Chill out with your Faux Hawk out.

In the mood for a chill night out with some friends. Try Scarlett's on Tuesday nights with Jeremy Austin.

Austin is a tatted up man with a pretty radical Faux Hawk. But, don't let him fool you he isn't a hipster singing sad songs all night long.

Austin said that he was "inspired by Def Lepord, Greenday, The Foo Fighters and Butch Walker" Jeremy himself has a smooth voice that fits perfectly with his Tom Petty covers. He also did the best version of Happy Birthday for my friend Chelsea that I have ever heard.

Jeremy Austin has sort of Folk Rock feel with a wide array of songs from many artists. His inspirations have a bit raspier voice than he does, but his acoustics remind me of the Goo Goo Dolls.

I headed over to my good friend Pandora.com to see what it had to say about Austin's inspirations and it was pretty dead on.

The Lion the Music and the LoveChunk.

It's Thursday night and being squished in between tons of your classmates at Panama Hattie's trying to get that free drink just doesn't sound appealing.

You want to sit and talk with your friends, you want to listen to classic hits and some great covers and sounds of reggae, sublime and Third Eye Blind. If this is making your ears scream then head to the White Lion on Thursday Nights.

Love Chunk may not sound like they have it all together, but singer Sam Adam's has a surprisingly smooth voice that can handle a wide range of songs.

You can sit with your friends, talk and have a drink or get up and dance- They do it all. When sitting in the room you can see the meshing of all different groups of people come to hear this one band and it's a pretty neat thing to see.

To be able to rope in such a wide range audience is something that people get paid to do and this band is doing it by just singing songs they love.

And on the 7th Day God Said "Let Their be Reggae"

There is nothing like closing your eyes and feeling the sun on your face with the smell of the ocean's salty breath. And there is nothing that accompanies this better that a little bit of Reggae.

Scholars Word is a band that is infused with Dub and Reggae. Reggae Sunday is a perfect spot for them. 3 men singing through their long locks. The lead singer has his blond dreadlocks pulled back and a pair of aviators on rocking along to his own tunes.

It's hard not to be incised by this music. You don't notice your head bobbing along with the music until 15 minutes after they have started playing. It's music that makes you feel good with a positive message lying within all the lyrics, just like Bob Marley.

Do Kilts Make the Music?

Walking down St. George Street the volume of Celtic music slowly got louder and the sounds of stomping feet were sneaking into my ear drums, each louder than before.  As we rounded the corner onto Hypolita it was if a wave of joy came over me when I heard what could have been Flogging Molly Playing.

It's St. Patricks day and Black 47 is playing at Meehan's Irish Pub. This is a group of guys who look as if they saw each other walking down the street and decided- "Hey... let's make some music." And so they did.

Kilts and all Black 47 stomps to the beat and rocks the bag pipes. With each song everyone is clapping their hands and stomping so hard I think we are all about to end up on the first floor. The energy is flowing and everyone is enjoying their time.

That's what this music is all about; Ireland and its history, drinking, politics, love, friends and Family. If you like The Dropkick Murphy's, Flogging Molly or even the Young Dubliners then I would recommend this band.

The ear knows what the ear wants.

My journey began with an inspiration from the Music Genome Project located on a little website called Pandora Internet Radio, you may have heard of it. The website let's you pic a artist, song, or genre and then creates a personalize Internet radio station that plays that artist, along with others similar. Of course Pandora Radio has 25 "musicologist" categorizing each with over 400 different criteria.

Mission: To find local music here in St. Augustine and decode it. Allowing you to have a head start in decided if it's worth it to head out for a night on the town and perk up your deprived ear drums.

Reggae, folk, rock and roll santa? St. Augustine has it all- and I'm determined to find it.
