Why tf is everyone hating on Luther?? Yes the others have more interesting backstories and he definitely fucked up in the end, but how can people not see that his decision to stay was driven by his emotional manipulation and childhood trauma. The shit all the kids went through manifested different for each of them, but Luther’s actions are “bad”.

Allison uses her powers on her daughter. Bad.

Klaus uses people for a a place to stay, money, and drugs. Bad.

Vanya closes herself off from literally everyone. Bad.

Diego is unable to complete the police academy because he’d rather play vigilante. Bad.

Luther was told by Hargreeves his entire life that he was number 1, that he was more responsible than his siblings, and that it was all on him or else “terrible things” were going to happen. Is anyone really surprised that this emotional manipulation manifested in a way that made him think he had no choice but to stay? That he was the last hope. He went to the fucking moon for his dad even after what he did to his body because he believed he had a responsibility and that he was the only one willing and able to help.

Yes he fucked up but pretending that his actions are not the result of the same fucked up upbringing as the others is ridiculous. It’s okay to not like him but outright hating him is to not understand his character.

What’s up with all that Luther hate?

He didn’t have an easier life than the rest of his (living) siblings and yet people seem to paint him as this golden boy with a hero complex. I just don’t get why you favour everyone else because they all had some pretty fucked up shit happen to them, but at the same time nobody acknowledges how fucked up Luther’s life is: he almost died because he was on his own trying to help people, he woke up alone from a life-threatening surgery, which left him with a body he constantly tries to hide, then he was sent to live alone on the moon for four! years and had to deal with his trauma without any support, and, when he finally came back to be with his family, his brother calls him a ‘monster’ and outright says that their father sent him to the fucking moon because he couldn't bear the sight of him.

I’m not saying that Luther is flawless but I expected more sympathy, especially on tumblr, for a character who was cut off from everyone else for years, is living in a body that is not quite his own and had virtually no support system during the hardest time of his life.
