Your pumpkin pie looked very nice for a first attempt, Sir!
Thank you, ma cher. It doesn’t hold a candle next to your works of art in the kitchen. But at least I can say I tried.

Oh my gosh... I died and went to Heaven, and I don’t even believe in it.
That looks sinful, but most importantly delicious. Thank you so much, Layla. You’re such a dear.
Thank you for breakfast, Eli! It was delicious!
Thank you for the nice message. I don’t think I’m gunna be baking any more now so I hope you liked it.

Lorna was doing her best to lay low. Everything felt like it was falling to pieces around her, and she wasn’t able to move fast enough to keep it together. The smartest thing for her to do would to be to not go outside right now. At least, not during the day when she could be more easily caught by Enforcers. But she couldn’t stay cooped up inside either. Unable to sleep, feeling like she was about to explode, Lorna had been prepared to climb out a window if she had to just to get outside.
Of course, nothing could go right for too long, could it? And she was pretty sure that the person looking a little too intently at her was an Enforcer. Thankfully, just then she spotted Layla. “Hey!” she called out, walking over to her. “Just go with it,” she whispered as she pulled Layla close, then kissed her. Hopefully that would make the Enforcer not want to look too close.

Desmond hadn’t planned on asking questions about the explosion at Hazel’s daycare, but when he’d gone to pick her up at the end of the day— he couldn’t help but notice one Layla Thane also retrieving her child. So he took this opportunity to head on over to the other woman with a smile on his face, and Hazel tucked against him. “You’re Layla, right?” he asked innocently. “And this is Norah?” He gave a small wave to the little girl in question before looking back at her mother. “I’ve seen her mentioned on Hazel’s reports of people she played with and stuff,” he explained, not wanting to seem creepy or something equally bad.

Despite not being able to go to the lakehouse with the rest of the girls, Ramina was helping Layla pack herself and Norah up. Though the newest Old Lady was filled with some anxieties about being left in Olympus alone, she’d known better than to push when it came to the lakehouse. It was a special place, and Rhea would also be there. If she didn’t want the matriarch hating her for the rest of time, she figured it would be best to accept the post of staying here, even if it might give someone a free pass to come after her. At least she wouldn’t be alone. After all, she’d asked Damian if she could stay at his place, though she kept flip flopping on whether or not she should actually be there. If someone did decide to make some move on her, she didn’t want him in the crossfire.
Nevertheless, she was just finishing up with Norah’s bag when she looked over to check on Layla— who was holding up a shirt to herself in the mirror. Amusement colored Ramina’s voice as she asked, “You know you’re not going for vacation...right? There’s not going to be a runway there.” Of course...Ramina would probably be doing something very similar in Layla’s shoes. Still, it was fun to tease.
micah was sitting in the porch reading another one of her aunts pre-screened books, bored out of her mind. the house was the only one on the block that was decorated for halloween. brianna had decided to boycott the entire holiday, claiming it would set micah back too much as well as being completely pointless. but it had always been micahs favorite holiday, full of fantasy and history and spook. even worse was. e fact that there was a party she wasn't allowed to go to and hang out with the few friends she'd made in town.
