âMy New Year resolution is to take more risks and to start off, Iâm thinking of getting a tattoo. Harry Potter related, of course. And no Snape, no Dumbledore. But thatâs all Iâve thought of so far, I need ideas.â

âI could do this, but I mean Iâm not the greatest teacher, Iâm much better when Iâm teaching animals thingsâŠbut cleaning spells are quite simple.â
âDonât undermine yourself, I think youâll be a great teacher.â he smiled. âI mean they are sort of simple, but I feel like I mess up every time so maybe I am not cut out for doing those spells.â he sighed.
bookishdean:
âI think you get the discontent feeling only if you think that youâre trapped, you know? But then again, I have been here since I was a child, so I donât really know how the people who just happen by here feel. And yeah, thatâs true.â he added smiling back at her. âTen - ten thousand? Wow - that is just - I guess being bored to death isnât a thing, huh?â he chuckled.
âWe are trapped here, not being able to leave is the literal definition of trapped. If I wasnât immortal, maybe I wouldnât care as much but Iâd rather not be stuck here for eternity with some of the other immortals around.â she mumbled softly. âUnfortunately not, sometimes wish it was though.â
"Yes, I know but - " Dean struggled to come up with the words to explain what he meant. "I mean, by that definition you were trapped in the world you know? Like you don't have the ability to fly out into space at will so it never mattered. You knew your limits and you were free within it. I guess in my mind this island is the limit for me because I grew up with the knowledge that I cannot leave." He took a deep breath, turning slightly red as he realized how much he was talking. "Sorry I didn't mean to bore you." he mumbled apologetically. "I wish i knew a way to get out, I'm sorry. What? You wish that was - why?"

âHe was not just asking. He was getting angry with me that we didnât have the book. Like, iâm not some fucking Warlock, okay. I canât make the book he wants appear out of thin air. And hey, Iâm not appreciating your attitude either, Mister.â Jacky commented, tapping his nose with her fingers before moving to another aisle to continue her work. As she resumed her stocking, her fingers ran along the book the old man had been looking for. She mentally cursed before quickly covering it up with another book before Dean would notice.
âSo you decided that it was a good idea to yell at him?â he questioned with a raised eyebrow. âYou behave like a child sometimes.â He shook his head in exasperation as he began to work on arranging the books on the shelf. âWonder whatâs the reason for my sucky attitude today.â he grumbled under his breath.

âIâll have to make it up to her, after everything she did for me today.â The blonde sighed, shaky fingers tangling into her hair as she buried her head in the palm of her hands. The most Harper could ever ask for on this day was for Emma to be happy. âThatâs life, itâs unfair sometimes.â More like a lot of the time, she thought to herself as she peered up. âCan we put on Toy Story?â she barely whispered, words hoarse.
âAnd you can when you are feeling up to it, I am sure she doesnât mind.â he said softly. Dean knew how unfair life could be, he hadnât lost a sibling as such, not the way she had but he had at one point thought he would never meet his sister ever again. And that realization had been heartbreaking for him, he wondered how much worse it was for Harper, he could only imagine. âYes, we can put on Toy Story. Or anything you want. Come on.â he said, taking her hand and making her get up from the spot sheâs been stuck in all day.
flylikeharper:
âOnly time will tell,â she teased. âThank you, thatâll be a lot of help. Iâm taking up extra shifts at the shop, so you know,â Harper easily lied, shrugging her shoulders as though it was nothing. âOh no, no I wouldnât want you to jeopardize your work, Iâm sure I can find a sitter or some place for her to go if weâre both working.â She swallowed, a thought crossing her mind temporarily before she quickly pushed it away.Â
âThat sounds hectic. Do you really need to do more shifts?â he said, frowning slightly. âItâs okay, I am sure we can work things out, you may not really need a sitter but you know how it is with school, sometimes I might have to let you make other arrangements. Iâll let you know in advance though.â

âThatâs because weâre siblings, if we were kind all the time, some might question if weâre legit.â she wiggled her brows playfully, gasping dramatically as the snowball hit. âDamn it. You donât have to feel guilty, okay? Or if you want, I do have some photos at my place, that might help just as much.â
âFair point.â he smiled at her, then cheered when the snowball hit her. âSnow isnât so bad after all.â he chuckled. âYou have photos? Can you show me them sometime? Please?â

