A year later and I just found out the third book is going to be titled Supernova xD
I got stuck in the middle of “Lord of Shadows” and have only just finnished “The Red Scrolls of Magic” So I only just found out about the plot twist... and I’ve never been this close to crying happy tears because of a book.
.... but I just... can’t stop thinking about Raphael... he didn’t know.
Six of Crows character illustrations commissioned by Fox & Wit! These cards are some of the goodies included in their book themed subscription boxes.
I recently finished Six of Crows and I love it! Such a wonderfully engaging and exciting book (and a bit of a darker fantasy story, which I am super into). Looking forward to Crooked Kingdom.
Maybe everyone has hunger like this-impossible, insatible, but allconsuming in spite of it all. Maybe the desert dreams of spilling rivers, valleys of a view. Maybe that hunger will one day pass. But if it does, I will be left shelled and halved and hollowed out, and who can live like that?
A Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee (p. 80)
Percy sees me off at the door with more affirming words but no hug or even a pat upon the shoulder. Thank God for friends who learn to speak to you in your own language rather than making you learn theirs.

First 55 pages I’m so confused... and not in a good way
Okay but seriously real talk. Literally there were just so many beautiful quotes is Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
- “The problem with my life was that it was someone else’s idea.”
- “Birds exist to teach us about the sky.
- “There are worse things in the world than a boy who likes to kiss other boys.”
- “How could I ever be ashamed of loving Dante Quintana?”
- “I got to thinking that poems were like people. Some people you got right off the bat. Some people you just didn’t get - and never would.”
- “I bet you could sometimes find all the mysteries of the universe in someone’s hand.”
LIKE WTF THIS BOOK IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND DEEP AND JUST SO WONDERFUL
“This is your life, and it will stretch out before you, and you are the only person who can make it whatever you want it to be.”
- Autoboyography by Christina Lauren
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Mason and McNulty chats.... (p.129)
I’m so tired of the way they’re talking, it hurts to read, it makes me not want to finish.
I know the reason is probably “because they’re teenage boys” I wen’t to a high school with 80% boys. This is not “being boys” it’s “being immature”
Of course you can be both, but I really want to like Ezra and this is making it very difficult.
Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart is pretty straight forward, I have a good idea what's going on.
Except it's been compared to Red Queen so I don't trust anyone, and it's making me anxious.
sometimes you have to ask yourself, do i have an unreasonable amount of books? and the answer is always yes. yes, you have too many, and yes, you should have more
Nova has superpowers... she’s a supernova O:
I just realiced that I have 14 books on my “currently reading”/ “this has been standing too long on my shelf” shelf. So if I read two of them each month I should be done this year.
So I have.(in order of how I’ll probably read them)
- The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson (currently stuck 1/3 through) - The Darkest Mind by Alexander Bracken (I know I’m going to love this!) - Among Thieves by Douglas Hulick (I’ve heard it’s a bit like The Lies of Lock Lamora, so I wanna read this first as to not get dissapointed) - The Lies of Lock Lamora by Scott Lynch (Sounds amazing and like a lot of effort) - Cinder by Merissa Meyer (Pretty sure I’m going to love this) - Imperial Spy by Mark Robson (A reread) - Stranger than Fanfiction by Chris Colfer (One of the only authers that makes me laugh out loud) - The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green (I haven’t had it for that long, but I can feel that it doesn’t interest me enough, even though I think I’m going to like it) - Suspicion by Alexandra Monir (I think I’ve had it since it came out and I’m still not in the mood) - Attachment by Rainbow Rowell (a book I don’t think I’ll like but I am in the mood for... wtf?) - The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne (It’s short and I think I’ll love it even though I don’t really read the genre) - Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott - Legend by David Gemmell - Jackaby by William Ritter (I’m halfway through and needs to start over)
What do you think, where whould I start?
May 2018 wrap up
The theme of the month - secret identeties. It wasn’t intentional but thats what ended up happening.
The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross (6/10) The first book I read I got from LitJoy’s February box (Upon her throne). It’s a YA fantasy following a young girl as she finishes her last year in an all girls boardingschool and now has to figure out where to go and what it means to be a family. I liked it, but it wasn’t that memorable.
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo (7/10) I got this from the LitJoy March box (Poor unfortunate souls). It’s a YA fairy tale retelling of the little mermaid. Sirens in this world gets power by collecting human hearts and one of our main characters is a siren that pride herself in only taking the hearts of princes. She has set her eye on our other main character, a prince known for killing sirens with his pirate crew. But before she can kill him, she gets cursed into being a human until she gets the princes hart without her powers.
Renegades by Marissa Meyer (9/10) Without a doubt my favourite book of the month. It’s a YA dystopian that takes place 10 years after the superheroes won the war against the supervillans. The heroes are now in control of everything, but despite their good intentions they’re not really suited for the job. We follow the son of some of the most famous heroes and the niece of the biggest villen, they form a friendship despite the many secrets they both have. I love this story so much, and I already want to read it again, even though I rarely reread.
Eliza and her Monsters by Francesca Zappia (6/10) This could have been a 7 but the ending makes me want to give it a 5. It’s a YA contemporary romance following a girl in high school dealing with anxiety and her online life as a super famous comic writer with millions of readers. One day a new boy starts at her school and she finds out that he is one of the most famous fanfiction writers of her comics. I really did like their relationship and the first ¾ of the book. It’s just the last part that disapointed me.
If you want to discus any of these books (or anything else I have on my blog) feel free to write to me :D
“Don’t put your wand there, boy!” Roared Moody. “What if it ignited? Better wizards than you have lost buttocks, you know!”
“Who d’you know who’s lost a buttock?” The violet-haired woman asked Mad-Eye interestedly.
“Never you mind, you just keep your wand out of your back pocket!”
(Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix p.44)
