Jessica was new to this whole “Vampire” thing, but she was really enjoying certain aspects of her new life. Or perhaps it was technically an “after life.” She wasn’t exactly clear on that part, or any part really. Bill had given her a few basic instructions, but had left much to her imagination. Oh, what an imagination it was!
She wasn’t “allowed” to feed on humans, even though she’d already met a few who didn’t seem to have such limits placed on them. Why did she have to get stuck with such a boring maker? It hardly seemed fair. There was one type of true blood she could stand (albeit, barely) but after having the real thing? There was no comparison. Jess wanted to follow Bill’s rules, but her impulse control was practically non existent. He hadn’t said anything about feeding on animals, right? Surely this would count as a compromise.
Jessica was now more adept than ever at remaining still, silent. Like the dead. But every time a rabbit or deer made it’s presence known, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. They were true innocents, like children. “Fuck.” She whispered, accepting that this endeavor was a lost cause and begun making her way back home. She’d only made it a few steps when she heard the commotion. Using her much beloved new ability of super speed, she bolted her way into the center of the action in less than a blink of an eye.
Vampires, against one human. Why the hell should they get to have human blood, when she was forbidden. “Hey!” She called out, a mischievous smile spreading wide across her features. “You wanna play with someone a little more your speed?” She challenged, fire in her eyes. She didn’t know this human, but if she saved him maybe she would win some much needed points with her oft disappointed maker.
René did pretty well, all his disadvantages considered---even managed to knock out one of the four fangs bared at him. Their speed, however, was more than he could handle. Massive built and towering height did nothing to prepare him when his legs were swiped from under him. Falling with a dry thud, he found the air knocked out his lungs as his vision blurred. His body was on autopilot, silver covered hand gripping at a neck.
René didn’t have the time to register that there was someone else there until his sight cleared and he saw only one of two vampires atop of him. Realizing he hadn’t take hold of a neck but a shoulder, René tried to grab the stake that had fallen under him when he was thrown on the ground. There must have been another human who’d come to help, or so he thought, the idea lighting a fire under him. After his free hand gripped the stake, René swiftly pushed it through the vampire’s chest. What he had not expected was the mess. After a moment of chaos, panic and confusion, René was left sitting on his ass, bloodied stake in hand and some godforsaken good on his lap.
He didn’t gag out of shock, looking up in a daze to see his second attacker. What pulled him out of the haze was the fact that his aid had come in the form of another fanger. Adrenaline pumping through his body, René didn’t even realize the had a deep cut along his arms and his left ankle had been gnawed on. Charging at his second attacker, René stuffed his silver chain down the other’s mouth before kicking him off. Before he knew what was happening, his attacker scurried off yelping and hissing.. Leaving him with the newcomer. “I ain’t nobody’s dinner, me,” he warned spitefully, baring the used stake between them.