When Lennox had gone to the library in search for something new to read, she had originally gone for Normandyâs suggestion on what to read. The Hybrid Librarian was pretty good at finding stuff that Lennox enjoyed. But when she had arrived, Andy had already been gone for the day. So she set off to find a book on her own. It had been then that she had found Clockwork Angel tucked into the shelves.Â
The cover intriguing her, she opened it to Deanâs note. Not wanting to take the book without leaving one of her own, she pulled âLooking for Alaskaâ out of her bag. It had been Normandys suggestion. A beautiful book, but a sad one.
"I donât know if youâll get this or if someone else will but Iâm going to give Clockwork Angel a try. You should read this one, but much like the one I am taking, only read it when you are in a good headspace. Itâs a beautifully written book but extremely sad. Happy Reading.â
Two days had passed since he found the book which Lennox had left him and now yet again, the book lay across the room and Dean was on bed cursing himself for deciding to put himself through this despite her warning. When he visited the library again, the book he left her that evening at the same spot was something a bit different to the other two the pair had read. (Slammed by Colleen Hoover)
âAlaska (Iâve decided to call you Alaska), I got the book and Iâve finished it and I am now in pain. My eyes are so swollen and somethingâs up with my voice, I sound sort of like Jesse Eisenberg when I speak, which is certainly weird. So now this book is a lot happier one, I am rereading it to make myself feel better and itâs sort of working. It has its sad moments, but over all itâs a happy read. Hope you like it, if you find it. And ps: did you like Clockwork Angel? I think the series is pretty great!â

Kiara wanted to say more, but decided it best to just drop the subject. âBrilliant.â She mumbled, looking down excitedly at the picture, impressed by the details. âYouâll have to create your own one of these days then, huh? But for now, weâll just stick with protective charms.â she nodded, starting to walk in the direction of the park. âI admittedly havenât taken the Ilvermorny sorting test yet, I need to do that.â
âYeah, it was amazing.â he said looking down at the picture with obvious pride. âIt took God knows how long to build and a few kids jumped on top of it within minutes but yeah, it was great while it lasted. And you should do that, the houses are pretty interesting, a lot different from the Hogwarts ones.â
camsicles:
âOh sorry, I didnât mean to speak in a bragging sort of way. I think part of me is envious of those that donât know what life off the island is like.â she shrugged. âI wonder if they make fancy cocktails, Iâm not great with straight liquor.â
âItâs okay, I didnât mean to say you were bragging, sorry. Oh why? What do you mean?â he asked curiously. âThey do, and I swear every one of the drinks I tried was super amazing.â
sweetxcaro-line:
âThen treat your sister with some kindness,â she smiled, shaking her head. âIâm teasing you, you know? Lighten up a little. You can ask me anything, you know? And no, of course not.â
âYouâre the only person to ever tell me that I am not being kind enough.â he chuckled, throwing another snowball at her. âI know I can ask, but I donât know where to start because I donât really remember much and that makes me feel sort of guilty.â
alphazane:
âSheâs doing great, just finishing her last year of preschool before starting kindergarten. She misses you too, you should come around the house.â
âWow, sheâs growing up.â he said smiling. âI donât know - um, youâre lying. She probably doesnât even remember me.â
teddybarebone:
âSome might dispute that,â he mumbled under his breath, shrugging. âBut okay. I learned those charms quickly, they were my favorite to use when I was younger..they came in handy.â
âYou could show me how to do them properly. I could helpful cleaning charms when I am feeling extra lazy.â he chuckled.

Pale digits tapped against the rooftop softly to the beat of âwhen she loved meâ from Toy Story, eyes filling to the brim with tears as she let her gaze linger on the galaxy above. âIâm not really in the mood for cake, Emma can have it, if she wants. My phone is turned off, I donât want to face the dozens of messages that should be doubled.â she admitted, pulling her hand back as the crisp cold air brushed over, burying it deep in her sweater pocket. âOh.â she whispered in realization, not being one to often open up to others, Piper was often a topic she avoided around new faces. âItâs also Piperâs birthday, celebrating without her feels so, so wrong and out of place. How can I be happy when Iâm not the only one that should be turning twenty-three today? I donât think TV will be much help, Iâd rather not bring the mood of the entire house down.â
âShe fell asleep waiting for you, I put her to bed.â He frowned at her words, not completely understanding what she meant but even she seemed to realize that soon that he didnât know what she was talking about. When she explained more, Dean didnât know what to say to console the girl. âI am so sorry, Harper.â he mumbled as he squeezed her hand lightly, suddenly making sense of Emma call Harper by her twinâs name quite often. âItâs okay, itâs just me now. Come back inside.â

Hearing the commotion at the front of the store, Dean dropped the books he was arranging at the far corner of the store and hurried towards Jacky to see what was going on. Watching the customer walk out of there, he followed him to the door but the man had disappeared into the crowd outside before he could say anything. âWhat was that about, Jacky. You know that guy buys like twenty books a month!â
Jacky ignored Dean as he ran past her to the door, going back to stocking the shelves with books, obviously not that shaken by the customers choice to not come back. As her coworker began to speak, actually yell, at her, Jacky glanced up at him and raised an eyebrow at his accusations. âHe can buy the whole damn store if he wanted to. That doesnât excuse the fact heâs a jerk. He can be a little nicer when asking for things. I wonât stand to be treated like that.â she rolled her eyes.
Dean put his hands up in the air, the hypocrisy of her words making him unable to form any words at all for a few seconds. âAre you serious right now?â he finally asked her. âAre you sure it was he who was being a jerk? He was literally just asking for a book we didnât have! You just had to say when weâll have a copy for him - you can be a little nicer when answering things!â Â
