James Vyn Another Inspirational Photographer

James Vyn is a 22 year old fashion and beauty photographer from Switzerland. He has been practicing street photography since January of last year 2011. His carer first launched when his work was spotted on kayture.com, a website designed to promote his girlfriend Kayture as a model. He uses his girlfriend as his main subject for in his photographs, taking images of her in an different urban environments wearing the latest high street urban fashions. This then prompted him to make a blog showcasing his talents as a fashion photographer. This soon attracted a lot of attention and sparked off a lot of professional photographer’s interest. Within months James Vyn acquired enough skill and experience to join a well-recognised studio of photographers in Switzerland. Here he works with professional make up and beauty stylists to create high quality unique and striking fashion shots. In January 2012 Vyn shot the front cover for a top fashion magazine in Switzerland. I came across James Vvyn's work when I was blogging on tumblr looking for an urban fashion photographer and was instantly gripped by his great use of composition and   location selection in each of his photographs, from then on I have used Vyn's work to model the foundations of the majority of my fashion photography work.

Admirational Photographer Adam Fuss

Adam Fuss' Swam taken from his "My Ghost" series

Adam Fuss is a bristish photographer born in England 1961. He is a well recognized photographer and artist that centers his work around themes of death and life making use of old fashioned approaches such as daguerrotypes -- the first successful photographic process created in 1837 by Louis Jacques-Mande Daguerre. This process a direct positive created by the camera on a silver copper plate. The above photograph is a true representation of Adam Fuss' interest in the themes of life and death. Fuss illustrates presence through absence with this daguerreotype of a swan. The swan can also be seen as a representation of love and death, dark but somehow romantic. I am a fan of Fuss' work as I like how he is able to embody the character of the world into his work as well as taking a unique approach using daguerreotype to present his work.

Terry Richardson Master of Studio Photography

August 14th 1965 saw the birth of noted fashion photographer Terrence "Terry" Richardson. Born in New York City son of fashion photographer Bob Richardson, it was almost destined that young Richardson was to follow in his own father's footsteps. Raised in California Richardson was described to be a shy and socially awkward teenager, however it was in high school his love of photography was ignited.

Richardson's unique and easily recognizable style consisting of repetitive themes, the main being capturing the images of A-List celebrities in interesting and exciting situations, using a simple and traditional instant camera. His other photographic work ventures into controversial territory with images of nudity, both artificial and real sexual acts, investigating ideas of sexuality. A lot of Richardson's work is set on white backgrounds with his subject central to his work.

Inspirational Fashion Photographer Perou

In england 1970 marked the birth of my favorite all time fashion photographer Perou, otherwise known as Ralph John Perou. He is a world renowened brisitsh fashion photogtapher known for his stunning sharp and bold take on fashion photography, as well as his harsh criticsim on such model reality shows as Make Me a Supernodel Us and UK and of course his most recent personal project on the realtiy show Dirty, Sexy, Things which Perou set out to discover the next generation of top supermodels. As an amuture fashion photographer I take alot of my inspiration from his work. I truley appreciate his use of bold colours and sharp focused images and attention to detail. Some of his work appears to be simple studio work but the quality of his shots seems to always be incredibally difficult to re-create. The sheer quality in his work is what makes him stand above the rest. As well as his work being very strong in quality he also comes up with some intersting unconventional ways to photograph fashion. Postmodernism and Modernism

Postmodernism is the philosophy that declines the notion of there being an ultimate truth or an ultimate correct answer and completely rejects any forms. Whereas Modernism is the philosophy that denies prior traditions and constrains in order to promote completely contrasting forms of artistic expression. Postmodernism came after modernism and can only in reply to something that has been set out to be a modernist notion.

In terms of photography and art post modernism allows an absolute freedom of expression as they are no set rules, guidelines or artistic conformity. It accepts the fact that anything could be art and anything could be photographed, allowing photography to take place for the sake of photography or just for the sake of taking a photograph without reason or constraints. For example self portrait photographer Cindy Sherman does this time and time again.

Cindy Sherman is a photographer that often through her work represents post modernism as she loves to dress up and photograph pictures of herself but does not stick to the conformity of dressing up to take images within a studio setting striking the poses in order to fit a certain brief or photographic form as modernism would require.

Basically Postmodernism and modernism are similar in the way that they both promote power, growth and happiness, however in opposing ways as modernism promotes these things through using certain forms. On the other hand postmodernism throws forms completely out the window.

Example of modernism photography, photographed by Paul Strand 1916 who was responsible for taking American photography from the traditional photography use of soft lighting to sharp bold images consisting of lines and shapes.
