Ahhh, Coco...

My friends, I am a musician, it is everything I am. Yet, while I was inspired by the music of Coco, I am also reminded of the importance of family. Miguel’s soul is driven by music, but every time his padre y madre are present, he runs to them to affirm and center his emotions. Grandparents can be weird, but not entirely wrong (even if a whole lotta wrong...not entirely), and full of wisdom and ernesty.

Even still, the point of this magnificent film is a much needed draw toward family, no matter what culture you grew up in. By all means, mi compadres, follow your passions, but remember your roots, your familia! Don’t forget your ancestry or where you came from. Whether that’s African, Mexican, Irish, Jewish, Germanic, Indian, Arabic, Comanche, Apache, French, Italian, Russian, English, or even American. Know that your purpose and drive should be love, family, art, music...but most importantly, love.

When I load up a DVD and it first asks me my language preference, my first thought should not be, “Why does it offer any language other than English in the first place?! This is America, dam it!”

Instead my first thought should be, “Why aren’t there more languages to choose from?! This is America, damn it!”

Zootopia is #1 because, let me explain...

One of my friends suggested that Moana is the greatest Disney film ever created...well, Johnny boy, here’s why you’re wrong:

1) Moana is ONE of the greatest Disney films. No denying, it’s really friggin awesome.

2) Incredibles WAS the greatest Disney film ever made, and I’m very excited for the soon to be released sequel.

3) Zootopia IS the greatest Disney film ever made, and that is all!

4) Nevermind the awesome story, actors, dialogue, amazing animation, MUSIC!!!!, (*wispers* inevitable romance), unending possibilities for more stories and adventures...

5) Dreamworks has HicStrid (totally a fan, by the way), and Disney has WILDEHOPPS!!!!!

6) As we go around, just handing out that “Greatest Disney Film” award, let us not forget that Big Hero 6, Wreckit Ralph, Robin Hood (pft, obviously), and Alice in Wonderland were pretty damn good too.

7) Have I mentioned WIldehopps? I’m almost certain I did, oh yes indeed...quite...mmhmm, yes. (paraphrased from Prof. Farnsworth of Futurama...thank you, Billy West!!!)

I think I’ve proved my point.
