politely than that. And probably cautiously, tbh, this is a messy situation and he's so desperate to fix it somehow-- he knows better than to rush in and come on too strong (although it's bringing him physical pain not to do so)

He's for sure going to cry later. A lot. He might cry on Kakashi, but only the one time. It's very uncomfortable for everyone.

Tetsuo would also definitely like Obito-- Obito totally falls into the category of problem children, and thus Tetsuo automatically has some form of fondness for him.

I am pointing now at Uchiha Siam, who is THE early konoha loser in my heart (my beloved) who Tetsuo was also incredibly fond of (to the point of it pissing off both Tsuki and Hiro). Anyways I'm pointing at him to say that Tetsuo definitely is reminded of Siam when looking at Obito, which gives Obito even more bonus points. Maybe seeing him and Kakashi fight even gives him flashbacks of Hiro and Siam arguing, which then means he needs to take a few minutes to calm down before he punches a hole in the wall or throws up. He's working on it.

Kakashi meanwhile, as you so perfectly put, is VIOLENTLY rejecting anything to do with the Hatake, and is not giving either Tetsuo or Tsuki a warm welcome. It's not helping that Tetsuo, in his panic and grief, definitely risks smothering him if he isn't too mindful / gets ahead of himself. I'm picturing a messy first meeting before Tetsuo steps back and goes "ok I need to get a hold of myself" and returns to the table with a genuine tactic of getting Kakashi to like him

Meanwhile Tsuki has no tactics and is going to be staring at Kakashi like a freaky little freak boy.

He is nowhere near as emotional about this as Tetsuo is-- or at least, he doesn't seem to be on the surface. He is also, to be fair, coming off of the devastating emotional highs and lows that was his final few months of life before he basically attempted to feed himself back to the ocean. He doesn't fully want to be here, but Tetsuo dragged him out of the sea, so he is now and this will be everyone's problems as soon as he adjusts to his new reality.

He is a ticking time bomb that only Tetsuo has the full context for, or even awareness of the fact he is any sort of bomb ✨He was not in a good state before this, and he is not in a good state now, and honestly I love that for him. You go, mentally unstable queen !

Oughh,, Rin and Tsuki dynamic,, that has the potential to be very interesting, actually

I am clutching my "freaky little girl whos incredibly good at convincing others shes perfectly normal" Rin agenda to my chest rn as I say this btw. I wanna se Tsuki-Rin freak-to-freak understanding. They both have that 'Im soooo good at masking and charming people' rizz to them and I think Rin would enjoy curiously poking Tsuki with a very long stick-- especially since he's on the 'vaguely unstable in strange and interesting ways that are incredibly hard to pinpoint looking from the outside in' side

I want to see Rin deciding she's going to make Tsuki the subject of her medical homework. She is in the background scribbling an essay about his psyche while Tsuki peeks over her shoulder. He's solidly curious / amused till she manages to hit alarmingly close to home and then he's remind himself he shouldn't be cursing children (because Tetsuo will get upset) before he remembers he doesn't care.

Rin gets mildly spiral cursed for a week but thinks its worth it. She WILL do this again, you can not escape her psychoanalyzing skills Tsuki

I think Tsuki would like her-- she's chill, she's weird, she has something mildly wrong with her in that indistinct way some shinobi do.

Tsuki is also a big fan of the Kakashi-Obito-Rin love triangle, he is encouraging Rin to play with their feelings as Rin goes "That wouldn't be very nice :/"

Lame !! Live a little, Rin !! Use your cute girl powers for evil !!

I think in general, Tsuki is swinging wildly between being very much "I need to be left alone right now and if anyone talks to me I will ruin their week" and "yayyyy future stuff <333 these kids are sooooo cute <333 lets have fun and make friends <3333" and it's genuinely impossible to tell what his attitude will be that day. Best to keep your distance, really

Actually, funny thought: Team Minato as Tsuki minders.

Kakashi is 10000% safe from Tsuki wrath, because he is Sakumo's precious child and The Last Hatake(tm). Rin is somewhat safe because Tsuki thinks shes cute, and Obito is the same because Tsuki thinks hes funny (he's always liked people who are easy to bully or tease, and Obito is nothing if not that)

They're also generally safe from him because they're kids, and Tsuki will (usually) go easy on kids. Plus, Tetsuo likes them. So. Tsuki legally can't hurt them, hurt them.

But like. Rin, Obito and Kakashi being left alone with Tsuki as he suddenly descends into a Mood(tm) right on time for someone else (Danzo maybe? Sarutobi? Just some random guy unfortunate enough to earn Tsuki's wrath? Pick ur poison, really) to enter stage left. And now all three kids are holding on to Tsuki's sleeves having to bodily hold him back from doing something stupid

Idk, the mental image of all three of them hanging on to him, trying to hold him back makes me giggle a bit. Team 7 solidarity! Holding back this guy from killing anyone and ruining his own life!

Tsuki's dynamic with Kushina could be so interesting tho?? Hold on. I think that, as people, they could get along. But as the spiral and the host of the fox, they would not.

Kushina doesn't like Kurama, she refuses to interact with him unless she has to, and Tsuki showing up and treating Kurama like a person -- more than that, at times outright ignoring Kushina to talk directly to the demon in her stomach, would both endlessly throw her off and also enrage her.

