This tbr list is made up of different genres and books that I started reading last month but did not have enough intrinsic motivation to finish them.
1. A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas- This book is about Nesta adjusting to her new life in the Night Court and processing the trauma that she experienced in the last book. I began reading it at the beginning of February and I just did not like Nesta as a person. She really frustrated me and gave me a lot of anxiety. I hope that I will be able to finish it because I do like the characters and that it shows how different people process trauma differently, but it has been a struggle.
2. The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes- It is about a girl living in uncertain living conditions that is working hard to get into a good college on a scholarship and a complete stranger, leaves most of his inheritance to her. She is especially good at puzzles and codes, so this stranger leaves a code for her to solve about why he left the inheritance to her and not the rest of his family. There is also one condition for her to receive the inheritance. She has to live with his family for one year in their family home. I began reading this book in February and it was okay. I did not really like the dialogue between the characters, but I want to give it another try this month.
3. The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V. E. Schwab- This is the story about a woman that was cursed to live forever but no one can remember her for longer than a day. I had started this one in February, but I did not have enough time to really get into it and I did not really feel like reading a story like that during that time. I am hopeful to continue reading it though.
4. American Pain by John Temple- This is the story of why opioids became so widely dispersed by doctors and how it became such an issue in the United States. I have always been interested in how opioids came about and why doctors prescribed them so much to people. I also like that it does not focus on the narrative that it is the person struggling the substance abuse disorder's fault that this crisis is so bad. I am really excited for this read.
5. Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston- This is the story of two prominent people in the world falling in love in secret. One is the president of the United States' son, and one is a prince of England. They have to keep their relationship secret because of the politics associated with their families. I began reading this story last month and the romance was really good until the middle of the book. I may have just started a slow part, but I am excited to finish it.
6. November 9th by Colleen Hoover- This book is about a writer that meets the person who becomes the muse for his next novel. I have always liked Colleen Hoover's books and I am excited to read this one.
7. Chicken sisters by KJ Dell'Antonia- It is about two very different sisters that own a fried chicken shop. I have two sisters and I love how connected sisters can be even though they can be vastly different or want completely different things in life. I am excited to read this one because I have heard it gives Hatfield and Mccoy vibes.
8. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid- This story is about a family's night together and explains their past leading up to that night. I heard it gives summer vibes and it expands on this character in the next book I will mention. I have heard that it has summery vibes and I have really been chasing that lately because I am sick of winter.
9. Daisy and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid- This is the story of a fictional band in the seventies and what it was like to tour with them. I have always idolized rockers and musicians living their lives on the road. I have heard great things about this book, and I am excited to read it. I will be reading this one before Malibu Rising.
Thank you for reading and fingers crossed that I actually finish this!
