I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"
My little brother insisted if I was going to post about him, he wanted a cut of the "profits". When I explained to him that Tumblr isn't monetized, and is pretty pointless, he and my older brother pointed out that he'd still be bringing me "fame and notoriety" if the post got "big". So we agreed, if the post hit 10k notes, which seemed extremely farfetched and silly at the time, I'd take my little brother out for sushi (his favorite food) and let him eat as much as he wants.
I guess God wanted the little robot to enjoy some sushi ๐ฃ ๐ฅฒ

Hello Tumblr, this is Willow, an 11 year old kitty, who is part of my family. I am Michael, a 30 yr old trans/queer disabled person fighting for stability. Right now, our family is struggling to stay housed and afford food/gas. We've been living between motel 6s for over 3 years now. Due to the poor situation the US is currently in, as well as the high price of living in the state of California, my family of 4 can barely make ends meet.
(This is where the 4 of us live--there is not much room and no kitchen)
We desperately need food and room rent until we can find stable housing. I am disabled, struggling with chronic pain and POTS. My mother is also disabled with chronic pain. I've been working on making calls and getting a case manager for housing, but it takes time that's out of my control. I am also currently working with a lawyer to get on disability payments. Progress is being made, but it's just so agonizingly slow. My step father works a shit job that he's pretty much stuck in, and he's exhausted and spread thin just like the rest of is. This job does not support us enough.
If the kindness of Tumblr be willing, we could really use some help. We're dead exhausted, we barely sleep, and are sick often. Stress is all we know of right now. Just getting anything would be extremely appreciated. Room rent for each individual day is usually around $160-180, but we get a good discount if we pay for 7 days at once.

I would actually go as far as to say that MOST abuse is unintentional. I think most people will go through their lives without ever experiencing intentional abuse. People are abusive because they're selfish, because they're stressed, because they care more about what society thinks they should do than the impacts of their actions on their children and partners, because they think what they're doing is correct, because they've made it make sense in their own heads, because they think they can fix their victims, they think they can fix their relationships, they think they can stop you from leaving, they think they can make you a better partner to them, they think that means you need to do what they want. We've sort of constructed mental illness in a way that doing this shit to other people counts as a form of mental illness because it is anti social behavior in the literal senseโ it is behavior that causes social harm.
I don't say any of this to excuse it. I think everyone needs to be more aware of this because if you think abuse has to be intentional you will never realize you are capable of abusive behavior. You will never realize you are being shitty to the people you love, because YOU know what you mean, YOU know you don't mean any harm. But you're doing harm. You need to pay attention to the impact you have on other people, and you need to do it all the time, Especially when you feel least capable of doing so. Sorry! You live in a society. Get your head out of your ass.

You know what? Fuck it I'm adding more context. Sesame Street has talked about the topic of death more than once and it's done with such gentle carefulness without watering down or censoring the heaviness of the situations. It treats heavy subject matter with respect and dignity and has been for DECADES. From the early 1980s:

Hell, they even cover the devastating heaviness of MASS SHOOTINGS without censoring or watering anything down.
They've been doing this for YEARS, and it's ALWAYS handled with dignity, respect, seriousness, understanding, and love.
Whenever I see people censoring words because it "might offend" someone or the big ad companies that are currently trying to run everything? I just want to say to them: "What? Is Sesame Street too mature for you?" Because really...what the hell are we doing.
I'm back with even more examples! Sesame Street once again to this day is out here handling extremely difficult subject matter with incredible care and respect. "We can't let kids learn about uncomfortable things!" Oh, really now? Even though they're things that happen in everyday life that they'll face one day at some point anyway? Interesting. They even also have a more allegorical take on discrimination and being looked down on for who you are, featuring Big Bird. The conflict is about how he's not being let into a club because the one bird running the club personally decided he didn't want someone like Big Bird there.
Big Bird goes out of his way to keep changing parts of himself in order to "prove" he can fit into this club if he just changed enough. The truth comes out though, and there's nothing he can do to gain the approval of that bird. He will never be good enough in his eyes, and Big Bird starts to hate himself. His real friends see this finally put their feet down, emphasizing that you should never change yourself just to fit into one singular narrow idea someone else has.
There's A LOT of different situations this can be an allegory for. Racism, sexism, homophobia, basically ANY form of exclusion is put on full blast in this 15 minute clip. Sesame Street can be both blunt and allegorical when approaching difficult topics, and it NEVER misses or looses the point.
It does an exceptional job in both styles of representation WITHOUT watering anything down. The more sanitized everything gets, the more radical Sesame Street is suddenly considered, hence why so many "particular groups" want it gone. Hmmm! I can only imagine why that could be, in this current political climate! (I'm being sarcastic)
When Sesame Street is suddenly labeled as "questionable" or "politically/agenda motivated" content...it says A LOT about where we currently are and who gets to decide what's "best" for kids or not. Don't fall for the censorship and topic-dodging excuses that are covered by the "But think of the children!!!" movement. Never fall for it, because you know which side you're on if you do.
Sesame Street proves kids can be taught and trusted with learning about these topics when it's handled with the right amount of understanding and care. It shows what all this "controversy" is all really about. What it's always been about, actually.
Don't fall for it, always side with Sesame Street.

hey - been in such profound crisis in a neglectful hospital admission and havenโt been able to update. queer multiply disabled Filipina femme forcibly discharged from hospital two days ago, after ten days in hell with a doctor who pitted me as a hypochondriac through his first impression of me when I landed in the hospital against my will, so sick with PEM after a necessary ED investigation that I couldnโt sit up or walk out, followed by a decline in the hospital that kept me stuck in there without any investigation or care besides forced rehab.
Because of this framing, I was routinely neglected by nurses to the point I was constantly on the verge of fainting while they ignored my buzzers, and my new and acute issues remain uninvestigated for concerns of โfurther harming me through testingโ. Iโm currently experiencing big blood pressure drops, sensory loss, rapid muscle loss, my bladder isnโt working normally, struggling to physically move, and more.
Thereโs a general medicine doctor who works with complex presentations and treated a friend of mine who took interest in my case, but Iโll need to present to the ED of a private hospital to see her and itโs $510 just to enter, and up to $270 for imaging and $150 for bloods. I have been unable to care for myself, need to get seen today and would like to crowdfund it through many and w visibility because my only other options rn are relying on my abusers or another patient who I donโt know well who offered to assist, with much more power than me. any amount would be really helpful, pls donate if white waged and able
