FALSE GODS
the ending of the words is ALMSIVI
Morrowind is just having to deal with your former reincarnations shitty polycule breakup It’s so annoying you land in Tamriel’s most homosexual province and immediately get spam emails from the corpse of your dead lover from your past life. You try and get shit done but your wife from like 9 lifetimes ago makes you run errands for her. Vivec is there
Mother Morrowind
Hello there! What headcanons do you have about Nerevar and his peers (the first council and the tribunal)?
oh wow we're gonna be here a while
nerevar:
shezzarine (mortal incarnation of lorkhan) i dont have time to go into all the details but here is the first post i made about it
trans. i just think it fits in with chimer culture and also i am projecting
half nord. i like nerevar having more traits in common with the nerevarine and this one i think makes it so he never fully feels "integrated" with any one group. he is always someone stuck inbetween and having to balance everything and hide parts of himself. and obviously as the years went the tribunal temple erased that as part of him
was a caravan guard originally for house dagoth
smells like citrus, fresh herbs, and salt water
almalexia:
her parents were assassinated when she was young and afterwards a relative hid her in a vassal house: house sotha. so she and sil played together when they were young
has a preference for women
loves children and unfortunately never had any of her own. she did start a bunch of charity programs though
the only real ruler of the tribunal before becoming a god and the pressure on her is immense. she basically forced herself to become as perfect as possible and never falter in the public, and eventually never falter around her loved ones either. she fears if she isnt perfect, she will be worthless and abandoned by her people. and if she is abandoned by them she cant help them either. her power hungry nature is just her trying to secure the only way of life she has ever known
vivec:
honestly most of my "headcanons" are just things in the extra semi-canon lore kirkbride has written. bc vivec is his oc.
loved nerevar so much it honestly made him fucking sick and crazy with want. loved him so much he legit started hating him. wanted him and wanted to be him. brutus by the buttresses energy too tbh
a musician in life, but he has a collection of songs he wrote solely for nerevar and will not play in front of anyone else anymore because nerevar is no longer here
sotha sil:
i dont care what yall want to say. it is in the text plainly but i think sotha sil was the one who instigated nerevar's murder because he genuinely felt nerevar was a now failed leader and his rulership was no longer needed. only after attaining godhood did he realize that was a mistake and he lives with the regret of being wrong. i think he did like nerevar a bit but not on the level of being his bestie
lost an arm in the attack on ald sotha as well as sustained some serious burns and a very fucked up leg that makes walking difficult. he began tinkering at a young age but ramped up his experiments to make prosthetics
he prefers to isolate on the anniversary of the attack of ald sotha. if its turning the war he likes to shut himself inside and if its post war (and hes in resdayn not off with the psijics) he will go to the ruins of ald sotha
voryn:
his gender is actually kind of fluid. he also just doesnt really care how people refer to him most of the time. but if you do try to disparage him he will definitely kill you sooner or later
house dagoth worships mephala predominately so they were commonly spies and intelligence gatherers. voryn was trained in the art of spying, seduction, manipulation, coded letters, and more
he is predominately a mage but he does have pretty good skill at throwing small weapons. he prefers small needles though that he can disarm or kill someone with. video below to show what i mean:
also voryn wears perfume and smells like briar rose by andromedea's curse (irl perfume it would prob be called smth else in resdayn or is a mixture of his perfume and incense)
rip sotha sil, you would’ve loved “SILOS” by starset.
the coldharbour What
As if that realm wasn’t diabolical enough 😭
Saint Nerevar’s Companions
Queen Almalexia ☆ Alandro Sul ☆ Sotha Sil ☆ King Dumac ☆ Voryn Dagoth ☆ Vivec
Aka I’ve seen so many people described as his close companions, I’m convinced it’s an allegory atp.
Headcanons/Straight up fanfic about these relationships
And another thing about the Morrowind fandom that boggles my mind:
How is it that every other bit of lore we get about Vivec and Sotha Sil is regarded as the truth or acceptable interpretations exploring their characters, but, predictably, the same courtesy and curiosity cannot be applied to Almalexia? Everything about her is immediately dismissed as Tribunal propaganda and nothing more, so much so that she doesn’t even have a real backstory despite being a literal queen in her own right.
