General PSA: I’m totally fine with starting over! If we tried to write together once before and the thread fell flat or got dropped, I’m game to try again. Not all first interactions are going to be golden, and sometimes it takes a few tries for us to understand how our characters might merge together in writing. “Rubellite-” She said, catching herself before saying her whole title. She didn’t need to know it. What if she reported her to her Matron.

“I am just taking a walk!” She tried to keep her voice normal and stable. “Its such a glorious day.”

‘Ruby’ tilted her head in confusion at the other gem. They seem… nervous or a bit off. Were all the gems on homeworld like this? Then again, she wouldn’t really know since she only made certain visits.

      ❝ Well, nice to meetcha. It is? I’m… not familiar with Homeworld. ❞

“It-it is a wonderful day!” Rubellite gave a grin, but it looked nearly painful how forced it was.  She didn’t know this Ruby.  “We are alive, whole, and living in the glory of the Diamonds.  Why-why wouldn’t it be good?”

Rubellite gripped her hands together.  “You-you aren’t familiar?”

The arrows rained down, even worse then before. Rubellite did her best to keep moving, jumping from platform to platform. Several times she fell, sliding and nearly falling off but she kept moving. She grasp the edge of platform, grasping it and pulling herself back up. She took a moment to catch her breath before moving again.

‘I have to do this. I can do this.’

She was halfway to the rod. They weren’t making things easy for her where they? But this was why she chose this form when she reformed. She had to be stronger then before.

Quartzite tried to hide the shock on her face when she watched Rubellite falter. She breathed a sigh of relief when she was able to correct herself. She was doing well, better than most Rubellites who took this test. If White Diamond’s favorite continued this way, she may be due a visit to Fairburn Agate…

The old Gem started to feel rather guilty when she raised her wrist device to her mouth. “Change the rounds,half fire, half concussive blasts.” At the very least, she’ll be challenged.” She told herself. 

“Understood ma’am.” The lead Tanzanite used hand gestures to command her fellow archers to change their arrows. Now a set of arrows were sent Rubellite’s way, which erupted in flames.

‘Oh crack me!’

Rubellite continued up, even as the arrows changed from just regular arrows to fire.  She attempted to move and dodge the arrows, managing most of it.  One managed to hit her foot. She gave a loud curse and pulled it out.  She had to keep going.

That was when the ground exploded behind her.  Not with fire but force.  She was flung forward, rolling nearly off the platform.  She caught herself, summoning her weapons and using one to catch the ledge.  She swung herself up, using the momentum to fling herself up.  She was so close.  She reached and....  

Rubellite grabbed it.  Part of her was smoking, her foot hurt where the arrow hit, but she had the rod.  She rose it into the air and let out a cry of triumph.

“My Diamond-” Rubellite still saw the images flashing through her mind, of both of their pains. White Diamond holding her in a tight hug gave her some gounding. She leaned against her, forehead to forehead.

“You went through so much, my Diamond. I only saw a glimpse-”

“You did?” Horror filled her. It made sense though as she had seen her Diamonds. The fusion wasn’t supposed to happen but it had! Hearing Prime’s name she froze.

“She thought she was right. She thought- thought the others deserved to punish me. Needed someone to punish. I-” Fresh tears fell down her face. “I only wanted to serve. She…”

Though she would never chastise Rubellite for something she couldn’t control, White’s suffering was hers to deal with by herself, she would never want anyone to witness it. 

“Don’t worry about me…” She didn’t seem too phased by her Diamond, that must have meant she didn’t see anything to do with… It didn’t matter. 

White’s rage was starting to boil over. “She’s failed in her duties as a Matron, that’s how we spin it. I’ll make sure Verdelite makes sure she vanishes forever…” A thought entered White’s mind. “No… Much better idea. We will be the instrument of her demise.” 

Where there was once rage, now there was excitement. “It’s been a long time since we had a good, old fashioned disappearance.”

