alright, guys. after months of inactivity, i think it's finally time to bring this blog's mcyt age to an end :]
i kept hoping that i'd get a second wind, or that i'd somehow get pulled back into it, but. this is it! i'm actually getting kind of choked up about it, because this blog and this fandom were such big parts of my life for a very, very long time. but a combination of time, personal events, and drifts in the fandom community have brought my time here to a close.
i joined here in june of 2020, when the fandom was incredibly small. my art has improved, i've gained friends, i'm dating the most wonderful boy, and now, it's november of 2022, over two years later. i'll always hold a soft spot in my heart for mcytblr, especially in those first six months. but while i've been studying for my senior year and going to concerts and living my life, the fandom kept moving. it's not the same place i fell in love with, and i don't wish that it would be.
this will still be my art account! in fact, i might post more often, now that i'm not pressured to make art for a fandom that isn't mine anymore. i hope that anyone who isn't interested doesn't feel pressured to stay; a lot of you were just here for the mcyt art, and that's perfectly fine. but if any of you want to see art of my ocs or other media i draw for, i'd love for you to stay!

Clip Studio Paint is becoming a subscription service
I DID THE NUMBERS AND BOY ARE THEY SAD
So this was great to wake up to (lie). Clip Studio Paint will be releasing Version 2.x in 2023 and it will be the weirdest, most convoluted subscription service we've seen yet.
You can buy V 2.0 for a one time purchase but in turn it will not receive any updates beyond 2.0.1 (stability update). You can stay on V 1.x, which will still receive support until V 3.x is released.
But if you want new features and further bug fixes, purchase of the ✧*:・゚✧ Update Pass ✧*:・゚✧ will be necessary.
The ✧*:・゚✧Update Pass✧*:・゚✧ will allow you to update your software to the newest version. But here's the kicker, once your pass expires, you won't get to keep the updates you've payed for, you will be forced to fall back to V 1.x or V 2.x, depending on if you've bought a perpetual license for V 2.x (yeah, you still need the Update Pass even if you buy V 2.x) (yeah, this makes CPS no better than Adobe).
CPS has a subscription plan, for ~6$/month. In comparison with Adobe's 20$/month, this isn't bad. But Adobe's base prices already include being able to download the app and sign in on multiple devices, while CPS's does not. It is 12$/month for a dual device plan, and 14$/month to be able to have your software on up to 4 devices. And when you compare it with Adobe like that, suddenly it is bad.
If you must update between versions, so far the cheapest solution seems to be the subscription plan for one device (they have not announced the price of the Update Pass yet) get it now and it will update you to V 2.x.
But if you find V 1.x satisfactory (which it very much is), please, please don't buy the new version just because they tell you you should want it. If V 1.x already does everything you need it to do, keep your money.
Keep using V 1.x, and don't give CPS money or praise ever again.
Below are the graphs I just saved you from deciphering.
