Boarding my flight home
Biarritz airport
Homeward Bound
My intention was to walk from my Airbnb to Biarritz Airport and to catch the early morning flight back to London. The airport is only a few kilometres from the city centre, roughly the same distance as the train station.
Standing on the street corner, I fired up Google Maps. I soon realised that even if I can walk that far, the network of roads might not allow to get the airport by foot. I might end up walking along a main highway which is dangerous, especially when it is dark. I decided to get a taxi. The journey only took 7 minutes, but it made me appreciate that it is not possible to do on foot, from that I'm aware of anyway.
The airport was pleasant. It was small, clean and easy to navigate. After a coffee, I made my way through to departures. Soon enough, I boarded the Ryanair flight back to London. The flight only took 1 hour 30 minutes. I quickly manoeuvred my way through Stansted airport and boarded the train back to Liverpool Street station. The total journey time from Stansted back to Deptford seemed to take longer than the flight, but I got back ok.
Considering I was only in France for 4 nights, I did a lot. Bordeaux is such a nice city and much more that a 'Little Paris' whilst Biarritz and San-Sebastian are the nicest beach resorts that I have ever visited in Europe, if not the world. What an adventure! Needless to say, I will be exploring more of France soon.
The mighty Bay of Biscay.
Back in Biarritz. Just in time for sunset. 😀
