“You said you’re a doctor, right? That’s pretty impressive in itself.. As does firefighting. Both jobs require me to be quick on my feet, so to speak. Long shifts might actually be the worst. The work is totally worth it, but the lack of sleep— for lack of a more intelligent word— blows.”