Everything about opportunity to use the lore books and iconography to explore her character is tossed aside as nothing serious to consider, which leaves us with the fairly one-dimensional image that we get of her desperately trying to hold it together at the end of the Third Era. Meanwhile, neither Vivec nor Sotha Sil’s tidbits of lore are disregarded at nearly the same rate. Whereas everything remotely humanizing and positive about Almalexia is passed over, the other two get to be explored and favored without the same level of criticism. Despite knowing that works like The 36 Lessons stretch the truth for poetic purposes and all that, they get more leeway with being taken at their word. Almalexia, however, is always thrown under the bus and called a liar.
It’s so much more interesting to look at the lore and see how complex and flawed all of the Three are—how they’re ALL messy, how they ALL stretch their truths and shroud their lives with poetry and the gilded sides of victory, but only Ayem’s image is painted with as much blood as befitting them all, all while anything positive she does do is questioned.
It’s the misogyny for me, bruvs.
Vestige : BUT YOU SAID YOU’D GIVE ME WHAT I WISH!!! NOW I WISH YOU WERE A HOUSEGUEST !!!
Sotha Sil: I cannot make that happen…how about you take this trinket ? It can tell you the exact time *pulls out a watch he made*
Vestige: *slaps watch out of Seht’s hand* NO. *cries*
the birth of almalexia
in morrowind's in game text it's stated almalexia was born from the collective 99 lovers of boethian atop mount assarnibibi. my original vision for the picture was a more bloody version mixing both the war goddess aspects with the softer, motherly aspects ayem is known for. unfortunately i couldn't get it to work with the colors, so this was about as good as i could do.
i also didn't wanna just throw her in very bland bikini armor. so i took a lot of inspiration from different clothes and some resin covered armor. other inspiration was also those statues of aphrodite/venus where she looks ethereal and soft.
and i'm still torturing myself with peonies it seems. this actually shares a lot in common with my ahkrinaak picture i did for spring a while back now that i think about it
im struggling so intensele with the fucking fabric. can someone just kill me
happy 23rd birthday to the volcano doomed yaoi video game, gotta be one of my favorite genders
tbh like. it’s really sad what happened to almalexia in the end. she had been under so much pressure as a living god and trying her best to take care of her people and that propelled her forward for thousands of years until one day that power was ripped from her and she didn’t know how to keep doing her duty to her people so she kept grasping at power and control in any way possible. but all that stress and pressure fractured her. vivec is clearly on a similar path when you meet him in tes3, and arguably sotha sil crossed that line long before either of them did, but nobody noticed bc he was already rather distant and eccentric
i don't even begrudge almalexia her megalomania she has been a ruler from a very very young age i don't think she has once in her life been able to conceptualise herself-- her wants, her needs-- as separate from her duties to her people and the needs of her country. if you sat her down and asked her what she wanted or what she'd like she'd give you an expertly crafted political speech on how the prosperity of morrowind brings her more joy than anything and if you tried to push past that and ask what she, as a person, really wants, she'd stare at you blankly for thirty seconds and then have you hauled off by ordinators
do you know what high key pisses me off
ayem gets like. the least development and lore in the fucking series
vivec we see a lot of depth and metaphors and guilt over killing nerevar. sotha sil also gets that and gets sad boy hours and gets to feel guilty while other ppl hype him up as the member of the tribunal who loves the dunmer the most while he is committing OSHA violations you couldn't even dream of in the clockwork city. and ayem gets to be a bitch.
the crazy bitch ex wife who is evil and hates people and loves lying and being a narcissist. the most we get is sotha sil saying she's a better storyteller than vivec simply because she believes her lies and stories she spins where as vivec doesn't. but that's about it
she was nerevar's wife. the woman sharing a home and bed with him for centuries. a woman born and raised to be the ruler of a great house during nordic occupation. we know sotha sil had a sister and lost everything when ald sotha was destroyed, we know vivec was a netchrancher's child who ran away and became a prostitute in mournhold and he has a bunch of sexual trauma. what about almalexia? who cares. no one should care about who she was before any of this. she has never changed and never will. all she gets is being selfish and a liar and a bitch who loves manipulating ppl and hmmmm i wonder what is different about her that the other two don't share
