It has a huge variety of historical recipes from different regions, taken from manuscripts, transcribed and translated, and a whole section of notes about the context for the recipe. It's really fun and I AM going to try a couple of these recipes.

I keep thinking about Eridians and Rocky’s gem from Adrian and his celebration outfit.

The little stone rocky had from adrian was literally in his arm, and it made me think about Grace getting a stone like that from Rocky, which lead to me wondering if Grace could have it in his skin somehow. Earrings. Earrings would be perfect for this.

I was ALSO thinking about Rocky’s celebration outfit- who’s to say Grace can’t have something similar? Celebration jewellery for the local alien! Earrings that dangle and make pretty sounds when Grace moves.

Grace who wakes up alone. Grace who finds his friend’s and comrade’s bodies before even realizing where he is. Grace who’s only connection to people other than himself is the video logs. Grace who talks through his problems over the video, speaking out his internal monologue so he doesn’t go insane in his own head.

Grace who wakes up alone again. Grace who goes to find Rocky’s body before even checking that the taumoeba made it safely. Grace who’s external dialogue talking himself through things shifts from talking to the video logs to talking at Rocky.

Grace, who you can watch, where you can see the progression of his priorities shifting. Grace, who when he realizes Rocky will die for real, slow and painful and alone, finally figures out who it really is that he would die for instead.

Grace who loves his world. Who loves living. Who is worthy of staying alive. Who is willing to die his own slow painful death of starvation, because somewhere between waking up alone the first time and the second time, his need for connection has been filled to the brim. Because he loves his best friend, and doesn’t need to pretend that a video log is the same thing as the real connection that he needs and loves and desires.