Tsuki is initially way more interested in the fox in her stomach, and by the time he starts getting interested in Kushina, he's already made a terrible first impression. She does NOT like this guy, get him OUT OF HERE !!

Anyways Tsuki calling Kushina "little Uzumaki," send tweet. This does not help endear her to him.

Mito my beloved !! Your mentions of her got my brain turning tbh-- her and Tsuki's dynamic is very fun to me. Back in the day, they had a solid understanding-- Mito kept quiet about the spiral inside him, as mentioning it, especially at the height of the shinobi war (a war being waged over the capture and sealing of yokai similar to the spiral), would likely bring more trouble than was worth for the both of them, their village, and their clans. And in return for that silence, it was understood that when the Uzumaki came calling, Tsuki was to pick up the fucking phone. (Which eventually played into his ultimate return to Uzushio)

Anyways, Tsuki is chill with Mito and I wonder how that might affect his relationship with Kushina.

After that terrible first meeting, it'd be interesting to see them slowly go from dislike to, eventually, maybe something friendly-- like I said, I think that as people, they could get along terrifyingly well. A team of Tsuki and Kushina would truly be a scthing

It's just a matter of them having to learn to get along first, and Kushina needing to come to terms with the fox in her stomach and the fact that it has feelings too, you know?

Kurama is, by the way, having A Time right now. He is not happy to be here but he has to admit, this is the most interesting thing to happen to him in a while. At least his prison finally has some sort of half decent entertainment-- and someone (Tsuki) is finally fucking talking to him.

Kurama doesn't exactly like the spiral, but I imagine he'd be more open to Tsuki talking to him than he would anyone else. They'd spoke before, in early Konoha, maybe not frequently, but they did. And Kurama, loathe that he is to admit it, might be... a little... just a little... teeny tiny itty little bit,,, lonely.

Shhh, don't let anyone know, he's still in denial about it

Anyways, Kushina unwillingly humanizing Kurama as, through Tsuki interacting with him, she's forced to see the fox display actual emotions and humor-- and even carry a civil conversation, if you can believe it?

She is forced to wonder if everything she thought about him is wrong. It's a lot. She's not having a great time. (But Tsuki sure is!)

Minato my beloved !! Where does he fit into all of this?

I think it would be fun if, even if Minato might get along with Tetsuo, (don't ask me about Tsuki because I can honestly see it going either way, especially if Tsuki decides he wants to play with him) he can't help but be jealous of the claim they have over Kakashi

He's happy that Kakashi has this family! The kid needs it, he really does. But Minato had begun to think that they, he and Kushina, could be Kakashi's family. And try as hard as he might, Minato, like many powerful shinobi, can be a very territorial man.

(also I think the Minato and Kushina vs Tetsuo and Tsuki custody battle is funny. Kakashi does NOT, he fucking hates this, he doesnt want ANY of these people in his life.)

Anyways, the the solution for Minato's little problem is obviously just make Tetsuo and Tsuki people too :)

Don't ask me how he does that but like. Minato earning their loyalty somehow. I think if nothing else, he'd get respect from them as Kakashi's teacher. Tetsuo especially would be very grateful for his influence in Kakashi's life-- I can see them getting along very well, outside of the occasional clash over who is Kakashi's favorite (it's Minato lmao)

You actually bring up a great point in if Minato worries about the kids being around Tsuki, with how unstable he can be? I think it'd be so fun if that also played into that first bad impression,, both Kushina and Minato are left with a very strong "theres something WRONG with this guy." impression of him that leaves them weary of the influence he might be on the kids

Literally THE only saving grace he has in Minato's eyes is that he does, clearly, seem to actually care for Kakashi. But also. Could be interesting if Minato doubts that ,, then over time he learns that no, he does care, he's also just Like That (unfortunately)

idk but it'd just be very fun to start off this au w Tsuki making a terrible impression / generally being not. really great. Or sane. Or stable. And then over time, both Minato and Kushina (plus whoever else he left a terrible impression on before Tetsuo could do damage control) learn to slowly be chill with him

It's fun too because this really would be Tsuki at some of his worst. Plus he's also in an objectively terrible situation here.

Walk with me for a second:

So, towards the end of wolves of the woods, when everyone but Tsuki and Tetsuo are dead, the two of them are faced with a very serious problem: The current war is being fought over who gets to own the biiju-- and it's being fought because there now exists the technology to bind yokai.

And Tsuki, as you may know, is at this point more yokai than not. Meaning that if he got outed, he could be in serious danger. Something he's aware of, but depending on the situation, can't quite bring himself to care about? When the clan was wiped out specifically, Tetsuo had to restrain him so he didn't run off to take revenge on the enemy; Because doing so would mean he ends up chained to someone. Be it an enemy village or Konoha itself, he'd no longer be allowed the life he has.

Anyways, bringing this to the future, the idea still stands. Tsuki risks it all if he actually outs himself-- he's no biiju, sure, but a shiny, powerful yokai is a boon for any village if they can bind it. And Tsuki, unstable as he is and not as good as controlling himself as he once was,,,, forgets. Sometimes.

(Tetsuo is very, very scared for him)

So like. If Tsuki snaps. There will be consequences. Long lasting, long reaching ones. And they don't even know about ROOT yet.

Keeping him in check is for everyone's good, including his own <3
