The last time he spoke to his sister, Edgar promised that he would make more of an effort to make sure they hung out more. And he had meant to keep to that promise. But, time just seemed to keep getting away from him and though he meant to find her days ago he has only now gotten round to it. Finding her he quickly went over and sat down beside Amelia. “Hey.” He said in greeting, a smile on his face. “Did you go to that party the other night?” He had meant to check in on her and make sure nothing bad had happened. After hearing all the drama that went down from other people he didn’t want his sister to have to deal with any of that as well.
@bonesofjustice
Schoolwork was effort, but effort that she liked. Most of the time if people bothered her; the one exception was Edgar. It didn’t matter if she was in the middle of an essay for potions, she shoved the book away when she saw him coming her direction. “Hey,” she responded, smiling back. “Oh, no. I mean I did for a little bit, but... um, it wasn’t fun for me, so I left. What about you?” She didn’t really pay attention to gossip, so if something happened, she had to be told about it.
sxrius-blxck.
“Let’s just pretend I didn’t blow up my cauldron.” Sirius muttered as he wiped up the mess he had made. Usually he was pretty good at potions. But today seemed to be one of those days where nothing was going right.
@bonesofjustice
“How are you... nevermind.” Amelia wasn’t the best at potions, but at least she didn’t blow up cauldrons. “Maybe you should quit for the day then if you’re going to make a mess?” The Ravenclaw looked at the potion.
dorxcas.
‘‘No, you’re not.’‘ Dorcas chuckled, placing her feet up on the chair opposite her. ‘‘I don’t think I remember a time you ever got in trouble.’‘ She drummed her fingers on the table, a sly smile on her lips. ‘‘We should change that. Some excitement in your life wouldn’t hurt you.’‘ Dorcas listened to Amelia, interest piking within her. She hadn’t put much thought into graduating even if it was almost two years away. Doe was going to be an auror like her brother, and that was that. ‘’That’s a good idea, I never really thought of looking into internships and such.’’
“Misbehaving just isn’t in my nature. I’ve tried, but I’d just rather read my books than get stuck in detention.” Schoolwork was generally the most important thing for her to do. So rather than get into trouble, she made use of her time. “I can have excitement without getting into trouble. Just the other day, I hung out with my brother.” Maybe others didn’t think that was fun, but she did. “I don’t know how else to spend summers.”
fabxfabian.
“I can say for sure. You’re telling me Kenny and Lily, both Muggleborns, both wind up in the hospital wing before Halloween hits while idiots walk around pretty much openly declaring their allegiance to Lord Fuckface and there’s no connection? I dunno.” He didn’t care that he could get in trouble for accusing another student of… whatever it was he was actually accusing them of. He wasn’t quite sure of it yet himself. “D’you really think they’re gonna tell us anything, Amelia? ‘Cause I don’t.”
“But they’d get expelled for something like that and really if they didn’t want to be at school, they wouldn’t have come back this year.” Amelia didn’t want to accuse anyone without proof. Real evidence that the person had committed the crime. As much as they talked about what they felt, it didn’t mean they were bad people. In the end, they were only words and as powerful as words could be, in some cases their actions were louder. “Fighting back with violence isn’t the answer anyway. It’s just... is isn’t.” She wished people saw it like that. “I think they’ll tell us what’s necessary. We’re children.”
fabxfabian.
“Nah, they deserve more than dumb pranks.” Not all Slytherins were bad, blah blah, he knew that. But a lot of them did suck ass. He shook it off, deciding licorice snakes could wait for another day. Fabian nodded slowly, “I think one of those Dark Arts cronies hurt him. Like what happened to Evans. Probably the same asshole, actually.”
