I think the card system would have been fine.

Had they made the cost if summoning them normal coins and not a whole new currency.

We already spend millions of coins enhancing treasures, throwing a few more for some cards is meh.

And to nerf the amount if points the cards give. The level and rarity discrepancy is far too big for how difficult to it is to get the cards in the first place.