The Diamond flicked her cloak outward. “Rubellite, would you like to meet the other Primes? The Matron’s Guild? I think you should get acquainted with your new co-workers.”

Rubellite didn’t want to think about what she had seen in her fusion.  The vision of a judging face, the pain and terror, still whirled through her mind despite that.  How could one make sense of all that information all at once at any rate?  It would take time to figure out what exactly she saw.  And to figure out how she truly felt about the fusion.

Rubellite looked up at her Diamond, her heart aching at her words.  She always had to be stoic.  She was a Diamond though, a ruler.  It made sense even if made her feel distant from her Diamond again. She was still being held though, and it helped ground her.

“Rubellite Prime will throw up a stink over this,” Rubellite shivered over the thought of facing her.  Even if she was under White Diamond’s direct command, the thought of facing her Matron again scared her.  “I-”

  “Co-co workers?”

I shall be making a return here.  I know that rp is slowly dying but I really want to get back into it here.  I need this to get through my days even if my brain wants to break down.  So hopefully we can get some rping done!

Yellow gently squeezed Rubellite’s hand in return, attempting to imagine what the other must be going through. “I will… it isn’t easy. And you’re really brave for doing this. But I know, I know that this is the better option for you.”

She carefully stood up and really looked at the other three trees, a soft frown on her face. “It will all be made right. I won’t… I won’t stand by idle anymore and let the diamonds get away with hurting others in the sake of their selfishness.”

Yellow leaned down and offered Rubellite her hand. “Starting now.”

“I have no idea what I will do when I get to Earth but I guess one thing at a time.”  It was still terrifying.  Would she be able to escape?  Would White come for her?  Would she even notice she was gone?

“...”  Rubellite looked up at Yellow from her sitting position.  “I can’t thank you enough for doing this for me.  You are putting yourself at serious risk for a defect like me.”

‘Please don’t let her get hurt because of me.’

Rubellite took her hand and smiled.  Hopeful.

“Yeah, it’s me!”  The small gem hollered, waving her hand up high so Rubbelite could see her.  “Over here over here!  I need to show ‘ya something!”

“I know you are, Rube.  But I’m sure we can figure out something you can do!”  Black Star said optimistically, trying to ponder about what her friend would do.  A hand moved up to cover her mouth, to stiffle laughter.  “R-Rube..” give her another minute or a few.  Okay, she’s done now.

With a soft sigh “Steven is really nice, Rube.  If you want, I could introduce you when he’s not busy?”

"I am sure he is but I..." Rubellite looked away, her face turning a dark shade of red. It was her upbringing no doubt. Gems on Earth and humans were strange to her. She was moving beyond it, trying to, but it was takinf time.

"Maybe. I would like to," Rubellite said in a quiet voice.

“I need you to trust me. I… I can get you a ship, there’s a few that were going to be sent away for recycling just because they’re older, the number on the shipment can be modified for one less it won’t make much of a difference.”

She spoke quietly, her gaze glancing to the other three trees. This plan was insane - this was a genuine act of defying the diamonds, defying White Diamond. But she was so tired of playing along with their rules.

“The game must be changed.” Yellow Scapolite repeated, for no reason it seemed in particular. “I’ll help you leave by tomorrow, if you can you can hide out here in the meantime. They don’t know this exists - it was our secret hideway.”

"I..." Rubellite faultered with her words, looking towards the ground for a moment while her mind buzzed with thoughts. She could trust her right? She wouldn't be here if she didn't right? She looked back up at Yellow Scapolite and nodded. "This is crazy. So crazy. But I do trust you."

Rubellite hated to leave Homeworld. This was her home, all that she ever knew. But she wasn't safe here anymore. She would miss Kimberlite but this had to happen. A terrifying future awaited for her, but there was hope.

"I will stay here. Thank you for this Scapolite." Rubellite reached for her hands and took one. She gave it a gentle squeeze. "Just be careful."