Amelia kept her mouth shut on Fabian’s comment. She knew that not every Slytherin was bad. In fact she wanted to believe that they were all innocent until proven guilty. Sometimes that thought was terrible when they spewed some of the stuff they did. “We can’t say for sure. There really isn’t any evidence of that yet.” Of course, none of them knew the evidence. “I’m sure we’ll be told what we need to know by the adults around here.” She could conduct her own investigation if she felt like it; Amelia didn’t want to get into trouble or hurt over something like that when right now things seemed stable.
fabxfabian.
“We already have nasty snakes all over the castle, what’re a few more?” He chuckled hard at his own joke. “Okay, fine, Edgar’s off limits. …Actually, all the ‘Puffs are off limits for the time being. They deserve a break with the Kenny shit. Glad they found the kid.”
“Actually, you make a good point,” she turned to look at the Slytherins. “Maybe you should play the prank on the Slytherins instead.” It probably wouldn’t be nearly as funny, at least it would be fitting. “They really do. It’s concerning and I know they’ve got to be relieved though.” Amelia’s mind wasn’t on the relief but what happened. She wanted the why more than anything else. “It’s good for people to focus on him being back; I just want to know why.”

fabxfabian.
“No, you’re right. It’d teach them a lot about responsibility though, don’tcha think?” Fab shook his head, “Oh, I’d feel bad for the ‘Puffs, though. There’s much less joy in spooking them than Gryffindor! It’s like kicking a puppy.”
“Probably, but then we’d have to deal with the snakes all over the castle. I don’t know about you, but I’m not exactly keen on them myself.” Amelia laughed. “Some of them sure. A few of them are just plain annoying. Although I’d rather you not spook Edgar right now. All the others are fair game. It’s not our fault they wouldn’t know the incantation to get rid of them.”
fabxfabian.
“I’m not saying I’ll actually do it, but how funny would it be if I made the licorice snakes over at the Gryffindor table real little garden snakes? It’d be like giving them a bunch of new small pets to take care of.”
@bonesofjustice
“It would be amusing sure, but do you really trust any of the Gryffindors to take care of snakes? Do it over at Hufflepuff and they have a better chance. At least you’d probably end up seeing Diggory covered in snakes crying that they’re all so precious.”
tilden-toots.
He shook his head. “No, don’t worry about it, it’s fine,” he said genuinely, his smile not fading even a little. He then shook his head again, leaning forward into the conversation. “Nope, still interesting,” he said, though he could find almost anything interesting or boring at any given moment; it was always a crap shoot with Tilden. “Do you want to go into the ministry?”
“Good. I don’t want to accidentally have scared you.” She laughed slightly. Amelia loved the library more than anywhere else in the castle, except maybe Ravenclaw’s common room. “Oh, I’m not used to people finding stuff like this interesting.” Law was one of her favorite subjects to think about, so she really liked that someone else found it as fascinating as she did. “Yes, or well... no, but I want to change the laws that are horrible. Being part of the ministry is the best way to do that I think.”
smkedqvrtz.
Her face instantly brightened the moment Amelia agreed to her idea. “Excellent! Let’s go!” Without much warning, the blonde closed the distance between them and looped their arms together; there was no going back now. “C’mon!” A childish laugh left her lips and she began tugging the other’s arm, leading them to the kitchens. Baking was one of her favorite hobbies and a perfect distraction from all the negative things going on around the castle. Surely Amelia could agree. “What should we bake? Chocolate chip cookies? Cupcakes? Brownies? A pie? I do love a good blueberry pie.”
It was a great plan to distract another person by baking. While Amelia wasn’t the best baker, she could follow directions. Which is probably why she was only decent and not amazing. People who could bake usually knew how to deviate slightly from recipes. It was also why she was only competent at potions and not an expert. Amelia smiled and let Charity lead her towards the kitchens. “I’m good with anything. Just tell me what you’re craving, give me some good, clear directions and we’ll make something wonderful. A pie would be amazing as long as I can share a piece with Edgar.”
eddy-bones.
