mortalshore:
❝ So… what? ❞
The voice comes out of nowhere, scaring her well. When she turns around, Zinnia finds herself captured in the strange blue gaze of Steven Stone. Judging by how civilly he speaks with her, she draws that conclusion that from behind – she was unrecognizable. It figures. When was her last self haircut? Yesterday?
Since her last real encounter with the Champion, she had said very many cruel things to him. She had pulled no punches when mocking him, taking no care to not associate his actions with the actions of Devon Corporate. But as she had come to learn and understand… it was just as cruel to make one person the center of her miseries and faults.
After all – Steven wasn’t the President of Devon Corporation. He had just been… ignorant, is all.
For now, she allows her toothy grin to grow widespread upon her face. Her hands tossed behind her head, her trusted Whismur toddling fast behind – she begins to speak again, her voice playful and low:
❝ Stephanus, you’re no fun. Can’t a girl walk against a literal line between life and death here without being judged? ❞
The moment that Zinnia turned around, no—when she spoke up—was when Steven knew who it was. He was good at memorizing faces and voices, and Zinnia’s was definitely recognizable to Steven Stone. He has not had a good relationship with her, unfortunately, but perhaps that will change in due time. He’s had nothing against her, but she seemed to be against him. For now, he’ll play his part, until he’s able to change her mind. One day…
