it felt like the air had shifted just from her single question. she messed up. there was no malice in her question… it was more of an instinct. of course she trusted him! he was one of her most trusted servants. but, her words still hurt him. in her attempt to keep her own emotions safe, to keep herself grounded, she had hurt one of the people closest to her.

what a failure she was.
