I’ve always wanted to do something with canon Naruto and my Mandalorian AU Naruto. I decided to have my Mando-Naruto sit down and talk with Boruto. I just did this for fun, nothing serious, no ship-bashing. Enjoy!
Boruto sits alone after he and his father butt heads. Mando-Naruto finds him and sit next to him.
Boruto: How did you find me?
Mando-Naruto: I didn’t. I wasn’t even looking for you.
Silence
Mando-Naruto: You and your dad have it out?
Boruto: Yeah…Why couldn’t I have a dad like you?
Mando-Naruto: What do you mean?
Boruto: I mean, dad talks all about how he wanted to become Hokage when he was my age. He’s Hokage now and all he does is work, work, work.
Mando-Naruto: Being a leader comes with lots of responsibility. Trust me, I know.
Boruto: But you’re a feared warrior! You do stuff I wish we could!
Mando-Naruto: Trust me, kid. You don’t want my life.
Boruto: But I do! I would love to fly around the stars and visit other planets and defeat evil! We have nothing like that here!
Mando-Naruto: Count your blessings, then.
Boruto: You talk like you’re life is boring! It’s not! I want your life! I wish you could be my dad! You’re cool, strong, smart! My dad’s nothing like you
Mando-Naruto looks down at Boruto with no expression as the boy looks up at him in desperation. Mando-Naruto smiles and places his hand on Boruto’s head.
Mando-Naruto: Boruto, you’re right. My life’s far from boring. I don’t just “fly around the stars and defeat evil”. I’ve brought a broken people back together and lead a revolution. I watched as my friends took a stand against the Empire.
Mando-Naruto placed his hand on Boruto’s shoulder and his smile faded.
Mando-Naruto: But Boruto, you don’t want my life. You don’t want to watch as your home planet was destroyed. You don’t want to wander the galaxy all alone. When I was your age, I was slaughtering Trandoshans and using their hides as makeshift armor. That’s something you don’t want on your mind.
Mando-Naruto knelt before Boruto.
Mando-Naruto: There’s one big difference between your dad and I. I had my parents for a while. He had no one. He became the man he is because he had no one and wanted to prove himself. He work hard and earned the family he’s got. My mom and dad died trying to protect Mandalore and me. I became the man I am out of revenge. I brought the Mandalorians back up from the ashes to avenge them. Even after the fall of the Dark Brotherhood, I still wanted to take my anger out on the galaxy. I became the man your dad would have come to hate. You know what changed me?
Boruto shrugged
Mando-Naruto: Sakura told me she was pregnant. I became the first Mand’alor that had a child in…well, a long. I was beginning to question whether or not I was cut out for this life, but when I first held Shinachiku in my arms, I knew that I failed my dad, who lead our people in a benevolent way. I became the complete opposite of my father. I made a promise that I would continue my father’s way for my son. Your dad didn’t have that burden. He’s trying to help the world so you can be safe. He’s a shinobi, I’m a Mandalorian. He protects worlds, I destroy them.
Boruto: But…But you destroyed worlds to protect too, didn’t you?
Mando-Naruto *smirks and nods*: True, but the guilt that I had to destroy them stays with me. I can only hope Shina doesn’t make my mistakes too.
Boruto: He…He looks up to you. He loves you.
Mando-Naruto: And I love him. And your dad loves you. And as far as his work, he does it not for himself, but for his people, for you, for your sister, and your mother. He does what he does because he wants to keep you safe. In my life, it’s kill or be killed. Trust me, son. You don’t want my life.
Boruto: What about Shina?
Mando-Naruto: He was born into this life. Hell, even when Sakura was giving birth, the ship she was on was being attacked. Mere minutes after giving birth, she walked out of her room with Shinachiku in one arm and a heavy blaster in the other and took down the attackers.
Boruto: Wow, that’s…kind of scary.
Mando-Naruto: If you had my life, that’s how it could have been. Shina was born in blood. You and your sister were born in peace.
Boruto looked down in shame
Boruto: I…I had no idea.
Mando-Naruto: The Mandalorian life has never been easy, even when my dad tried to fix it. Even during the Passive Times during the Clone Wars, death comes knocking at our doors and we take up arms. Our worlds are very similar, but your world is far more safer than mine.
Boruto: I understand…
Mando-Naruto looks Boruto in the eyes
Mando-Naruto: Go home, Boruto. Be with your family. Spend time with you dad. But most of all, tell him you love him.
Boruto: Okay…
Boruto walks away and Mando-Naruto watches him with a smile.
