Driving to meet with the babe I see the sign of the rocky point drive in movie theatre. The place I have passed for years and now the sign has finally got my attention. I almost spun my car around and checked it out but I knew I couldn’t do it without my adventurous girlfriend. After doing some research I found out that, yes, it was the rocky point drive in theatre but was turned into the rocky point driving range. As the driving range was left abandoned the sign started to deteriorate showing the original drive in sign under it. This brought attention to long islanders simply because there are no more on Long Island and that it’s the blast in the past that everyone would love to see again. I’m trying to piece things together on the internet and the best explanation is that when the signs started to deteriorate a new drive in movie theatre sign was put up by the people in rocky point that are trying to bring it back. This new bright yellow and red sign on top of the marquee is now there to bring the drivers attention on 25A to the rocky point drive in and in hopes to raise awareness. They got my attention. So… you want to know what is there now. You can see there is the drive in sign on top of the marquee but if you follow the driveway up you only see the left behind parking lot. The photo of the giant gate connect the drive in parking lot to the golf range. They took the stairs out of the second story but there should be enough debris around to build your way up. It’s cool to see the graffiti and what remains of the small electrical system but if you walk to the other side you can see two skate ramps and a skate rail. It makes you wonder how that stuff got there but either way it’s just cool to look at with all the graffiti. Hope you find my tag. XD

In Middle Island, NY, a row of 3 abandoned houses line up along a highway. A long driveway brings the explorer to the back of the houses, where you will find a small shed and a tent where someone resides. The first house on the right is open to exploring. The ceiling is caving in, but the first floor and the basement are fine to walk on. Grateful Dead merchandise and books are scattered along the floor. The second house is closed, although the third house is open. The third house is more of a big barn, with a pull-down ladder which leads to a bed. Someone must have been living there as well. Places like these poses the question as to why people would leave so much of their belongings behind.

The school is on lockdown and I'm on my free period so I have the freedom to pick from all the best hiding spots in the school

Go out east on Long Island, but not too far. Before it gets to the scenic stuff you will find William Floyd parkway. Take it south and find smiths point beach. Take it north, just south of 25, you will find a bench on the edge of Brookhaven labs. Brookhaven labs man… it’s the deep web of abandoned stuff. You could get lost so easily and that’s why I only bother with going to this couch. Park in the neighborhood right next door and take about twenty steps down the labs path and u will find it on top of a hill on your right. Approach said bench and you will find that it is actually a backseat car bench with, get it, built in arm rests. Put your feet up on the guard rail in front of you and look over William Floyd parkway (Chasing Cars plays in the background). There isn’t any history to this couch so your gonna have to make some.

It's too cold to go exploring but it's perfect to stay inside and get my adventure backpack ready.

    In Wells New York, where you will loose cell reception, you will find a house that holds history. Enough history to proudly wear the name the neighborhood kids gave, “Funny Farms.” In Wells, your neighbor isn’t right next to you, which ads to the scare factor and also explains why its not called the typical, “haunted house.” The original owner was the town judge who’s favorite pastime was to hang dolls by nooses through the windows. If you wanted to know more about him you would have to step inside. The following owner was an old Indian man who rented out parts of the house but over time became a lone hermit. The house grew quiet over the years but the fright in the neighborhood children still is present today as they grow into adults. When we went in there all we can find was some turning of the age kitchen appliances and a very respectable tape and record collection. I would’ve liked to have gone upstairs but I fell through the first floor and was too busy pulling myself out of the basement. That was not, “funny farms.” Outside of that you can find the usual back in time gas station and a historical cave where some guy lived in, the usual.

OUR FIRST MONTH - Kings Park Psychiatric Center, visited with a group of friends. We walked through belongings of people long forgotten and ascended 13 stories to the roof of building 93. There we shared something that will never be left behind or forgotten, our first kiss. On we went to building 7, where we found the morgue and old bed sheets. There is so much left to explore and be re-found.

    Our second Monthiversary. Not too far from downtown Port Jefferson, Long Island, you may find an old factory. Everyone who knows about it thinks its something different, a navy base, an airplane factory, pollutants factory, so at the end of the day we just call it “The Factory.” Evidence shows that it was a pollutants factory, Lawrence Aviation Industries, that got shut down due to a spill of Triochloreothylene and cis - 1, 2 - Dichloeothene. They’re not crazy chemicals but they are pollutants. It was shut down in 2002 but people still go there to leave there mark.
