Today was the reptile expo! My parents, one of my closest friends, and I went to the expo. Incredibly, we brought absolutely no new pets home! It’s crazy, but I’m attributing that to the fact that I only have $30 until I get paid Thursday 😂. We saw so many animals and I loved and wanted so many of them! One day I’m gonna have so many different reptiles and pets. I’m a huge animal lover! For my personal pets, I have two crested geckos, a ball python, a rabbit, and a diabetic cat. In the whole house is another story, because my parents are clearly the reason I love animals as much as I do.

Food sucked though. No vegan options there, and we had to make a stop off at a grocery store to get some food. My friend is also vegan, and can partially be held responsible for my decision to cut my diet. We ended up getting some roasted red pepper hummus and pita bread. Funnily enough, I don’t think I ever tried hummus until I was an adult, which is crazy because I have close middle eastern ancestry! I definitely don’t look it at all. We devoured the hummus between the two of us. Then I had to come home and give the cat a bath and a brushing. Long haired cats can certainly be high maintenance!

Went to Ruby Tuesday for a deaf even today! I really want to learn ASL because I honestly think it should be used more than it is. I worked with babies for a while so I know a bit of baby sign so I’m not completely helpless, but it’s still a complete language barrier that you don’t even realize until you’re in the midst of it all!

The food was crap though. Literally nothing on the actual menu was vegan, everything was meat or dairy. Ruby Tuesday advertises their endless garden bar all over right? It was crap dude. Crap. The greens were all wilted, all the other topping looked awful. I got food and used their oil and vinegar bottles for dressing because they had no vegan dressing options otherwise. It was gross, but I forced myself to eat it anyways because I was fucking STARVING and it was the first thing I had eaten all day. So I am absolutely starving and have grand plans for vegan garlic bread 👩🏻‍🍳

I figure this is as good a place as any to unleash the insanity that comes pouring out of my brain, without fear of being harshly judged. I’ve always wanted to start a blog but haven’t any idea what to actually do so I’m totally winging it and maybe someone will follow me, who knows?

I’ve been vegan for a whole 6 days. Before that I was vegetarian, but couldn’t bear to part with cheese. Addictive properties anyone? I watched a documentary where doctors likened the chemical reactions of eating cheese to being high on heroin, which is fucking insane to think about. That and the fact that cheese was called “coagulated cow pus” was what tipped me over the breaking point. I quit cheese cold turkey the next day. Honestly? I haven’t missed it as much as I thought that I would! I don’t want to be one of those vegans yelling at others left and right to “stop destroying the world! Eat vegan or you’ll die!” But I do want to encourage people to do their research! You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink and all that happy crap. I was vegetarian for three months before that, and since then I’ve lost ten pounds. Literally just changing my diet. Like, I went from an active job chasing babies around to sitting at a desk copying and pasting data. And the only difference is my diet. Ten pounds, just from my diet. This whole thing is actually really mind blowing!

I consider myself to be a bit of a hippy. Eco friendly, canvas shopping bags, the whole nine yards. Trying to figure out how to compost has been a nightmare that I’ve still not figured out but I’ll get there..... eventually. I just wanna make sure the earth is healthy, ya know? Mother Nature IS my religion after all... take care of her and she’ll take care of you!
