Today marks the launch of Rihanna’s makeup line, Fenty Beauty. A beauty icon herself, Rihanna’s no amateur in the industry. She’s collaborated with MAC, became the first ever black spokeswoman for Dior, and has produced several fragrances. Thanks to strategic tease marketing and the world’s communal obsession with all things Rihanna, this has been the most anticipated beauty launch of the year.
While Sephora’s been teasing their holiday collections, RiRi chose a more chic event to launch her beauty line around-NYFW. She’s dominating this season from all angles by debuting her beauty line, having a kick ass launch party and showcasing her Fenty Puma collection.
Rihanna and her makeup artist, Lora Arellano (CEO of Melt Cosmetics) have been teasing Fenty Beauty on the red carpet for months, and the products were used backstage at the Fenty Puma SS17 runway show. Rihanna first hinted at starting a makeup brand back in 2015, and signed with the Kendo division of LVMH (ala KVD Beauty & Marc Jacobs Beauty) in 2016.
The inclusive messaging of Fenty Beauty’s marketing has the beauty community wondering, why aren’t all campaigns like this? These products were created for women of all skin tones, and all personalities. The debut collection launched in 150 countries at midnight on fentybeauty.com and is now available at Sephora. The line is 100% cruelty free. The fleshy-nude packaging and stick format has us questioning, KKW who? and the minimal millennial focused branding makes Fenty Beauty feel like Glossier‘s badass bigger sister.

In honor of the launch of Fenty Beauty, we’ve compiled Bad Gal RiRi’s best beauty moments of 2017 (many of which were created using Fenty Beauty products.).
This July, Rihanna showed off different bomb beauty looks at each date of her Valerian press tour. In LA and Paris, her makeup was all about peachy pink. LA was a cool toned brown shadow, and Paris was a shimmering warm pink peach shadow with matching lips. Her look for the premier in London was more fiery and vampy, with a bold matte red wine lip that matched her earrings and gown.
Another Fenty Beauty Makeup teaser was the music video for the song of the summer, Wild Thoughts. Rihanna debuted 2 major beauty looks in this video- the first, a shimmering neutral shadow and pink-red lip, the second (pictured above) a full blown teal eye shadow moment matched with bold true red lips. In both looks she was glistening from head to toe in light catching highlight.
Back in May, Rihanna rocked the classic combo of red lips and red nails to Parsons School of Design 69th annual Parsons Benefit. Her hair was bobbed, sleek and curly.
We can’t use the words Rihanna and beauty in the same sentence without mentioning the Met Gala. Her purple-pink eye shadow/blush was swept from the lid down the cheek, and doused in highlighter for a blinding intense glow. The draped eye and cheek look was matched with a deep burgundy oxblood matte lip. Her hair was worn in a high bun with piecey bangs.
Rihanna’s lids were a light and fresh mint green for her visit to the Fenty X Puma pop-up shop in LA in April. The eyes were framed with bold black straight across bangs. When a fan asked about the blinding highlight she was wearing, she replied “It’s mine. It’s a secret till September.”
Rihanna was the cover star of PAPER Magazine’s March issue, and her beauty looks did not disappoint. In the promo video, her hair changed from vibrant orange to a high purple ponytail to green liberty spikes. With the crimped purple pony, Riri’s makeup look was a pinky purple monochromatic dream. A dusty smokey pink-purple eyeshadow covered her lids, and her lips were tinted a light wash of glossy lavender.
RiRi presented her Fall Ready to Wear Collection, the third collection for Fenty Puma, at Paris Fashion Week in March. She wore smoked out green liner along her upper and lower lash line, with a sheer glitter eye shadow and a frosted bronzey metallic 90’s lip.
