Personal Curriculum ideas -
I thought I would share some ideas as I am doing my own research / planning for my own curriculum ideas! 1. Animals - What are your favorite animals? You can have curriclum on just that species, or a genre of species. I am planning on doing at least a 'semester' of Shark research. I love sharks so so much! I want to learn more about sharks and their parts in the echosystem.
2. Hobbies - Is there a hobby you want to get into? Ceramics, painting, creative writing, (even videogames) - Learn about the history or get into the hobby yourself.
3. Baking or Cooking - Think about highschool! They have classes about baking and cooking, and so can you. Do you have a type of food you want to learn to cook. You can add this into types of curriculum if you want - lanquage / history
4. Religion. - I want to learn more about paganism, as well as greek and egyption gods etc. If you are catholic, a satanist, pagan yourself, etc add this to your curriculum.
5. Genre deep dives. If you are a reader and you want to read different types of genres make it part of or a curriculum of its own. You could also make this a movie genre deep dive. Your own film class if you will.
6. Fashion. Do you love fashion? Get into the history of fashion, go by years. In addition if you want to get into sewing you could add that into your fashion curriculum.
7. Mythos - Urban Legends - Cryptids - If you are the kind of person who loves mythology or wants to learn more about these in general you can set it as a curriculm.
8. Seasons/Holidays - Depending on how you are setting up your curriculum you could do reserach on the history of Holidays. Where did they begin from, what do different countries do for those holidays etc.
9. Gardening. - You could make a curriculum to research the right kind of plants for your area, when to plant, and build your own garden during this time.
10. Fitness. Now I know what youre thinking, but highschool has gym, even college does. You can take classes on thsi so why cant you build a curriculum based on fitness? Swim, Yoga, just general working out. Maybe this will be a way to motivate you to do it more regularly?
Think about your interests. What were your favorite classes in school? Don't let that disapear.
Other things I suggest to do to really get into the personal curriculum
Feild Trips. - If you're doing animal reserach go to a zoo or aquarium.
Go to your local library - Not only does the library offer books on whatever you're trying to reserach they often have classes or know where you can find classes to attend.
Think about your interests.
Personal curriculum doesn't need to / shouldn't have to break your bank. The point of this is to not spend a ton on your education. There should be ways to find free recourses in whatever you're into. Though if you have the means / want to go ahead and go to a class held in your community.
how to make a mini library of alexandria (on a laptop) and actually use it: short guide
So what do I mean by this
Basically
Read a lot. Learn a lot by reading a lot
Knowing where to read a lot, have variety ykwim
Be smart but the chaotic academic way
In this age, it is very important to educate yourself if the world won’t do it for you
WHERE TO FIND INFORMATION
First, how do you find places to lurk in and gain info from (for books):
Where to find recommendations : literally anywhere but my favorite place is pinterest
Read for free: onlinereadfreenovel.com , novel80.com,
Download for free : OceanofPDF , Planet eBook, d-pdf.com, pdfdrive.com, even pinterest (I once found the entire cruel prince series and the heroes of olympus series on it)
Yeah a library is a place of books, but most importantly, it's a hub of knowledge . Some places where you can learn a lot of include: articles, channels, interviews, websites, audiobooks, aka the media
HOW TO LEARN AND INTERACT WITH THIS INFO
How to force yourself to learn it in the first place: Have the page up and let it sit there on an interesting page (or article or point of the movie) so that when you remember and glance at it you’ll want to read or know more and keep going.
The best way to know a lot about something is to deep dive into it and the best way to do that is to rabbit hole. For medias and books, you can start by researching:
Their sources
Their author/directors/creator’s : other works, inspirations or any considered successor, life (specific experiences that might have shaped who they are)
How to interact with the knowledge you’ve just learn
Discuss it, debate it, teach it, sing it, write it, just share it
HOW TO ORGANIZE ALL THESE BOOKS (what I do)
Make folders on File Explorer or alternatives (for e.g. i have a folder of all my books and another for my movies with subfolders)
Make lists of books you have and books on the tbr list
Sites/apps for notetaking : Notion, Obsidian, Arena, Milanote
this is kinda rushed and weird but I liked making this so yeah!

you ever notice that some people seem to think its only acceptable to have hobbies as an adult if you have autism. like okay yeah sure special interests etc etc its not an unreasonable thing to link together but also if you cant enjoy toys and games over the age of 20 i think youre the one missing out. get a lil whimsy in your heart.
