Touhou Puppet Dance Performance - Complete English Patch

What a better way to celebrate the thanksgiving holiday season than with the finished English Translation of Gensou Ningyo Enbu, the latest game from Focas Lens!

For those of you who haven’t been around the scene, Gensou Ningyo Enbu, or as we in the western community call it Touhou Puppet Dance Performance, was released at Comiket 87 last December. This game was developed by doujin circle Focas Lens and it’s head HemoglobinA1C to be the spiritual successor to the Touhou Puppet Play set of ROM Hacks for Pokemon Fire Red. Being it’s own project entirely, Touhou Puppet Dance Performance is a standalone game and is not bound to any specific exiting game for its engine. That being said, the game draws heavy inspiration from the Pokemon franchise, all the way up to using various mechanics and concepts from the 6th Generation.

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance has the player traveling around the realm known as Gensokyo on a two-fold quest: Trying to find a way to return home, and solving the latest incident that’s rocking the realm to its depths - where did these newfound Puppets come from? These Puppets are based off prominent characters in Gensokyo’s modern history, specifically every named character from Touhou 01: Highly Responsive to Prayers all the way up to Touhou 14: Double Dealing Character. All of them are available to capture, train, and do battle with against others while you make your way through Gensokyo.

This isn’t even the peak of the excitement, as a future build is coming out at Comiket 89 this December which is confirmed to add even more content to the game! A new type, a new style branch, so many new things to revitalize the game! We’ll have more info when it comes out, so stick around for that!

Patch Download Link - You WILL need to either play this in Japanese Locale, or download a tool called Locale Emulator to play it. It will not work on Non-Japanese Locale Machines!

We at the Touhou Puppet Play Forums have done our absolute best to ensure the product is as translated as it can be. There are some small issues left, mostly text wrapping issues, but they are inconsequential and do not affect the game. We will be looking into fixing those in a later build, along with other things. With that said, we hope you enjoy the game!

I’m hurt Reimu, I thought we were friends.” Naturally, she was just giving her a hard time like she’s always done. But her worries were well warranted, if she could get away with a few bodies she most definitely would.

As the shrine maiden backed up, she kept her approach. Not getting nearly as close as she was, probably acting a little too casual for her liking. “Breaking into hospitals for some snacks is a good idea, It’ll be easy enough for me. Thanks for the idea ‘friend’.“ Hoping to get some type of reaction from her that way.

“But your right, I’m going to need to figure something out, it’s a real pain that we’re stuck in this symbiotic relation with your kind. None of you are just willing to give up your blood, it’s not like you need it all anyways. But that’s why I thought of providing a service only I can offer, with blood as the currency.” Intentionally leaving details out to raise the shrine maiden’s interest.

「That’s how it is. As it’s your food source, anything with blood and intelligence would be wary of you,」Reimu sighs, the irritation rising within her becoming difficult to contain. The vampire’s personality was as bad as ever.「If you had the gall to pull of what you did back then, I wouldn’t rule it out; it’s not out of your nature after all- murder.」

When it became apparent Remilia wasn’t going to let up her pursuit despite nearly backing the miko into the crowds of commuters on the sidewalk ,added on with what the other was saying, Reimu’s patience had run thin. Brandishing her gohei followed by a quick sidestep, a solid thwack landed atop the vampire’s head.

「And you wonder why I don’t trust you, 」she huffs, grabbing Remilia’s wrist and dragging her through the alleyway, away from the masses of people. 「Listen here you little shit, I don’t know what kind of underground business you’re planning about, but if it’s anything drastic I’ll kick your ass back to Gensokyo and Flandre won’t be proud of you. Speaking of which, is it even alright to leave her?」「Shouldn’t you go back and tend to her?」 is what Reimu wants to say, but that’ll have the reverse effect of what she wants.

「She hates being left out, doesn’t she?」

There was no way… Was she seeing things? The Miko was here too? “…” What better way to make an introduction for her than befuddle her? A Flash of smoke. Once the dust settled, the ‘shrine maiden’ gave the other shrine maiden a light tap on her shoulder.

“Oi! I fare you’re doing well in this city?” She was certain her Archaic manner of speaking would be a dead giveaway, but consider this a test…

「Yes?」The shrine maiden inquires as she turns to face the stranger, a bit startled by the uncanny resemblance. Reimu blinks once in surprise before settling back into an unimpressed expression. Whoever this impostor was, their effort sure was half-assed.

She hasn’t been in Koi long enough to draw the attention of any weirdos, much less enough time for them to make such a spot on cosplay. Reimu sighs, somewhat recognizing the accent and speech manner- why must she attract youkai wherever she goes?

「...Mamizou.」

“Not even a minute in and your already accusing me of crimes I haven’t commit. I’m glad to know exactly how you feel about me, shrine maiden. It’s so insulting that it hurts. You know that I’m not allowed to touch any of the humans in the village.” A sinister grin curling onto her face.

“We all know that I’m going to need blood from someone to get by, that’s a given. Would it surprise you that I merely came here for a vacation? A nice get away from my mansion should do me some good.” Inching closer and closer to the shrine maiden as she spoke, of course remaining in the shadows casted onto the sidewalk. Until she was standing right before her.

“But what about you?” Leaning in a bit to get in her face the best she could. “Shouldn’t little miss red and white have some jobs she needs to get done back at home?”

「I’m not accusing, I’m just worried about civilian safety,」she mutters, mulling over why her bad feeling still hasn’t passed despite finding a rather viable reason for it. Is there yet another youkai in the city or is the one before her not telling the truth? That look she’s getting isn’t helping with the latter suspicions, nope.

It’s true, she’s not permitted to harm the humans in the village. Here, she could very well be free to attack whomever she liked, where it wasn’t under Keine’s protection and no need to fear the pain of a headbutt. But for the sake of not fighting on the middle of the sidewalk, the miko keeps her mouth shut and her expression impassive as the vampire drew near.「The problem is where you’re going to get that blood. If not from a civilian, then what’re you planning to do, break into a hospital?」

Reimu has to lean away from Remilia when she continues to get in her private space; is she asking for a gohei stick to the face? 「If I had duties to attend to that weren’t chores back at the shrine, then I wouldn’t have left.」She wouldn’t abandon money, and that’s what jobs bring. 「I don’t think clientele would let me go anyway, if that were the case.」

Compared to Gensokyo, this place was a much needed change of pace. Her life back at home has become far to stale and routine for her liking. Of course the comfortable lifestyle was one she enjoyed, but it was nice to get out every now and then.

However it seemed that something from home would come to haunt her. Now while these two were on fairly good terms, she honestly didn’t want to see the familiar red and white shrine maiden while she was on vacation. She knew exactly how all of this was going to play out, not favorable for her.

“It’s you…”

Had a good rest, check. Chores done, check. No shortage of food, check. No actions made to possibly upset civilians, check... probably. Nothing seems awry so why this nagging feeling go away? Unless... she hated to admit the possibility, but there might just be a youkai up and about.

To her dismay, these suspicions were confirmed when she reluctantly went on patrol and came across a familiar face. 「...It’s me,」Reimu mutters in response. 「What’re you here for? The blood of those in the Human Village not satisfactory?」She hopes the reasons aren’t malicious; she’s really doesn’t feel up to beating anyone up, especially not when the miko came to this city to laze around relax.