“Just…tell them I’m okay, I guess?” He said with a shrug. He didn’t see the point of getting into it over a letter. He’d only get upset when he didn’t hear back from them. And of course, he didn’t blame them for not having time to write, not really. They were busy with work and that was okay. But sometimes he wanted his dad’s advice and he knew he wouldn’t get any. Not till the break anyway when their parents are forced to spend time with them. “I’ve missed you too.” He said with a sad smile. “I’ll make sure we hang out more. The new curfew isn’t really helping but…can’t last forever right?”
“Alright,” she said with a nod, making a note to add that to the letter before she sent it. Amelia wished for once they’d actually respond. With what was going on at Hogwarts, maybe they had insight that would help them feel better. She didn’t know if it was good to be optimistic about it though. When they honestly let her down so many times. She looked at Edgar and frowned. It really sucked that they were in different houses and Amelia had always thought that. She wanted to be able to see him more often. “No, I suppose it can’t.” The Ravenclaw gave him a soft smile. “But on that note, how are you handling everything with Kenny? I’m here if you want to talk.”

‘‘Work on, or work around? Done something illegal you’re hoping to skirt around?’’ Doe teased. Amelia would probably be the last person that Dorcas would accuse of breaking the law. ‘‘Huh, not such a bad idea though. Maybe I should become a lawyer. Interning at the ministry? Sounds super exciting.’‘ She drawled. Interning at the ministry in fact did not sound exciting to her at all. Unless it was working out in the field with the Aurors, following in her brother’s footsteps. That sounded a whole lot more exciting.
“I’m a lot of things, but trouble isn’t one of them,” she laughed in response to Doe’s question. Maybe someone else in the castle was having legal problems, but it sure wasn’t Amelia. “Oh, I’d love to have a friend in that department after I graduate. Obviously, it’s where I want to work when I graduate. I think an internship will make me stand out from applicants next year.” In truth, Amelia didn’t know exactly what she wanted to do. She wanted to make the world a better place. The Ravenclaw just didn’t agree with how the Order was going about that.
tilden-toots.
Tilden was currently enthralled with the newest issue of Herbology Today when a book was suddenly dropped on his table. He nearly jumped out of his seat, his eyes going wide at Amelia before she noticed he wasn’t her intended audience. He then laughed out loud, leaning back in his chair before he realized they were still in the library and he probably should cool it. “Alright well now you have to tell me what you were up to,” he said as if it was law. “My curiosity is definitely piqued.”
The library was always Amelia’s safe sport. She loved being here more than anything. Getting distracted by all the different books on different topics was one of her favorite things. She even had permission to go to the restricted section by some of her professors who knew she wouldn’t take advantage of it. “Sorry,” she said, sheepishly when she realized that the table she was supposed to be at was one over because all her notes were spread over the table. “Well, I... was doing some personal research. Trying to find a law I disagree with that’s antiquated so I can figure out an arguments against it. Probably not as interesting as you thought.”
eddy-bones.
Edgar frowned a little at the mention of their mum. Not because he didn’t want to send her a letter. Just that he never truly expected to hear back so he didn’t see much point. “Do you think they would even react at the fact my roommate has gone missing?” He asked. He tried not to sound bitter about it but sometimes it couldn’t be helped. He quickly shrugged it off, though, and shook his head. “Nah, I think I’m good. If I come up with something I’ll send her a letter next week.” He told his sister. “I’ve been alright. Pretty stressed but I expected it this year. Maybe not this much but it’s manageable. How about you?”
Amelia really hoped that once in her life, they’d hear back from their parents. A Hogwarts student went missing. Not only that, but a student that their son knew. Someone that was very close to the two of them most every day. But she wasn’t “I really don’t know.” She frowned. It wasn’t as if their home life was the worst situation out there. They both knew their parents cared about them, even if they were absent a lot of the time. “Okay, well we still have a short walk, if you think of anything,” she smiled brightly at him. “I guess the same. I’m enjoying classes and clubs as usual, but feeling stressed with the thought of exams already. I’ve missed you though.”
