Daisy had needed the time between the party and the date to sort things out in her head. Well, that’s what she thought before, but now here, without it sorted, she wasn’t so sure. Perhaps she could spend forever trying to figure it out and it was better to not overthink and simply let it happen. There had been consistency in all her relationships and crushes before Tilden. When did it become before Tilden? It had to be the moment she realized everything she associated with being her type, what she wanted and needed, were also fulfilled by him. She had spent so long not seeing the guy right in front of her. She couldn’t say she had romantic feelings, but she was now open to finding out.
The nerves had carried over into her getting ready. She took a full hour to pick out a white dress covered in floral print, a gift from her mother. Even more time was taken with actually styling her hair for once, the loose waves and wildflowers all intentional. Her wand was tucked into a hidden pocket in the skirt of her dress and she made her way out of the common.
A smile lit up her face when she saw him. There was a subtle bounce to her steps as she made her way over to him. Her eyes looked him up and down. She had always known him to be handsome, but it was different when she properly looking at him. “Hi,” she said softly, and silently hoped her cheeks hadn’t gone bright red to avoid the need to explain any further than, “You look nice. Special occasion today?”
Tilden always thought she looked nice, of course, but he wasn’t expecting her to be covered in fake and real flowers. She literally looked like she walked out of one of his dreams. He couldn’t stop the bright and slightly awed smile that appeared on his face at the sight of her. “Holy shit you look amazing,” he exclaimed before he realized he should probably play along with her little joke. “Well, yeah, I have a date with Daisy Hookum, what occasion could be more special?”