"Can't pour from an empty cup", but it's about your parents trying to teach you to respect them when they've never respected a single thing in their entire lives.
Libraries are sneaky, because once you go in, it's soo easy to get a library card, and once you have one, you can pretty much grab one of everything of all the stuff they have there with no consequence, and take it home. But then once you're home and you've read all the stuff you'll have to go back to the library to return the stuff, and once you're at the library again, you're at the library again, so might as well pop in to see what they got, and then you're hauling half their shit home again, and then you'll need to return to the library to return them, so you're at the library again
And the next thing you know you've read 3000 books, your crops are clear and your skin is watered, an angel descents from the heaven to suck your dick twice a week, and also you've got some books to return so you've got a perfectly valid reason to go pop in to the library. Just a little bit.
the few minutes between the moment u yap in someones dms and they dont answer and you feel like you should get painfully dismembered for the crime of talking to someone vs the instant relief of normalcy you get when they text back and no ones killed you yet
“people won’t be friends with you if you’re mean to them” is something you have GOT to learn in adulthood if you never learned it as a shut-in internet-socialized youth. you can’t just go up and say to ppl to shut the fuck up and kill themselves all the time and then expect people to genuinely care for you.

Laika to Ground Control I don’t suppose you’re coming back for me but I don’t mind, it’s nice out here. You said before I launched: there’s no way back —I’m a halfway thing, more bullet than dog out into the dark morning and forever to this black field where Great Canine winks her distant starry eye. Empty as the space that lies between two barks. Full to bursting.
Laika to Ground Control can I chase my tail? I know you want me to sit still but it’s calling me, just for a second, please. I can see our planet from here smooth like the wind washed it soft and blue, we’re going round, I’m having the time of my life you don’t have to worry but can I chase my tail? There’s nothing here for me to knock over. I miss you. But I don’t mind, in a hold silver as this any mongrel can be a heroine; any stray can make history.
Laika to Ground Control [BACKGROUND STATIC] sorry, I forgot what I was going to say, Laika to Ground Control from above Earth is alive at night, light golden as a million miniature suns, makeshift constellations. What do I look like from below? Do I glimmer like a freckle or an exit wound? I’ve been sitting still. You don’t have to worry. I miss you.
Laika to Ground Control they have summer in space, did you know? The hours walk warmer and warmer, the ceiling gleams with June moons begging for a howl. I’m lonely, moons don’t howl back. I would sit still for years if it meant I could go back to you. I miss you. I don’t mind. I miss you though.
Laika to Ground Control I miss you. If you would come out here and pet me I swear to Dog I’ll be good, never bark again, you’ll have to find me a new name. Kometka, little comet, maybe, I would crash into the sea to swim to your side. Be your satellite. You’re bigger than Earth in my eyes, I don’t need stars, only you.
Laika to Ground Control there are pinpricks of light behind my eyes. Hot like a bite. The world is fast and unbreakable, and I’m just a dog. And I miss you.
Laika to Ground Control I miss you. Have I told you that yet? Out there in the silk-black nothing they’ve long forgotten what time is. In here time crawls. In here everything shimmers, in here it’s just me. I think I’m dying. You don’t have to worry, I was nothing and you swung me from alley to orbit, from the dirt to the stars. I don’t mind. I just miss you. I miss you like the space that lies between two breaths. Full to burning.]
Derek: What is your biggest fear?
Stiles: Hmm...I don’t know. How about you?
Derek: Sure, I can be yours if you want me to.
Version of my au where Stiles goes with Derek and Laura to New York, and went to college there + absolutely inspired/taken from the beginning of BarlowGirl 's fic on Ao3, Where the Wind Don't Change
In a nearby cafe studying with other kids in his class.
Classmate 1, nudges Stiles: Who's the gorgeous dude glaring at you? Derek: *Outside the cafe staring intently at Stiles through the window* Stiles, without turning or looking up: I owe money to the Russian mafia Classmate 2: What?
Stiles, about Derek: We walk at night. He thinks he's protecting me but I would rip someone apart if they threatened his life.
Scott: Must be hard not being able to laugh. Derek: I do have a sense of humor, you know. Scott: I’ve never heard you laugh before. Derek: I’ve never heard you say anything funny.
