It is so ridiculously easy to gain a reputation for being competent by just reading signs.

This is not metaphorical. I mean actual, literal pieces of paper/plastic/metal/whatever explicitly erected to inform the public.

“How did you know this was the right trail?” I read the sign.

“Wow, how did you know what that flower is?” There’s a SIGN.

“How did you know we needed to use the side door?” THERE IS A SIGN POSTED ON THE FRONT DOOR.

Just…why are we having such different experiences of the world? People can read. I KNOW they can read. There’s nothing wrong with their vision.

Just. READ. THE. GOD. DAMN. SIGN.

Well, we got home last night and I am not okay.

I really didn't want to leave and yet we had to. Our cat was home alone and our usual caretaker had her own vacation to get to.

My anxiety is through the roof and I am crying right now, which is making some pain symptoms I've been having (due to teeth issues and sinus pressure) worse.

I want to be with my niblings. I want to cuddle the newest, play games with the oldest, and attempt to understand the middle's toddler speak while plying them with KitKats as a Tante treat. I want to sit out on their deck, watching rabbits and fireflies. (I want to bask in their central air and not have to worry about being in front of a fan with my sinus issues.)

The house is too quiet. I want the kid noise.

This time it was too hard and I just want to be there with them!

Visiting my brother’s family this week and fireflies are lighting up their backyard.

Didn’t realize they were gone until they came back. I’m glad that my niblings get to experience that bit of whimsy from my childhood.

We’re leaving tomorrow and I don’t want to go home.

I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.

It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.

I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.

When I got my first COVID shot back in the day, I was feeling absolutely lousy and my lovely, found a friend’s house, rescue black cat who rarely seems me worthy of her cuddles decided that day to knead right on the very sore shot sight.

Did she understand that it was tender? I think so, because she was purring up a storm and must have realized I was “injured”.
